CHAPTER SEVEN
LUNA POV
"Who's he?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Of course Liam only mentioned that it's a cousin of his but he didn't told me the name, I can't even tell if whoever it is, is an Alpha.
"It's Victor," he said.
"What about that?" I asked back, folding my arms across my chest.
"And how did you come to know it's Victor?"
"Come on, Luna, don't you get it?" He paused and continued, " and me knowing it's Victor isn't what we're supposed to be discussing."
"Of course it's important we talk about it." I said.
"What if this is some kind of a game?" he asked, looking uncomfortable.
"Liam promised to give me a position in the hierarchy in return... I really need it, and if this is the only thing I have to do to get it, then allow me," I said.
"So, because you need a position in the hierarchy, that's the reason you'll have to go into a loveless relationship?" he said.
"I'm tired of just being a caretaker," I said.
"I need something more than that, even though I still don't know Liam's intention for this mating thing."
He let out a sigh, " so he hasn't even tell you his purpose for this? "
" He only said that, mmm... Strengthening the Pack's bloodline.. " I told him.
He sighed again and then shook his head, " oh really?"
"Try to understand me," I told him.
"Listen to me, this two people are the least you should trust," he told me his voice barely above a whisper.
"Why shouldn't I trust them?" He asked me.
"Liam wouldn't want you to marry his cousin if he doesn't have an ulterior motive," he told me.
I was taken aback by his words. Could it be that there's something going on behind my back that I'm still not aware of?
If there is, I guess it's high time I find the truth. I need to know who Liam truly is.
All of a sudden, the door opened, and Liam registered his presence!
His piercing gaze fixed on Kieran, and after a while, he asked, "I should have knocked before coming in; sorry I didn't."
" No calls for alarm," I said under my breath.
With that, Kieran moved to the door and pulled the door handle to leave the room when Liam called his name: "Kieran."
Then he turned around and said, "Yes."
"This is the second time you've walked out in the middle of a conversation; what's the problem?" Liam demanded.
I stared at Kieran, thinking he would tell Liam anything, but instead, he said, "Nothing's wrong; I was just having a word with Luna."
"But you ain't done discussing with her, right?" Liam asked.
"You want to have a word with her too, so what's the need for me to still be talking?" Kieran asked, spreading his hands in a questioning way.
"You can continue your conversation with her while I wait till you're done," Liam told him.
"There's no need for that, since..." Kieran wasn't even through when I cut in, "Liam's right. You were saying something."
"Liam only invited me for dinner; I'm already done with it, so it's best I start leaving. It's already late," he said.
"Aren't you going to stay here until daybreak?" Liam asked him.
"Not at all; I've got a lot of things to put in place," Kieran told him and made his leave.
Kieran had been looking moody and unhappy ever since Liam mentioned the wedding at the dining room. With what little he'd told me before Liam interrupted, I knew he was making sense.
Thanks to the goddess that Liam's here now, I'll ask him about his purpose for the wedding. I want to know what's going on and why he suddenly wants me to marry his cousin.
I cleared my throat to get Liam's attention since he was still looking puzzled because of Kieran's reaction.
"Hmm?" Then he turned to me. "I'd like to ask you some questions," I said.
"About what?" he asked.
"The idea of this marriage," I told him.
"Was that what you guys were discussing?" he demanded.
"We..." I trailed off. I wasn't about to admit that we were talking about the marriage, so he wouldn't start thinking otherwise. "We were talking about the underground fight I went to watch," I lied.
"Was Kieran there?" he asked.
It suddenly dawned on me that Kieran wasn't there at all; rather, it was Dylan.
Shit!
I would have said something else!
"Dylan told him," I told him, obviously lying.
He stared at me, giving me a not-yet-satisfied gaze.
"Let's not even talk about Kieran; I'm asking to know more about your purpose for this marriage," I said, trying to divert his attention back to the question I'd earlier asked him.
"I thought I told you it was to strengthen the bloodline," he said.
"You've told me that, but all I'm asking is the reason why this is coming suddenly," I said.
"Nothing; it's just my idea," he said.
"Your idea," I repeated.
"Yes," he said. "I'd like the union to kick off in two days' time," he said, and I widened my eyes in surprise.
Why the rush?
He wants the wedding in two days' time? I was still not comfortable with the fact that he'd suddenly come up with the plans for the marriage, and to make things worse, he wants the wedding in two days' time. Is he hiding something from me?!
I swear I'm not going to allow the wedding to hold until I find out his reason for rushing things. If this is some kind of plan to use me as bait or to cover their tracks, then I won't let them succeed.
CHAPTER NINETEEN LUNA'S POVAfter the incident with Victor, the next day, I left the palace and headed back to my birth Pack, where I'm to resume my duty of taking care of the Prime cub. The drive back to my birth Pack was a long one, but after what looked like eternity, I arrived there. After doing some cleaning, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door, and I was surprised to see Dylan standing in front of me. How did he manage to know that I was no longer in Stone Prime? "Hi, come in," I said, slightly surprised. "You came back," he said while walking inside the house. "You know I'm the caretaker of the Prime cub; I'm supposed to come back here," I reminded him."Yeah, I know," he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on the couch. "What do you care for: a glass of wine, water, or something else?" I offered. "I'm okay, I just need to have a brief conversation with you," he told me. My hands were wet from the cleaning, so I said, "I'll be back in a minute." I walked int
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN VICTOR'S POV"Victor, let go of me. What's the meaning of this?" She asked me, feeling irritated. "Come on..." I tried speaking, but she cut me off. "Victor, get your damn hand off me!" She commanded, and then I decided to let go of her hands. "What the fuck was wrong with you?" I heard Xander, my wolf, scream inside my head. Goddamnit! Why couldn't I control myself? I shouldn't be the one to spoil things for myself. What should I do now? I know what she'll be thinking now, and if I eventually allow her to walk down that door, she might decide not to go on with the union. I shouldn't let that happen. Just as she pulled the handle of the door, I pushed it back, and it closed. I stood in front of the door when she asked, "Victor, what has come over you?" She asked me, very much provoked, though she's trying hard not to raise her voice. "I'm sorry, Luna. I don't know what came over me," I told her calmly. "You should be sorry for yourself!" She said coldly. "I
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN AUTHOR'S POV "You shouldn't bother about me, you're the only medicine I need to get better," he told her.His face is close to Luna and he he's still holding her tightly on her waist as though she was going to run away if he let go of her."Please," he told her and she could feel his breath on her face. But she isn't ready for this."Let's do this some other day," she told him."I want it now, let's have sex together, " he said in a commanding tone." Was this what he really wanted?" Luna mused. She's not going to have sex with him until their wedding night and if he isn't okay with it, he should forget about it."Not now, Victor, not now!" She told him."Not now? Then when?" He asked her slightly provoked."You have to wait until our wedding night." She told him."Our wedding night?" He said with a disparaging smile on his lips. "Why our wedding night? Luna, stop acting like a virgin!" He told her.She couldn't believe her ears. What has come over him?Embarrasse
CHAPTER SIXTEEN LUNA POVCould he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack."I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. "Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. "C
CHAPTER FIFTEEN VICTOR POVI was able to successfully convince Luna that Kieran was responsible for her attack, and that's what made me happy. I had wanted to leave the palace to meet with Ferdinand's mother, at least to extend my condolences, but I changed my mind. I wanted to be here to monitor things myself so that Kieran wouldn't come in and spoil everything. I knew Luna was mad at him and wasn't ready to talk to him, but things can change in a minute, and I'd have everything backfiring on me. I didn't want to make a silly mistake that I'd regret, so I'd stay right here in the palace until the day of the wedding. My initial plan was to convince her to accept that the wedding holds tomorrow but she refused it and I don't know why she's afraid of allowing the wedding to hold.I know Kieran must have told her something and that's the reason why she's objecting. That bastard is controlling and manipulative. But one thing is sure, I'll have to personally teach him a lesson. I'll make
CHAPTER FOURTEEN LUNA POV It's like I've been stabbed in the back. Kieran, of all people, is the one who tried to kill me. This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what h
