Kayla's pov
A few days later,
Things seemed to have calmed down a lot, Justin and I went back to the way we used to be, he treated me with so much love just as he used to.
It suddenly felt like nothing happened but somehow the spark between both of us had quenched, I couldn't get the reality off my mind that Justin cheated on me. It feels like one day I will find out that he is with another woman again, I just can't trust him like I used to.
I woke up very early in the morning and sat up on the bed staring at his face. He doesn't look like the man I used to know anymore and it hurts.
“Hey.” He said to me with a bright smile on his face as he was stretching on the bed.
“Good morning.” I replied softly.
“How is my little one doing?” He asked as he placed his head on my belly. It felt like the baby is the only thing we both have now that is making our bond still a little strong.
“She's doing great.” He looked at me childishly.
“You know it's a he right?” He asked, trying to start a cute argument but I was obviously not in the mood for such a thing.
“I need to go make breakfast.” Justin was obviously disappointed. He is trying to build back the bond that he broke but it seems totally impossible for him to do it because every time he tries I will look for a way to stop him.
I stood up from the bed and stepped out of the room. The moment I was out of the room I realized I might have been wrong for doing such a thing but it's just something I don't have control over anymore.
I couldn't take a step away from where I was standing, it feels like I'm going to be like this forever. Maybe I'm torturing myself by staying married to him.

While I was making breakfast I felt masculine touch around my waist, the touch that used to give me butterflies suddenly felt like a disturbance to me.
“Why don't we get help?” He whispered in my ears.
“I don't think that would be necessary.” I replied almost immediately and continued what I was doing.
“Kayla, I know you want to do these things by yourself but now is not the right time. You are carrying our child so you need to have enough rest to avoid pregnancy complications.” I felt suddenly irritated while listening to him so much that I needed him to shut up.
“Justin.” I called his name a little on top of my voice, he stopped caressing my waist when he heard my tone.
I tried to stay calm because he is only looking after my well-being and he didn't mean any harm by trying to get us a maid.
“Like I said, I'm fine.” I said angrily and walked away.
Sally and I already agreed to meet at a restaurant.
********
“Hey sweetie.” Sally said with a bright smile on her face the moment she saw me at the restaurant, we hugged and sat down on the chair.
“Thank you for coming, I feel like I'm losing my mind.”
“Come on, you know I would do anything for you.” Sally said to me, holding my hand with a soft smile on her face.
“I don't know what I would do without you.” I replied a little above a whisper.
“What is it this time? What did that son of a bitch do to my best friend?”
“He hasn't done anything wrong, well that's what any other person would think but I feel wronged.” I said to her worriedly.
“Why?”
“He's switched up so quickly, immediately turning into a good husband, I mean he's acting like nothing happened and it's driving me crazy, I really don't know what to do. I thought I would be able to move past this phase and just forgive him like nothing happened but I don't think I can.” I ended the conversation with a lower tone as I was slowly getting emotional.
“Hey, look at me, don't you dare feel bad for feeling this way, you were betrayed, the trust you had on him was broken, it's a hard pill to take it but you took it all, so you have every right to feel this way, with time you'll get over everything.” Sally tried advising me.
“I want a divorce, but you know that it's going to be hard for me to get custody of the gallery right now, I have to be smart about it else I'll lose everything to him.” Sally became calm when she heard what I said.
“Are you sure about this?” She asked to confirm if the divorce is really what I want right now.
“Yes.”
“I support you.” She replied with a faint smile on her face, I know that she wasn't actually in support because she knows how I used to be on love with Justin.
“I miss our old days so much, now it's like I'm being forced to be with him, everytime I look at his face I remember what he did to me.” Sally looked at my face and tried to understand what I was feeling.
“How's work going?” Has Leon being frustrating you of late?” Sally asked trying to switch topics.
“You know he's never going to change, he wants me to finish a case in two days, how's that even possible? At this point I think quitting may be my next alternative. I miss when we used to work together, I can't believe you're not returning.” I said to Sally childishly and we both laughed about it.
Just then my phone lit up to the sound of a message notification, I picked it from the table immediately with a smile on my face.
But the moment I saw the content of the message, my smile faded, my heart was beating faster than normal, my hands were shaky, my biggest fear had finally turned into reality. And because of the shock I felt a sharp pain in my belly.
“Kayla, talk to me! Are you okay?” I could only hear the echoes of her voice.
Kayla's POVIt's been almost a month already since I started my gallery, and it's been going very well, which is something I never imagined would happen, and the biggest news is what I received last night.I can't believe that the same company that invested in the gallery Justin took away from me is the same gallery that wants to invest in my new project. This is very good news. It feels like the stars are aligning for me.“What's going on? You look very excited.” Sally said the moment she returned home and saw me looking so excited, she called immediately to tell me that there is either good news or I'm just in a good mood. Yesterday when I returned from my mom's house, I was very sad, but receiving the good news today frightened my mood very much. I still haven't been able to speak to Sally about the conversation that I had with my mom yesterday when I went to visit her because I am sort of still in denial because it's so hard for me to accept that I will never receive the kind of l
Zach's POVI decided to focus on work and forget about everything that happened at home and the reason why I had to leave. I know that definitely my dad is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that my brother is part of the executive team in this company, but I'm going to make sure that it doesn't work out the way he wants because I'm the one that is going to take this company after him.I really don't care what his mom did that made my dad indebted to her; I would make sure that he doesn't have any huge share in this company.“Yes, come in.” I said to the person that was knocking on the office door, I hate it so much whenever they knock because it clearly means that there is either good news or bad news.“Sir, your dad made a phone call to the board saying that there will be an emergency board meeting tomorrow morning.” Just as I had instructed my personal assistant. I told him to make sure to inform me whenever my dad makes a phone call today about any board meeting or any oth
Writer's povWhen Sally returned home, she noticed that Kayla was nowhere to be found in the house. Though she was worried, she thought there was no reason to be alarmed because Kayla told her earlier that she would be fine going all the way to see her mom by herself. Sally knew how annoying Kayla’s mom can be, which is why she was worried, but she controlled herself from doing anything that’ll put her in a bad place with Kayla.“Did she make anything before leaving?” Sally asked herself and stood up to go check the kitchen, and just as she thought, Kayla had already prepared a delicious meal because she knew that Sally might be hungry when she returned.“She’s the absolute best.” Sally said excitedly and served herself, then she remembered her visit to Kendrick's house and how she had to spend the day there for no good reason. She was wondering why he even called her in the first place when he had nothing important to tell her.A few minutes later Sally was done eating, and Kayla was
Sally PovI felt very uncomfortable in his apartment because this is obviously where he lives with his family and it’s a little awkward to have his staff visiting his house like that. Kendrick Arrived here a few minutes ago and he is yet to tell me the reason why he made me come all the way here in the first place he’s been so busy with his laptop that he obviously has forgotten I exist here.“Sir.” I called in a very soft tone trying to get his attention so that he will finally tell me the reason why he told me come to his apartment because I could clearly hear the sound of his mom‘s footsteps walking down the steps and it seems like my soul is about to leave my body just hearing her footsteps then what happens when she gets here.“Who are you?” Her voice was so scary that I almost Peed on my body the moment I heard half voice. My head went blank immediately and I couldn’t see anything or introduce myself to her. I was kind of hoping that Kendrick would do the introduction for me but
Writer’s povAfter Sally’s short meeting, she was about to head back to the house when she got a phone call from her boss. She was wondering why Kendrick chose to call her now that she was ready to return home because she knew he was definitely calling her to send her on another errand, and she’s been avoiding that. She picked up the call after hesitating for a while.“Where are you?” Sally found it very rude that that’s the first thing he could ask her when she picked up the call.“Just finished the meeting with…”“Ohh, I know about the meeting.” He cuts in immediately, which was really frustrating to her. She was wondering why he would cut in like that, leaving her completely speechless and unable to say anything to him.“I will send you an address. I want you to be on your way there immediately.” Sally was confused because the only job she clearly remembered she had was the meeting, so why was she being sent on another errand this time? The sad part is that there’s no way she would
Good morning.” Sally greeted while setting the dining. Kayla was rubbing her eyes because she just woke up.“Morning.” She said in a grumpy way and moved the chair so that she could sit and have breakfast with Sally.“You suddenly stormed out of the house last night; what was so urgent?” Sally asked Kayla curiously while both of them were about to start eating.“I had something urgent to take care of.” Kayla replied almost immediately, but Sally was not convinced by her reply because she was expecting a better story from Kayla.“I tried calling you several times, but you weren't picking up your calls, and then you returned home very late last night. I was so worried about you.” Kayla knew that she definitely messed up last night when she didn't tell Sally about where she was headed, but it already happened, so there's no point crying over spilled milk; the only thing she has to do now is make Sally believe that there's nothing wrong with her and that last night something urgent really
