CHAPTER 63 - What King Atticus Had Done

Clayton opened his eyes and immediately noticed that Amarah is not beside him on his bed. He raised his head up, searching for her and then saw her sitting by the bay window, looking out and a thin blanket wrapped around her body. He looked towards his clock at his bedside table, and it read five in the morning.

She seemed to be in deep thought that she didn’t hear him roll over the bed.

“Come back to bed, sweetheart,” he called huskily.

Amarah turned to him and gave him a smile.

“I didn’t want to wake you up,” she said as she stood up and walked back to the bed. Clayton automatically pulled the blanket so she can get in and when she did, he automatically pulled her down to him and removed the one covering her body. “I knew you’re going to be tired after this week-long festival.”

Clayton nuzzled her neck, caressing her back lovingly.
