LUNA’S POV

I watched as Kieran’s car disappeared into the shadow until he was out of sight. A scoff escaped my lips as I turned headed back into the mansion.

Like always the house was alive with movement and noise from the other staff that lived here. But as the doors swung open, the usual bustle that accompanied the mansion somehow disappeared, leaving only the sound of my boots hitting the marble floor to pierce through the tension in the air.

I made my way to the kitchen, my favorite place. I opened the fridge and grabbed a water bottle and an apple from the counter. And just as I was about to take a bite, I paused mid-bite. Feeling a presence to my right. I glanced over to my right, and realized I wasn't alone as I had suspected.

Dylan.

“What on earth were you doing out there, sneaking off to the underground fight?” Dylan asked, glaring at me from a distance.

“You could have gotten yourself killed and even worse…raped by those horny bastard wolves out there!” he snapped.

I had the Apple in one hand placed back down, staring at the worried look on the face of Dylan in front of me. Seeing how bothered he looked from me sneaking off a couple of hours ago.

“I was only out to watch the game,” I managed to say with my head lowered to the floor.

“What makes you think you have the freedom and right to be out there all by yourself?” he yelled.

I clenched my fist in anger, trying to hold back the urge to let out all of my pent up emotions. Making him see how pissed I was knowing I had restricted freedom around the pack territory.

“You get to live freely as a beta while I constantly stay stuck around here,”

“Need I remind you that it was never my choice in watching and protecting the pack Cubs, you and I know all of this was meant to be a form of distraction from Raven’s death.

“Enough Luna, all I care about is your safety,” he responded, staring directly at me with both hands shoved into the pocket of his pants. Due to Dylan’s position he needed to be an intimidating man, and being a 6’3 trigger happy Beta it wasn't hard for him.

“Plus you didn't have to say all that, I was only looking out for you like every brother would!” he cut in a couple of minutes later.

“Fine!” I said coldly as I watched him run off.

A couple of hours later, a knock on my door had me startled as I perked up to my feet wondering who it was exactly.

“Alpha Liam would like to have a brief talk with you at his office,” a guard said, the minute I opened my door. Without any hesitation, I headed out to the hallway.

“Were you informed about his whereabouts?” Liam asked. For a minute I was lost on who he meant until he leaned closer finally letting off.

“Kieran,”

I arched a brow at the sound of Kieran’s name, a bit confused on what he wanted exactly.

“No, I wasn't,” I responded.

“I find that hard to believe and plus I have a better offer,” Liam cut in with a smile creased on his face as I settled into the empty chair in front of him.

“What would that be, if I may ask,”

“Strengthening the pack bloodline by mating with a cousin of mine,” Liam responded, his voice barely above a whisper as he spoke.

With my brows raised, I leaned closer with one question in mind.

“What do I get in return?” I asked, a bit skeptical about the whole mating thing. Wondering why he’d suddenly advised that.

“If you become true pack by mating someone in my bloodline, it definitely would protect Dylan’s position from being taken.

Knowing I had Dylan to protect like he’d said, I accepted his offer without any hesitation or protest. But then I needed more than just the position of a caretaker.

“I have my request,” I cut in, breaking the silence between us as I watched him turn to look at me.

“I’d rather have a real position in the hierarchy in return, other than being just a caretaker,” I added.

“Deal, but all of that would be right after the mating ceremony,” Liam responded.

After meeting Liam in the absence of Dylan, I went back to my bedroom. It was a fairly sunny evening and even though I had too much on my plate to deal with, I decided to take a break today.

I rinsed off the shampoo from my hair, grateful that I was finally able to finish my damn shower. After long hours of being stuck under the pleating drops of water that pierced my skin like bullets. I dried off and quickly stepped into my bedroom.

I laid in bed staring in deep thought at the chandelier above me, with most of my body still except for my eyes that blinked every second or so. And the constant rising and falling of my chest.

Millions of thoughts swirled through my mind as one in particular grazed my head; had I made the right choice by accepting Liam’s offer?

With a long heavy sigh, I stood up from the comfort of my bed and then walked over to my window. Wondering why it suddenly felt as though I was being watched by someone out there lurking in the woods.

For some reason I could almost tell who it was…Kieran

‘I wonder if he can see me now, wearing nothing but a thin tank top, my nipples poking through the material or the short I had on that barely covered my ass?’ I thought to myself staring out the window, a bit lost in the torture of my thoughts.

Standing by the window, staring into the dark made me see how petrifying it was that all I wanted was to hide. But a distinct part of me kept me still. Bearing myself to find a small thrill out of everything happening.

And in all of that, I was convinced Kieran was out there watching….’

  • The Omega's Vow; Mine Was Never a Love Story   Curious

Chapter twenty nineLuna's POV Dylan had picked up the call, but he wouldn't tell me what Kieran had told him. I'm curious to know why Kieran had come to the boutique; with the way he was sounding, I could tell that he'd wanted to tell me something, unlike Victor, who came unannounced. I took out my phone to dial Kieran's number when the phone suddenly rang, and it turned out to be Victor. "Hello," I answered, placing the phone close to my ear. "Hey, what's up?" He asked me."I'm cool and you?" I asked."Cool, and where are you now?" he demanded. "In the hotel," I told him. "Alright," he said. I thought he was going to say something, but he didn't. Was he trying to know if I'm in the hotel or somewhere? What's everybody hiding from me? "Why were you asking?" I demanded. I've got this feeling that he has a reason for calling."Nothing, I was just calling to know if you're getting prepared," he told me. "Getting prepared for what?" I demanded. "Have you forgotten so soon?" he

CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT KIERAN POV I can't I believe this asshole just mentioned that I'm the one who's fit to take the blame. So he's deliberately blackmailing me? Then he should at least tell me how he managed to know this man. "I want you to explain to me how you managed to know him?" I demanded. "Wasn't he the one who gave you the pictures?" He asked me. Isn't he supposed to answer my question rather than asking another question? "Yes, he gave me the pictures," I admitted. "And he had been sending these pictures to people." He said, making me confused. The man never disclosed to me that he'd given anybody else the picture, so what's Victor talking about? "He has been sending these pictures like how?" I asked him. "Just as I left the boutique that same day you came, I got a call that my presence was needed. I headed straight and found these pictures," he said, throwing the pictures on the ground. "And..." "I investigated and then, I got to know that he was the one who sent

CHAPTER TWENTY SEVENKIERAN POV As our eyes locked, the air seemed to thicken, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Victor's gaze was unnerving, but I refused to back down. His broad shoulders filled the doorway, making him appear even more imposing. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I wondered if he had been tracking me, and a chill ran down my spine as I thought about being watched. Victor's knowing smile hinted that he could read my thoughts, and I felt a surge of unease and curiosity."Surprised to see me?" He asked me with a smirk on his face."What are you doing here?" I asked, attempting to sound calm. Victor's expression remained unreadable, his eyes never leaving mine. The silence stretched out, and I felt like I was trapped in a vortex, unsure what would happen next. Suddenly, he spoke, his voice low."I should be the one asking you what you're doing here," he told me. "I wasn't expecting you, and I never thought you'd know this place. So, I guess it'

Chapter twenty fiveKieran's POV I gave the man some money, although he'd initially rejected it. I insisted he take it, and eventually, he accepted. Afterward, I drove back to my apartment, preoccupied with thoughts of Luna. I desperately needed to speak with her, but I knew she wasn't ready to listen, given the rumors that had been spread about me. Victor was behind the rumors, claiming I was the one who tried to kill her in the woods. I wondered what his true intentions were, especially considering he'd proposed to her and then attacked her. Was he a psychopath, or was there more to it? Was Liam involved? Luna could be in grave danger if I didn't find a way to warn her.I dialed her number, and the phone rang several times before going to voicemail. I tried again, and again, until she finally picked up on the third attempt. Instead of Luna, Dylan answered. "Hello?" he said. "Kieran, what do you want from my sister?" I was taken aback. "Is Luna there?" I asked. "Kieran, tell me w
