Odessa POV

Ximena walked back into her room and sighed. I shoved her phone under the books where I’d found it. It was an old model phone with a scratched screen.

This was the luckiest I’d ever been.

“Odessa, I think you hurt Caelum’s feelings,” Ximena said.

I gasped. “What? He’s a warrior.”

“Warriors have feelings too.” She planted her hands on her hips.

“You know I can understand the other council members coming up with this arrangement, but not you. You know I’m fated to another.”

I pulled down my shirt and flashed my mate mark.

“I belong to Maverick Campbell!”

“Do you see him around here?” Ximena snapped.

“No, and that’s no thanks to you.”

“I did what I had to.” She turned away.

“Is anything you told me true? About Seth still being in power and Maverick wanting to keep me safe?”

I knew it was all lies. However, Seth could still be in power because his army was greater than Maverick’s support.

“I’m the Alpha, but you’re not letting me make any decisions,” I said, hands on my waist.
