Mag-log in2.
His body hair prickled as his eyes met the child she was holding out. It was the first of its kind since his reign as a King. So, he couldn't believe his eyes. "My child?". "No man has touched me except you, Your Highness" Her eyes fill up with water. King Godric was reaching his hand out to the infant to carry. "Yes, Godric, she is your child." Belena held her breath. "It's a female child?" Belena was disappointed to see that the hand waiting to carry her withdrew back to his pocket. "Please hold her, Godric" her teeth jittered. Godric walked past her to his shelf and went to take his ornate pipe where he smoked tobacco, he then took further steps back to her and puffed the smoke toward her. "Why are you here, Belena?" He asked. "Where is my male child?" "You said you didn't mind what type of child." While trying her best not to make her voice shake, it only worsened. "You said you loved me either way." "I did." He smiled. "But you left." "Because…because the Queen found out I was pregnant and I… could…not explain how that came about." "And so I ask you, why are you here, now?" "I have no place to stay, no food to eat, no clothes to wear. You promised to fulfill all my desires if I bear a child for you. You promised to protect me Godric" Belena couldn't help not recall flashbacks of her intimate moments with the king in his room, where he had confessed his undying love for her, where he had told her he didn't care if she was a maid, but he would always be there for her. Belena continued. "I do not want a position as a Queen. I only want my child to be taken care of." Godric chuckled. "Well that's easy," he said and Belena held the breath she had been holding. "But not at this time." He sat down on his well-furnished bed, puffing his smoke. "You've come at the wrong time. I am too occupied with trivial matters to bother about what you will eat or where you will stay…" "Just one word from you, Godric and it is done. You do not have to do anything. Your servants will do it" His chest heaved. "You do not understand. Not at this delicate hour. There is a war that is…" "There is war?" His eyes darted over her face as he wondered if it was right to tell her about it. "Yes. And the news of your child would only bring more chaos to the palace. We do not need that at the moment. If it were a male child, perhaps it would have been overlooked." "What war?" Her face got red. "You are making me more scared. Is my child safe? What war?" He walked toward her and held her shoulders tightly. "I'll do you a favor, Belena. I'll keep to my promise. Come back here tomorrow when the war begins and I shall protect you and your child." "Where? Where can I stay?" "You know the palace like the back of your hand. You will figure things out." "Godric…" "It's Your Highness to you" he snapped. "The chances of calling me by name are gone. The only relation we have Belena-" he moved his lips close to her ear. "It is to protect you from the gut-wrenching war that is about to happen." He laughed, almost manically. "Once that is done…you stay far away from the palace like you did before." Belena staggered when he let go of her shoulders. His eyes…they weren't like how she remembered them. And what war could he possibly be speaking about? "You'll protect me?" Her voice cracked again. "If I am back here tomorrow, would you protect me as promised?" Godric walked back to his desk where he was writing. "A promise is a debt, Belena, and I do not like to owe." She swallowed, finally feeling confident after a long time. This was good. She could tell her mother who owned the child after the war Godric spoke about. She could resume working in the palace and not be a shame to the town. "Thank…you." She cuddled her baby back to her body and tied the child tightly with the shawl. "I'll rest now" she muttered and carefully left the King's room. Belena walked back, just the way she came, but instead of going home, she headed to the storage room behind all of the palace rooms, far from the Queen's room. She entered and cleared a spot for her child, taking the basket, and fabrics she found in the room, and set a padded surface for her baby to lie on. "What do I name you?" Her words went into the air like wind as she stared at the beautiful girl she had made. After a long stare, she decided to wait until Godric named her. Belena found a cushion where she could rest her head and in no time, she was fast asleep. She woke up at the mere sound of her child's sob and fed her consistently. Even at midnight when it was as silent as a graveyard, she ensured she did all she could so the child's cry didn't wake anyone up. By now, Belena had started to get good sleep after being drained from breastfeeding without food, but the noises woke her up. The noise was distant at first but then it started getting closer. "GET EVERYONE OF THEM!" The loud growl of a man made her clutch her baby and climb a shelf so she could peep from the window to see what was happening. "The wolves?" She mumbled as her eyes caught sight of the wolf King ordering his men into the palace. "The war" she muttered again, remembering what Godric had told her earlier. "The war" she bit her nails. "DO NOT LEAVE ANYONE UNHARMED!" The voice of the wolf King came again and an arrow followed, piercing into the window where Belena was peeking from, slightly brushing past her eye. Belena quickly rushed down from where she was climbing. She needed to run. To run to Godric. He was the only one who could help her and her child now.12. Calantha ran out of her parents' room with trembling legs. "What's going on?" Her body hit her brother's torso in the hallway, then he gripped her by the arm. She let herself sink into his broad chest as her little tears began to drop. He was a year younger than her, but a lot bigger and it just made sense to her why it was so. Werewolves had an insane body build; although she was tall and slender, but still a mouse compared to her younger brother and sisters. She had lived her life as a wolf, and she had hated the humans with them too. How could … she be an enemy? "I… didn't shift" Her voice cracked as she explained. "I didn't shift into my wolf, Cumac" Cumac held her closely and rubbed her back to soothe her pain. "It isn't the end of the world" "Oh, it is." "I shall speak to father on your behalf" "No. No. No" Calantha held him back when he proceeded to go. "You don't want to upset him at this hour." She sniffed back her tears and her eyes went to her two little siste
11. Ragnar with his back turned on her, closed his eyes, hoping to hear some cracking of bones and growls, but nothing came. "Calantha" he called. "It's coming, father. Wait, please" she told him. He hoped. He believed. One glance at the full moon and he prayed to the goddess again. His daughter must… "It's taking too long, Calantha," Ragnar said, getting impatient. "I do not remember it taking so much time." "Father. I am a late bloomer, just a little longer, I feel it coming from my inside father." She responded, but truly all she felt was an uneven heartbeat and trembling hands. "Please work, please" she muttered under her breath. Calantha saw no change, none of what her siblings or boyfriend described to her as shifting. No frenzy feeling, just fear of her father turning to see that she had no wolf. She looked at the moon. "I'll give you all you want goddess, please make this happen" she whispered, her eyes dimmed with tears. "I'm turning back now," her father sai
10. EIGHTEEN YEARS LATER ___°°°___ CALANTHA THUNDER. Calantha hid in the storage room with the boy she liked - the Beta's son. They had promised to meet at twilight before her birthday. Now they were here, in the dark as she stared at his glowy eyes. "You'll be eighteen in an hour," his voice reverberated in the room, he had reached puberty stage earlier than her. He touched her shoulders. "This would mean everything to us, Calantha" She nodded and her lips spread into a smile. "When I shift to my wolf, we would announce our relationship to my father." "And get married months after," they both chuckled. "It feels surreal" she exhaled and held his hands, looking deeply into his eyes. For a long time, Ste had waited for moments like this with him. Her boyfriend moved a step closer to her and then his fingers slowly brushed her nipples. Calantha was startled, as she moved away from him. "What are you doing?" "You promised me." He said, seeming disappointed. "I onl
9. It was morning and the war had ended and several corpses were being dragged by the grave diggers and buried. Queen Daphne moved along with several guards into the forest in search of Drew since he had never come back. They spread out into the forest until one of them said. "We found him." Daphne rushed over to where they were and she saw Drew on the floor, one of his eyes plucked out as he lay unconscious. "Carry him" she ordered and the other guards hauled Drew on their backs. They went back to the palace and he was given medications immediately. Daphne then proceeded into the King's room. "We found him," she told her husband who was in the room with the little wolf boy, Razor. "Drew was hurt by those monsters," she spat. Razor eyes drifted to her and he didn't stop staring. King Godric let out his breath. "Did you find Belena...and her child?" Daphne gulped down her warm saliva. She couldn't believe Godric had the bravery to ask about his concubine's safety fr
8. Luna Philipa crawled back to the safe grove with her bloody thighs, ripped belly, and pale face. But she had ensured that the royal guard was also left in the same agony. She entered the small hut and tears ran down her cheek. "My child" her eyes turned red and her face was burning, she held onto her belly where blood was gushing out. The incident replayed in her head, her child was barely an hour old, how could... The humans! They were going to pay dearly for this! As she tried to lie down on the floor to calm her dizziness, her eyes drifted to a corner and she saw...a child. She sprang up immediately, her eyes broadening. She quickly remembered; she had told the woman to go into the safe grove and the woman had kept her child. Philipa stretched her hand toward the newborn, but flinched. "No" her lips trembled. "That's not my child." She cried. "That's not my heir" she whimpered, her teeth making a chattering noise. The newborn began to cry. "Shh. Sshh" Philipa hushed
7. Alpha Ragnar watched in terror as his wolves battled with humans. The humans were gaining a victory and the bodies of his wolves lay on the ground. The humans' plan to take the wolves down must have been perfectly orchestrated for this to happen. "Raid their town!" He heard the human guards say as they all trotted toward his wolf territory. He worried for the women and children he had left behind. Grabbing the hand of his beta, he let out a low whisper. "Go back home. Tell anyone who can survive to meet us at the borders! The war is over." The beta ran off as he had been ordered. Ragnar scampered into the palace looking for King Godric, his fist balled at the sides. Three guards stopped in front of him and he clawed them out of his way, shifting into his wolf form and fighting them with his Alpha's strength. He shifted back and walked to Godric's throne room, pushing the door with his feet. Ragnar stood still as several guards pointed arrows and swords toward him. "My
