CHAPTER NINETEEN

LUNA'S POV

After the incident with Victor, the next day, I left the palace and headed back to my birth Pack, where I'm to resume my duty of taking care of the Prime cub. The drive back to my birth Pack was a long one, but after what looked like eternity, I arrived there. After doing some cleaning, I heard a knock at the door.

I opened the door, and I was surprised to see Dylan standing in front of me. How did he manage to know that I was no longer in Stone Prime?

"Hi, come in," I said, slightly surprised.

"You came back," he said while walking inside the house.

"You know I'm the caretaker of the Prime cub; I'm supposed to come back here," I reminded him.

"Yeah, I know," he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on the couch.

"What do you care for: a glass of wine, water, or something else?" I offered.

"I'm okay, I just need to have a brief conversation with you," he told me.

My hands were wet from the cleaning, so I said, "I'll be back in a minute."

I walked into the kitchen, grabbed a towel, cleaned my hands, and then came back into the living room.

"What conversation?" I asked him. I knew it was about nothing other than the marriage proposal from Victor.

"You want to get married to Victor?" he asked me. I took a deep breath and then said, "Kind of."

"I heard you accepted the proposal?" he asked me.

"I did, but I'm thinking of changing my mind," I told him.

"Why? What happened?" he asked me.

"I don't know, but I just feel like something isn't right," I told him.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come see you after hearing that you got attacked," he said.

"You don't need to say that," I said gently.

"How did it happen?" he asked me. "In the woods," I told him.

"What the hell were you doing at that time of night?" he demanded.

I looked around the house, as though checking if anyone was watching us, knowing that no one was. I leaned close to him and said, "I haven't told anyone my reason for going there. Pinky promise me you won't tell anyone," I said, holding up my pinky finger.

"I promise," he said guardedly.

"I had wanted to go meet with Witch Zena," I disclosed to him.

"What?!" He exclaimed, very much surprised.

Who wouldn't be surprised that I took the risk to meet Witch Zena? It's an adventure I've promised myself never to try again.

"How dare you take such a risk?" He asked me, his jaw half open due to shock.

"Why wouldn't I take such a risk when I'm finding it hard to trust anybody?" I asked him in a defensive tone, as though I was in a courtroom.

"What made you take such a risk? What if you got killed by some angry rogues, and given the fact that we still don't know what happened to your dead mate?" He asked me, looking concerned.

"I feel there's something Liam, Victor, and Kieran are hiding from me, and the only person who would have told me the whole truth was no one else but Witch Zena. I'm not trying to justify that I did the right thing by going there, but isn't it better for me to take that risk than to later regret entering a blind union?" I asked him.

"Then you should have just rejected the proposal rather than risking your life that way," he told me.

"It's easy to say, but this marriage is what I need to secure a position in the hierarchy," I told him.

"Was that what Liam told you?" he asked me.

"He promised me, and I know he'll keep his promise," I said.

"But you didn't succeed in meeting with Witch Zena, right?" he asked me.

"Yeah, I didn't," I shrugged.

"You got attacked on your way there?" he asked me.

"Yes, I did," I said.

"Do you have a clue about who attacked you?" he asked me.

"I don't know; that's where everything seems too complicated." I told him.

" I woke up from my unconscious state only to see that it was Kieran who'd saved me. It looks like he's the one responsible for the attack." I added.

"How sure are you?" He demanded.

"I'm very sure about what I'm saying.." I told him.

"Then I will have to meet with Kieran and hear from him." He told me.

"He's obviously gonna tell you lies." I told him.

"Allow me carry out my investigations," he told me.

***

Two days ago Victor met with me and apologized for what he did. I forgave him and decided to go on with the wedding plans.

I'd accepted the plans for the wedding, and it's obviously going to take place in a week's time. I went to the boutique; Victor had wanted to go with me, but I insisted on going alone. Walking into the boutique, I met one of the sales representatives.

"Hi," I started.

"Good day, ma'am," she greeted.

"Did your boss tell you anything?" I asked.

"Are you Luna?" She asked, and I nodded.

"Alright, come with me," she told me and walked inside, and I followed suit.

As soon as I entered another room in the boutique, she showed me a wedding gown that looked amazing.

"Wow, it's so beautiful," I commented.

"Do you like it?" she asked, smirking.

"I love it!" I said, with genuine euthusiasm.

"Luna," a familiar voice called my name. I turned around to see who it was, and it happened to be Kieran.

What on earth was he doing here?!

"Luna, I can tell you who's behind the attack," he told me.

Is he here to tell me another lie?

"You should have asked about Ferdinand," he said.

Who's Ferdinand?

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN VICTOR'S POV"Victor, let go of me. What's the meaning of this?" She asked me, feeling irritated. "Come on..." I tried speaking, but she cut me off. "Victor, get your damn hand off me!" She commanded, and then I decided to let go of her hands. "What the fuck was wrong with you?" I heard Xander, my wolf, scream inside my head. Goddamnit! Why couldn't I control myself? I shouldn't be the one to spoil things for myself. What should I do now? I know what she'll be thinking now, and if I eventually allow her to walk down that door, she might decide not to go on with the union. I shouldn't let that happen. Just as she pulled the handle of the door, I pushed it back, and it closed. I stood in front of the door when she asked, "Victor, what has come over you?" She asked me, very much provoked, though she's trying hard not to raise her voice. "I'm sorry, Luna. I don't know what came over me," I told her calmly. "You should be sorry for yourself!" She said coldly. "I

He asked her slightly provoked."You have to wait until our wedding night." She told him."Our wedding night?" He said with a disparaging smile on his lips. "Why our wedding night? CHAPTER SIXTEEN LUNA POVCould he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack."I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. "Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. "C

CHAPTER FIFTEEN VICTOR POVI was able to successfully convince Luna that Kieran was responsible for her attack, and that's what made me happy. I had wanted to leave the palace to meet with Ferdinand's mother, at least to extend my condolences, but I changed my mind. I wanted to be here to monitor things myself so that Kieran wouldn't come in and spoil everything. I knew Luna was mad at him and wasn't ready to talk to him, but things can change in a minute, and I'd have everything backfiring on me. I didn't want to make a silly mistake that I'd regret, so I'd stay right here in the palace until the day of the wedding. My initial plan was to convince her to accept that the wedding holds tomorrow but she refused it and I don't know why she's afraid of allowing the wedding to hold.I know Kieran must have told her something and that's the reason why she's objecting. That bastard is controlling and manipulative. But one thing is sure, I'll have to personally teach him a lesson. I'll make

This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what h
