Chapter 9 – Planet Guizer

Mia had a Planet History class after her morning run & shower with Master Alex. It would be in room 2a. She was a little early so decided to go via the mess hall and help herself to a choc custard. She only allowed herself to have a little a week because she loved them so much and unchecked this addiction could ruin her figure. She had a classic hourglass figure, or she had been told by one of the girls that read all the rich people gossip news, that she had absolutely no interest in. She had left her thick wavy hair out because it was still drying from the shower but now it was starting to annoy her so she chucked it up in a piggy tail and headed for class.

Master Alex was in the room waiting, so was Mac and the other trainees, just Jenny was missing.

“Trainee’s get your comm’s out and open the document Planet Guizer History and start reading until you get to chapter 5.”

There was a collective groan, Mia didn’t actually know much about this planet so she was a bit intrigued.

She Started to read about a planet who was always at war, there were two main people groups, the Zoe and Hoos fighting for control of the planet and because they were always at war, the whole planet suffered. They didn’t have much advanced technology, they had very little formal education, poor nutrition, poor hygiene practices, negative population growth and their life expectancy was about 38 years. How sad, Mia thought.

Just then Mac called out “Hey Instructor Alex, you been to planet Guizer in your life time”

Although we didn’t know much about our Masters, Mac had figured out that if you asked Master Alex the right question, he always had a story about each of the Planets he taught about. We figured he must have had a job that he got to visit a lot of different places, he might have even been rich with some of the resources he had access to. Listening to stories was actually more interesting that reading off a comm.

“Well Alex started, I haven’t actually been to the planet although its not a place anyone would really want to go to either from . . . information I have seen. But I did come across some inhabitants once, they tried to relieve me of my ship and other valuables. As it happens our ship had a malfunctioning ship detection system, so they were able to sneak up on us. Before we knew it they had breached our side hatch and were making themselves at home. I will never forget how filthy they looked and how they stunk. You didn’t need to wonder where they were you could smell where they were. Anyway we couldn’t use most of our weapons because we didn’t want to damage the ship, so we only used hand to hand, I thought they would have been better trained then they were, being from a war planet. They got distracted very easily. One of my female fellow travellers was woken from her sleep by the commotion and joined the fight wearing only her . . .urm . . . sleep wear. As soon as they seen her it was like they forgot they were ment to be fighting. She took down half their number single handed.” He gave a quick chuckle as he remembered the events.

“No way!” Mac said “Your making that up”

Master Alex replied “I couldn’t make up a story that bad, even if I tried. Anyway, I seen you have distracted me again, what’s the time?” At that moment the Supply Ship approach bell sounded. “Oh well that looks like that’s all for us today, please report to the loading bay to help unload supplies.

“Yesss” said Mia under her breath and raced with the rest of the trainees out the door.
