The man stopped and turned back to her. His face was twisted in anger and he marched back up to Aurora. She gave him a confused look and dodged him and went around.
"Is there a reason you are doing this sir? I don't know you," she said innocently.
"Just shut up and come with me." he snapped and went after her.
Aurora laughed and waited for him to approach her. She looked around to see if there was anyone but since it was just the two of them she decided to drop the sweet act. The man reached for her arm and she swiftly dodged him and sent a kick right in between his legs.
The man yelled in pain and fell to his knees. "You bitch- you- you- shit!"
Aurora's face twisted in disgust. She had no idea what came over this man to even try to touch her but he made a grave mistake doing so. She lifted her leg and put a lot of force into the kick she sent to his head. He was sent rolling a few meters and his cries became silent. Aurora was not bothered with whether he was alive or not she simply shrugged. Hopefully, the mall police will handle that creep.
As she was walking through the food court innocently munching on another pretzel since the one she had, had been contaminated, she saw Caden standing looking around and in front of him was a girl that was trying to get his attention. He paid her little mind and swept her out of the way with his hand and then his eyes locked on hers and he gave her a scowl. Aurora gave him an innocent smile and when she walked up to him the girl was still trailing behind him.
"Stop being mean and give her your number. I'm sure she is very interested in you." she gave the girl a sympathetic look and gave him back a scowl.
"Stop wasting time and come here." he grabbed Aurora's arm and pulled her away from the girl.
"What is up with people pulling me?" she mumbled irritated.
Caden paused and looked back at her. "Did you run into trouble? You see this is why you need me-"
"Slow your roll pretty boy, I didn't," she said and pulled away from him. "Now how about we leave. This place gives the creeps."
As they walked Aurora rubbed hand sanitizer all over her arms. She could still feel that disgusting man's grip on her. His behavior is another reason for her to stay away from men. Aurora considered liking girls instead but she could not seem to convince herself she swung that way and so she was stuck being attracted to men.
At home, she was laying on the couch looking at her parents' work. Caden, along with the other guards were standing around the living room looking all serious.
"It's becoming increasingly dangerous and we have not been able to get any information on what the other groups are doing. Getting someone to spy in one of those groups is so difficult. Start staying home more from now on, ok Princess."
"Sure." Aurora agreed.
"If there was just a way to know. They are such a careful and tight-knit group that it's hard for just anyone to get in. Honey, why don't we send Aurora. It could be good practice for her and she could get better at fighting and learning about everything there is to know." her mom said.
Aurora gave them a surprised look. She couldn't say it was the first time they said something like that but not to that level. Infiltrating the enemy was such a dangerous task, especially for her. It wasn't exactly a secret that she was Aurora Fraiser. A simple background check and they would figure out who she is.
"No, no that won't work. Erasing her from the system would take too much work and erasing everything on the internet would be even more impossible."
She heard a small chuckle from being her and saw Caden with a smirk on his face. She sent a clear disgusted look to him and was tempted to flip him off but her parents were right there.
Later that night she left the house, not to go to a fight but to go to her apartment. With the money she had from her fights, she rented an apartment in the city and used it as her little escape. I had the most perfect view of the city and she wished sometimes that she lived up here instead of in their house in Queens.
Aurora made sure that when she walked to the apartment she was not followed. Caden could be a problem but rival groups as well, they could simply see Aurora Fraiser walking down the road and follow her. Since she was out of the house a lot it was a wonder that she had not been kidnapped and used for ransom or something. She didn't attract attention and made sure to cover her face with a hoodie, but it was still mindboggling.
As she sat on the balcony, with the chilly wind nipping at her skin and making goosebumps rise, she thought about what she could do to help her parents.
"I'm sure there have to be some people in the underground fights that are a part of the group. Maybe I can ask Chelly, since he runs the place he'll know, right. He has to check out everyone to know they aren't going to cause trouble." she mumbled to herself. "My next fight is in... two days I think. That would be a perfect time to start looking for them. And in the meantime, I will do as much research in the groups as possible."
She took a nice hot shower and then went back home. Aurora was tempted to spend the night there but she knew that her bodyguard would freak out and her parents just told her to stay home and she disappeared. They would definitely ground her. It's not like that could do something to stop her but they might search her room for a way to escape and that would not be ideal.
The next day Aurora found herself in her parents' study trying to find information about their main threat. She made sure to avoid Caden so that he would not ask questions about what she was doing.
She flipped through files and files of information. The group was called Delta and they had always been second to the Fraisers. There were maps in the files that pointed out their hideout locations over the past years and the latest marking was up to five years ago. Since there was a pattern with their consistent moving, she assumed that they weren't in the same place.
Aurora never really paid much attention to the group since they didn't pose much of the threat for a long time but her parents always kept track of them just in case they decided to try and start something. And that was what was happening recently. They have been growing in numbers and they are branching off into smaller groups and partnering with others as well. It seems that they are planning something big with all the people they are assembling.
All of her findings were marked down on a notepad she brought. Her parents always assumed that she was not interested in this sort of thing and that was the image she did put out but she was just avoiding the responsibility of being in charge of something or being heavily involved in her parent's work. Aurora put back all of the things she took out and sat in deep thought when the study door opened.
She expected one of her parents but it was just Caden. She sighed heavily and decided to ignore him.
"Are you sulking because you don't understand anything? Well, that's what happens when you play dress-up for most of your life. What's the point of you trying anyway? Want to take the workload from your parents? How sweet and thoughtful, like a Princess."
Aurora simply turned her head away from him. She was trying to connect the dots. The groups have been making a lot of noise by their Fraiser ports and have even disturbed some of their shipments. Thankfully there hasn't been anything too violent. Although it can escalate quickly if the numbers in their attack rise. It could be possible that they want to take over the port, steal all of their merchandise, and basically take their spot. Her parents were arms dealers and brought in and out weapons up to military-grade. But they made most of it. They even sold to some government facilities before. That is where most of their income comes from.
Aurora had been to the port before and knows the layout but she had a map of her own back at her apartment. If all the gangs and groups decide to band together then it could cause a headache for a lot of people. And the possibility of a mole was also there. Her parents probably came to the same conclusion as she did so all she needs to do is figure out what they're planning. The best option would be to beef up security but then again they don't know who would be the snake in the group.
Delta was like that. Filled with dishonest and slippery snakes. So the chances of one slithering their way into the Fraiser group was unsettlingly high.
Caden grew up in a relatively simple family with a simple life. He didn't have any siblings and so he got most of his parents' attention. His mother was Korean whose parents had migrated from Korea when they got married, and his father was a white American. They were both very hardworking and loving. Always making time for him and trying hard to give him everything a child needs, and wants from time to time. He loved and appreciated them. But then one day, when he was fourteen, while he was at school, his parents got killed in a home invasion. That left him to be taken into foster care and for a while he fell into depression. He could not eat, sleep and do anything. His foster parents tried their best to help him but he never paid them any mind.Soon enough he realized that he could not go on like that and he vowed to himself that he wo
"I don't have to tell you anything." Aurora rolled her eyes. She began to take her hair down from its braid and she messages her head. Caden looked at her with a dumb expression and if the situation wasn't so serious she would have laughed. This was not how she wanted this night to go. And he just had to find her on the night she was trying to follow the people from Delta. He walked towards her with a threatening look on his face. She only ignored him as she rummaged through her bag for a change of clothes. She had brought two. One to change into now so that when she followed them they would not recognize her and one to change into when she went to her apartment to bathe after."Listen, I'm not in the mood for your brattiness. So just spill it."
Aurora didn't want to open her door. She knew what was on the other side and she chanted in her head the opposite. Being as silent as possible she carpet towards it and then opened it. And there, leaning on the opposite wall was Caden, dressed in a sweater and jeans but he had his hair down. Aurora would have shamelessly checked it out if it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want him there. As soon as they made eye contact, she went to close her door but it was stopped by and hand and Caden opened it fully. She rolled her eyes and groaned as she tried to close the door."Don't you have answers for me?""I don't have to tell you anything." she struggled against his strength."Where were you after the fight?"
"Oh," her voice dropped and so did her eyes. "Is that what he told you."They both looked at her with their arms crossed. Aurora didn't even spare a glance at Caden not wanting to see his face. And if it was an interesting one then it could break her performance."Just tell us the truth, ok," her dad pressed."Well... the truth is... that he's been threatening me." it came out as barely a whisper. Her parents looked at her in surprise before glancing over at Caden. Aurora still refrained from looking at his face."I had a bad feeling about him since, the beginning. I know it was mostly because of Carson leaving but he started saying word things and demanding money from me and threate
As soon as she found the opening, she gripped Caden's hands and ripped them off of her. There was a moment of distraction because of her mom and used that to her advantage to pin him down.He grunted in shock as she twisted his body and brought his back behind his body. She kicked out his knees and once he fell to the ground he tightened her grip and wrapped her free arm around his throat. He twisted his neck and craned it to see her."Wow, the Princess is tough. Honestly would have never seen it coming." he gave her a smile.Aurora rolled her eyes and held him tighter. "If this was your plan. To come here and threaten me then you have certainty underestimated me. You have no chance of getting out of here alive. So I suggest you just let me do the honors of killing you."
Caden walked into her room and he stood up next to her bed. Aurora looked at him waiting for him to speak. He looked around for a while and then at her."Come on pretty boy I don't have all night." she urged and he only stared at her. After a minute he spoke, "What do you want to know first?""How did you get the information?" she asked. He let out a heavy breath, "My friends told me. They are a part of one of the smaller groups that were recruited by Delta. They are all afraid and don't want to be a part of it but are afraid of what Delta would do to them if they said so. They could retaliate and wipe them out. I think that most groups felt the same way.""Delta is biting off more than they can chew and it seems like they also have a very big head. They have always been number two and will remain that. Or maybe we'll just wipe them out."Aurora looked at Caden. His eyes shifted occasionally and he swayed on his feet. It looked suspicious ho
Getting to the fight took longer than usual so she had to leave earlier than usual. Aurora wondered if her parents knew she was lying. A bomb had been dropped on them so they may start to suspect her behavior more. And it wasn't like they told her st stop. In all of their conversations about it, which was like two, they had never said anything about her stopping so she took that as a sign that they didn't mind it much. It was that she didn't tell them was the problem. Her parents were the rulers of illegal activity in New York, so they really had no right to act as if she was doing something bad.The night was cold and silent. She walked from her apartment to the fight and she honestly took a little time walking slower because of how peaceful. The occasional car would pass and so would people. The part of New York they were in was not t
Aurora was beyond frustrated. The girl had been following her for two blocks more and was ready to take her down, But she continued walking. She had already dealt with almost getting crushed by Mammoth and her body was exhausting. She sighed as she walked and lead the girl in a completely different direction than her apartment or house. She was just walking randomly at one point. If her plan was to follow her home and break in or so some bullshit then it would be a problem. Especially if she saw how Aurora got in. Caden already knew and it was pretty foolish that she told him. What if he would bring other people from Delta and then be able to enter her house. All the glass in the house was bulletproof but still. They could cut down the entire door or something. It started to get old pr
