Ready

CHAPTER SIXTEEN 

LUNA POV

Could he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack.

"I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. 

"Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. 

I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. 

"Come on my queen, you know that Kieran had overheard that you're getting married to me soon, he's going to try his best to work against me." He told me.

He's going to work against the wedding because of what? 

My mind is a maze, and I'm lost in it. 

"My mind is a jumbled mess. I don't know who to believe." I told him.

Then he leans closer to me and said, "Kieran loves you, and I feel that's the reason why he's trying all he can to stop the marriage." 

Why's he talking about this? Kieran hadn't mentioned anything like that to me; I don't even know if he does love me. I don't see a reason why Kieran would be fighting tooth and nail to stop the wedding. 

"But you know Kieran hasn't disclosed to me that he likes me, but has he told you anything like that?" I asked him, sceptical. 

"Not at all," he shrugged his shoulders. 

"Then why are you overemphasizing this?" I asked him. 

"How do you know?" 

"Instinct tells me that Kieran loves you, and like I said earlier, that's the reason why he planned all that crap to make you feel that he's your hero. Believe me..." he told me.

"But Liam was telling Kieran that he's carrying out investigations." I told him.

But on a second thought, Kieran was the one pushing for an investigation to begin. If he truly has hands in this, then why was he pushing for that?

"There aren't any cameras in the woods. He knew that even if an investigation should begin, they wouldn't be able to get him." He told me. 

I remained silent, puzzled by the possibilities. 

"Hope you now understand what I'm saying?" He asked me.

"Are there CCTV cameras in your house?" I asked him. 

If there are CCTV cameras, which they definitely would be, videos of the people who attacked him would be there. 

"Yes, there are," he said, nodding his head. 

"Then let's check the CCTV cameras to see if we can get footage of those who attacked you," I told him.

His eyes widened, and I couldn't tell if he was uncomfortable with the idea or happy.

" You're right anyway, Liam's still going on with the investigation and soon enough, he'll get to know who was responsible for this." Victor said.

Why isn't he ready to answer my previous question?

If that's the case, then I'll make sure, he gives in.

" Haven't you taken any medication?" I demanded from him.

" I would have, but I decided to first come see you. My priority now is to make sure you're okay." He told me.

The injuries I'd from the attack ain't much, he should have taken care of himself before coming to see me.

" You're feeling some pain right?" I asked him.

"Yes I do," he told me.

"Alright, let me go get you some pain killers," I told him.

"But you ain't strong enough to move about," he said looking concern.

"I'm fine," I said with a reassuring smile.

I stepped out of the room, exited the palace, and hailed a taxi. After instructing the driver to take me to a nearby pharmacy, I arrived and purchased painkillers. 

I then headed back to the palace, entered the guestroom, and handed the medications to Victor. He took them from me, saying, "Thanks a lot." 

I replied casually, "You're welcome." 

However, to my surprise, he dropped the medications beside the bed without taking them. "Aren't you going to take the medicine?" I asked and then I looked at him.

Our eyes met. And all of a sudden, he leans in and kissed me. 

I was shocked and I couldn't even move. 

The next minute, he wrapped his hand around my waist, and I found myself responding to his kisses. I knew I ain't supposed to do this. Not now, especially at this time that I'm finding it hard to believe this people.

I slowly pushed him away and his lips curled into a gentle smile, "what's the problem? Why are you pushing me away?" 

"I don't think we should do this now," I told him.

"Why shouldn't we?" He asked me and walked closer to me and then he held my waist.

"You're mine already," he said possessively.

"I know I'm yours already but we should wait until the right time," I told him.

"When is the right time?" He asked me.

Right now, I've got to give him an excuse. I can't have sex with him now.

"Take a look at yourself, you're hurt all over your body," I reminded him but he's not looking like someone who's ready to listen to me.

"Never mind," he said still holding me on my waist. His grip was tighter and I can't even tell what's in his mind and what he's trying to do.
