ログインMaddison’s POV
I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until the car crossed into Crescent Pack territory. The air changed immediately. It felt heavier, colder and familiar in a way that made my stomach twist painfully. Damian didn’t speak as he drove. His hand stayed steady on the wheel, calm, controlled, like nothing in this world could shake him. Rowan followed behind in another car, and two more vehicles trailed further back. A convoy. A warning. I stared out of the window as the forest blurred past. Every tree, every bend, every shadow felt like memory. Like something my body recognized before my mind wanted to. This place had raised me and broken me. My fingers tightened in my lap without me noticing. “You can still wait outside,” Damian said suddenly. I shook my head fast. “No.” He glanced at me once, then returned his eyes to the road. “Once we step in, there’s no undoing it.” “I know.” But my voice didn’t sound strong. The gates appeared ahead. Two guards stood there, but the moment they saw the convoy, they stiffened. The faces showed signs of recognition, confusion and fear. We didn’t stop. The gates opened. And we drove straight through. My heart started beating faster. The pack house came into view in the distance. Lights were everywhere and there was movement all around. The entire territory felt awake like something important was already happening. Because something was. The assembly. My chest tightened painfully. Damian parked near the main hall. Before I could move, his voice stopped me. “Maddison.” I turned to him. His eyes were steady. “Stay close to me.” It wasn’t a request. I nodded slowly. My hand trembled as I opened the door and stepped out. The moment my feet touched the ground, everything changed. Not fully silent but close enough. Enough for heads to turn. Enough for whispers to spread like fire. “She’s alive…” “No way…” “That’s her…” My breath caught. I hadn’t even entered yet. Damian stepped beside me immediately. His presence cut through the tension like something sharp and final. And then we walked forward together. The hall doors opened. And everything changed. The assembly was already full. Elders, warriors, pack leaders and faces I had once known. And at the center…….. Fernando. Standing like nothing had ever shaken him. Like nothing ever could. Emma was beside him. Wearing Luna attire like it belonged on her skin. My chest tightened violently. Then I saw him. Liam. Sitting near Emma. Laughing softly and playing with her fingers like he belonged there. My world stopped completely. My body went cold. No sound reached me properly after that. No air. No thoughts. Just him. “Mommy?” The word cut through everything. Small and Confused. My head snapped up instantly. Liam was staring at me. Frozen. His face shifted slowly, like his memory was trying to find something it had lost. “Mommy…” he said again, softer this time. My heart broke so violently I almost staggered. I took one step forward without thinking. “Liam…” Emma’s hand tightened on his shoulder immediately. And just like that his expression changed. The confusion in his face was gone it was replaced with hesitation then fear. He stepped slightly behind her. My heart broke completely. “No…” I whispered. “Liam, it’s me,” I said quickly, voice shaking. “It’s Mommy.” A murmur went through the hall. Fernando finally turned his head. His eyes landed on me. He didn’t look surprised. Like I was exactly where he expected me to be. “You came back,” he said slowly. Damian stepped forward slightly beside me. Not in an aggressive way. Just present. “I didn’t come for you,” I said, though my voice shook. Fernando gave a faint smile. “That’s funny.” Emma stood slowly. “You shouldn’t have come here, Maddison.” My eyes snapped to her. Something inside me burned instantly. “Move away from my son.” Gasps spread through the hall. Emma tilted her head slightly. “Your son?” Liam flinched again. My chest cracked open. Fernando raised his hand. Silence dropped instantly. “She abandoned him,” he said calmly. My throat tightened painfully. “That’s not true.” “Isn’t it?” he asked quietly. My hands shook. “You took him from me.” “I gave him stability.” My vision blurred. Damian’s voice cut in sharply. “Enough.” Every head turned instantly. Fernando looked at him properly for the first time. Two forces clashing in one room without a single touch. “You brought outsiders into my pack house,” Fernando said slowly. Damian didn’t blink. “She’s not yours.” Silence dropped again. Heavier this time. Then— “Mommy…” Liam said again. He had stepped forward. My heart lifted instantly. Emma tightened her hold again. Fernando watched silently. Liam moved one step forward. Hope rose inside me so fast it hurt. Then stopped. Emma pulled him back gently. And he didn’t resist. That was the moment everything inside me shattered. Not loudly but quietly and completely. Tears spilled down my face before I could stop them. I wasn’t losing him. I had already lost him. Fernando stepped forward slightly. “You shouldn’t have come back, Maddison.” Damian moved closer to me instantly. And I finally understood something clearly. This wasn’t a reunion. This was the start of something far worse. And no one in that hall was walking out unchanged.Maddison’s POVI didn’t think twice i just ran.The alarm was still blaring through the penthouse, red lights flickering across the walls like something alive. My heart pounded so loudly I could barely hear my own breathing.“Liam!”My voice broke as I reached the corridor.Damian was right behind me, faster, closer—but I didn’t stop. Nothing else mattered except that door. The bedroom door.I pushed it open so hard it slammed against the wall. For a second, everything froze.Liam was still on the bed.Asleep.Unharmed.But someone was standing near the window.A woman.Emma.My body went cold instantly.“What are you doing here?” I whispered. She turned slowly, like she had all the time in the world. No panic. No fear. Just irritation.Like I was the interruption.“You really should lock your doors better,” she said calmly.Behind me, Damian stepped in. The temperature in the room shifted immediately. His presence filled the space—sharp, heavy.Emma noticed him and smiled faintly.“O
Maddison’s POVThe silence after Elias disappeared didn’t feel like peace. It felt like pressure building inside a sealed room.Damian didn’t speak much after that night. He just moved around and people moved with him.By morning, the penthouse had changed. Security at every exit. Guards I didn’t recognize stationed quietly in different corners. Even the air felt different, like the building itself was holding its breath.Liam was still asleep when I came out of the room.I didn’t want him seeing any of it—none of the tension, none of the guards, none of the way I kept checking every shadow like something might jump out again.Damian was in the living room when I saw him.He was standing near the glass wall, phone in hand, speaking low. Rowan stood beside him, expression tight.I paused before approaching.I could only catch fragments.“…no trace…”“…trained extraction…”“…inside help confirmed…”That last part made my chest tighten.Inside help. That meant someone from Crescent Pack.
Maddison’s POVMy body refused to move. The hallway felt longer than it should have, like the walls had stretched just to trap me inside it.Liam was asleep in the bedroom. Damian wasn’t in sight. And someone was standing in my home.My fingers tightened around the counter behind me, trying to ground myself.“Who’s there?” My voice came out smaller than I wanted.A slow step. Then another. The shadow shifted forward just enough for the city light to catch his face.My stomach dropped. Not because I didn’t recognize him. But because I did.“Elias…” I whispered. He didn’t smile. Didn’t look relieved. Just tired.Older than I remembered. But still the same eyes—sharp, observant. The pack tracker from Crescent Pack. One of Fernando’s most trusted men.“What are you doing here?” I asked quickly. My heart was already racing. Because if he was here… something was very wrong.Elias glanced toward the bedroom door. Then back at me.“I came to warn you.”My stomach twisted.“Warn me about what?
Maddison’s POV I couldn’t sleep that night because every time I closed my eyes, I saw the same thing. The accountant’s name. My name. And the feeling that something I didn’t understand was slowly wrapping itself around my life. Liam was asleep beside me again, but this time I couldn’t relax enough to lie down properly. I just sat there, watching him sleep trying to convince myself he was safe. Trying to convince myself I was safe too. But neither felt fully true anymore. A soft knock came at the door just after dawn. I tensed immediately. It was Damian. He always knocked like he already knew I was awake. “Come in,” I said quietly. The door opened and he stepped inside, dressed in dark clothes, his expression unreadable as always. But his eyes went straight to Liam first. Then to me. Something in his face tightened slightly. “You didn’t sleep,” he said. I gave a small shrug. “I couldn’t.” He didn’t push. That was something I was still getting used to—people not for
Maddison’s POVThe next morning felt strange because for the first time in weeks, I woke up without feeling panicked.Liam was asleep beside me, curled against my side like he used to when he was younger. One of his hand was wrapped around my shirt, as if he was afraid I would disappear again. My heart ached.I carefully, I brushed his hair away from his forehead. He looked peaceful.Safe.For a long time, all I wanted was to have him back and now that he was here, I couldn’t stop looking at him. I couldn’t stop checking to make sure he was real.A small knock came from the bedroom door.I looked up.Katie peeked inside.“Morning.”I smiled softly.“Morning.”Her eyes immediately landed on Liam.“Aww.”I laughed quietly.“Don’t wake him.”“No promises.”I rolled my eyes.Katie stepped into the room carrying a tray of food. The smell of breakfast followed her.My stomach growled immediately.I felt embarrassed.Katie smirked.“See? You’re finally eating like a normal person.”“I hate y
Damian’s POVThe hall erupted into chaos.Warriors ran toward the exits. Voices overlapped. Questions flew from every direction.“The southern warehouse?”“How bad is it?”“Was anyone inside?”For the first time that night, the investigation was no longer the center of attention. The fire was.Fernando moved immediately. His entire posture changed, and the calm mask he’d been wearing cracked just enough for me to notice.Panic.Not much. Just a flash. But it was there and I didn’t miss it.Neither did Rowan. He stepped closer to me as Fernando barked orders at his warriors.“Did you see that?” Rowan muttered.“Yeah.”His jaw tightened.“He looks scared.”I looked toward Fernando again.Scared wasn’t the word I’d use.Terrified was closer. The guard who brought the news looked shaken.“The fire spread fast, Alpha. We couldn’t stop it.”Fernando swore under his breath before storming toward the doors.Emma followed immediately.Too quickly.Like she already knew where he was going. My e
Maddison’s POVThe folder suddenly felt heavier than it looked.Every eye in the hall was fixed on it.Katie stood near the front now, her fingers wrapped tightly around the worn brown file. She looked nervous, but determined.Fernando was watching her closely.Too closely. The kind of look a preda
Maddison’s POVThe silence that followed felt endless.Every eye in the hall turned toward Mrs. Evelyn. The elderly woman stood frozen near the back wall, her hands trembling so badly that she had to grip the edge of a chair to steady herself. My heart began to pound because i knew Mrs. Evelyn. She
Maddison’s POV The hall didn’t feel the same anymore. Something had changed. I could feel it in the silence. Not the silence of fear that usually followed Fernando. This was different. This was the silence of people thinking. Questioning. Watching. For years, Fernando had controlled every r
Maddison’s POVElder Marcus was still standing. The silence in the hall felt heavier now, like the air itself was waiting for something to break.Fernando turned slowly toward him.“Elder Marcus,” he said, his voice controlled, “this is not your concern.”But the elder didn’t sit down. Didn’t back
