He adjusted the monitor. I watched his face change. His eyes narrowed.

He stared at the screen.

“Hold on.”

He pulled the paper out and looked at the monitor again.

“Give me one second.”

He walked over and grabbed another doctor. I looked at Shane. Something was wrong. Something was fucking going on.

The other doctor walked over.

Dr. Chen pointed toward the heart monitor.

“Listen to this.”

I watched them both.

“What?” the other doctor asked.

“Do you hear that, Dr. Baker?”
