Kayla's pov
A few days later,
Things seemed to have calmed down a lot, Justin and I went back to the way we used to be, he treated me with so much love just as he used to.
It suddenly felt like nothing happened but somehow the spark between both of us had quenched, I couldn't get the reality off my mind that Justin cheated on me. It feels like one day I will find out that he is with another woman again, I just can't trust him like I used to.
I woke up very early in the morning and sat up on the bed staring at his face. He doesn't look like the man I used to know anymore and it hurts.
“Hey.” He said to me with a bright smile on his face as he was stretching on the bed.
“Good morning.” I replied softly.
“How is my little one doing?” He asked as he placed his head on my belly. It felt like the baby is the only thing we both have now that is making our bond still a little strong.
“She's doing great.” He looked at me childishly.
“You know it's a he right?” He asked, trying to start a cute argument but I was obviously not in the mood for such a thing.
“I need to go make breakfast.” Justin was obviously disappointed. He is trying to build back the bond that he broke but it seems totally impossible for him to do it because every time he tries I will look for a way to stop him.
I stood up from the bed and stepped out of the room. The moment I was out of the room I realized I might have been wrong for doing such a thing but it's just something I don't have control over anymore.
I couldn't take a step away from where I was standing, it feels like I'm going to be like this forever. Maybe I'm torturing myself by staying married to him.

While I was making breakfast I felt masculine touch around my waist, the touch that used to give me butterflies suddenly felt like a disturbance to me.
“Why don't we get help?” He whispered in my ears.
“I don't think that would be necessary.” I replied almost immediately and continued what I was doing.
“Kayla, I know you want to do these things by yourself but now is not the right time. You are carrying our child so you need to have enough rest to avoid pregnancy complications.” I felt suddenly irritated while listening to him so much that I needed him to shut up.
“Justin.” I called his name a little on top of my voice, he stopped caressing my waist when he heard my tone.
I tried to stay calm because he is only looking after my well-being and he didn't mean any harm by trying to get us a maid.
“Like I said, I'm fine.” I said angrily and walked away.
Sally and I already agreed to meet at a restaurant.
********
“Hey sweetie.” Sally said with a bright smile on her face the moment she saw me at the restaurant, we hugged and sat down on the chair.
“Thank you for coming, I feel like I'm losing my mind.”
“Come on, you know I would do anything for you.” Sally said to me, holding my hand with a soft smile on her face.
“I don't know what I would do without you.” I replied a little above a whisper.
“What is it this time? What did that son of a bitch do to my best friend?”
“He hasn't done anything wrong, well that's what any other person would think but I feel wronged.” I said to her worriedly.
“Why?”
“He's switched up so quickly, immediately turning into a good husband, I mean he's acting like nothing happened and it's driving me crazy, I really don't know what to do. I thought I would be able to move past this phase and just forgive him like nothing happened but I don't think I can.” I ended the conversation with a lower tone as I was slowly getting emotional.
“Hey, look at me, don't you dare feel bad for feeling this way, you were betrayed, the trust you had on him was broken, it's a hard pill to take it but you took it all, so you have every right to feel this way, with time you'll get over everything.” Sally tried advising me.
“I want a divorce, but you know that it's going to be hard for me to get custody of the gallery right now, I have to be smart about it else I'll lose everything to him.” Sally became calm when she heard what I said.
“Are you sure about this?” She asked to confirm if the divorce is really what I want right now.
“Yes.”
“I support you.” She replied with a faint smile on her face, I know that she wasn't actually in support because she knows how I used to be on love with Justin.
“I miss our old days so much, now it's like I'm being forced to be with him, everytime I look at his face I remember what he did to me.” Sally looked at my face and tried to understand what I was feeling.
“How's work going?” Has Leon being frustrating you of late?” Sally asked trying to switch topics.
“You know he's never going to change, he wants me to finish a case in two days, how's that even possible? At this point I think quitting may be my next alternative. I miss when we used to work together, I can't believe you're not returning.” I said to Sally childishly and we both laughed about it.
Just then my phone lit up to the sound of a message notification, I picked it from the table immediately with a smile on my face.
But the moment I saw the content of the message, my smile faded, my heart was beating faster than normal, my hands were shaky, my biggest fear had finally turned into reality. And because of the shock I felt a sharp pain in my belly.
“Kayla, talk to me! Are you okay?” I could only hear the echoes of her voice.
Writer's povThe day started quietly, without any sign that something important was about to happen. Zach and Kendrick were in the living room, going through old files again. The kidnap case had dragged on for weeks, and though Ella was still moving freely, there had always been a question mark over her. They just hadn’t been able to prove anything.Kayla and Sally were in the kitchen, making tea. The air felt lighter since they escaped, Everyone knew Ella wouldn’t stop until something finally happened. It was Kendrick who noticed the small envelope tucked inside one of the files the police had returned earlier. At first, he thought it was nothing, just another overlooked paper. But when he pulled it out and unfolded it, his eyes stopped. There, clear as day, was a printed copy of a message. It was an email Ella had sent to one of the hired men who had guarded Kayla and Sally during their abduction. The message was short and direct, arranging payment. It even included her name at the
Writer's povKayla was seated in the room, thinking about her decision to go back to Zach, she knew Sally was happy to hear it but that does not mean that Zach would be happy about it, she stood up from the bed and headed downstairs so she could speak to Sally a little more.Sally sat comfortably on the couch using her phone, one leg tucked under the other. She got distracted by Kayla's presence and she stared at her for a while. She knew when something was weighing heavily on Kayla, even when Kayla tried to cover it with silence.“You’re still thinking about him,” Sally said simply, breaking the silence.Kayla glanced up, meeting her friend’s eyes for a brief moment before looking away again. “I don’t know how to go about it, I feel like I'm doing something wrong.”Sally gave a small laugh. “Please. You’ve been quiet for days, and every time Zach’s name comes up, you stiffen like someone just pulled a cord. I know you, Kay. You love him, can you stop being stubborn about it? I know y
Writer's povSally and Kayla were very happy about everything that has happened so far because they have been very distant from both brothers, Kendrick and Sally also paused their relationship for a while because she doesn't know how to explain the situation to him so she just concluded that it's better she gives him distance which has been a very tough decision for both of them. I don't know why they are still pretending not to want each other.Kendrick used every means possible to tell her and what she didn't even careers about her but Sally isn't sure of having it because even though when she was missing she kept thinking about him, but she don't want to jump into the conclusion just because she thinks every time she says or say praise for him people seem more concerned.****””Kendrick decided to stop chasing after her so that she doesn't get to the stage of being irritated around him just because he chose to not give up. The whole thing was a total mess at this point and his marr
Writer's povIt was already evening, the kind that makes every sound seem louder, sharper, more noticeable. Kayla sat in her small apartment, Sally asleep in her crib, the soft hum of the fan the only thing filling the room. She tried to focus on routine—checking messages, tidying the living room—but her mind kept drifting, haunted by thoughts of Zach and the uncertainty of their breakup. She had decided to step away for what she thought was the greater good, to protect Zach and Sally from Ella’s obsession. And yet, even in the quiet of her apartment, a small voice whispered that danger had not disappeared. She could feel it, a prickle at the back of her neck, the sense that someone was watching, waiting.Outside, Ella moved silently, shadows clinging to her as she surveyed the streets surrounding Kayla’s building. Her plan had been long in the making, and now the moment had arrived. Kayla had left Zach, but that didn’t matter—Ella wouldn’t allow the obstacle to remain. She cannot exi
Writer's povThe day had begun quietly, the kind of ordinary morning that contrasted sharply with the tension lingering in Zach’s chest. He made coffee, half-listening to the news, staring out the kitchen window as if the world beyond could give him answers. But it wouldn’t. Not today. Not ever.Kayla had left. She had walked out of his life, supposedly for their safety, and yet Zach refused to believe it. He replayed every conversation, every glance, every word spoken between them, searching for signs, for hidden meanings. He couldn’t reconcile the reality of the breakup with the woman he knew—the woman who loved him.“She didn’t mean it,” he muttered to Kendrick, pacing the small living room. “She couldn’t mean it. Kayla… she wouldn’t just leave me like that.”Kendrick leaned against the doorframe, arms folded. “Zach… she said it. You heard her. She made her choice. We can’t ignore that. We have to accept it and move forward.”“I can’t,” Zach said sharply, frustration threading his
Writer's povElla paced back and forth in her small apartment, the walls closing in around her. Her mind was a whirlwind of disbelief, anger, and obsession. The phone call she had intercepted earlier—or rather, the messages she had seen—had thrown her into a state she wasn’t used to: confusion.Kayla… she left him? She actually left him? The thought refused to settle. Ella stopped mid-step, hands pressed to her temples. No. That can’t be. They’re lying. They have to be lying. They’re trying to trick me, make me feel… foolish. Her eyes darted across the room, landing on the notepad where she had written down every step, every contingency. Her plans, meticulously crafted, had always assumed Zach’s attention and Kayla’s defiance. And now, the idea that Kayla had actually chosen to leave Zach was tearing through her like fire.Ella’s lips pressed into a thin line, her fists clenching. They’re playing with me. They have to be. Her heartbeat quickened. She could not tolerate deception. Not
