Joseph was thinking it very seriously, although there was barely a mischievous smile on his face. Karen had showered and dressed him and was combing his hair when Hansen came and told them his plans to outwit the police and the men who were following them.
“What do you say, son?” Hansen asked him. “Do you think you can do it?”
“I think I’ve seen girl’s clothes around here,” Karen said. “It will only be for a while, until we get out of the state.”
Joseph chuckled.
“I don’t think I look pretty dressed as a girl.”
“Well, we’ll see that,” Karen kissed him on the cheek. “I’ll be right back.”
She left the room and went to the next one in search of clothes. Hansen sat down next to Joseph, he felt the smell of children’s soap and shampoo. Joseph stared at him for a moment and then snuggled against him. Hansen hugged him.
