“I am going to the hospital.” I said, as I watched Fernando dress.
He turned around from the mirror, then glared at me. “What hospital?” He was annoyed.
“Lisa wants me to go to a fertility clinic in the human territory. She said she wants answers that she has connections there.” I explained to him, hoping he would come back to the realization of the truth.
But then he scoffed. “And why are you telling me?”
I took a deep breath trying to muster up courage for what I was about to say. “Lisa blames me, she is saying I cannot give her pups.”
“I thought you should explain to her the reason why I have not been pregnant.” I said and Fernando's eyes darkened.
“Explain what?”
“That you haven’t touched me in years.” I whispered sadly.
He raised his voice immediately. “Are you blaming me now?”
“No.” I said quickly.
I adjusted my glasses. “Fernando I am just saying Lisa thinks something is wrong with me, she is insulting me if you can just talk to-”
“So you want me to get into an argument with my mother?” He cut me short.
“That is not what I am saying.”
“Then what are you saying, Maddison!” He yelled and I flinched.
“You want me to force myself on you, Is that what you want now?”
I shook my head. “No…..I am just-”
“Do whatever you want, this is your problem, go to the hospital or don't I don’t give a dime.” Fernando said and before I could process.
He grabbed his keys, brushed past me and left slamming the door hard. Tears rolled down from my eyes heavily, I glanced down at the card that was on the bed.
As I walked inside the hospital, humans were everywhere I went to the VIP section, the doctor I met was also a werewolf and I sighed in relief, several hours passed as she ran multiple tests.
“You are in perfect health Maddison.” She said when she was done.
“Everything is normal, you are very fertile.”
Of course I was fine, it was just a waste of time. I just wished Lisa would believe me. If I came clean and told her that her son hadn't touched me since I had Liam she would definitely throw me out.
After thanking the doctor I left the hospital roaming around the streets, I was too scared to go back home. Finally I stopped in front of a bar and entered the darkest corner then drowned myself with alcohol.
But it wasn't long when I heard a deep voice from behind me. I adjusted my glasses so I could look at him properly even though my vision was already getting blurry.
He was a tall handsome man, his presence was strong and a werewolf too.
“I am Damian.” He said before taking his seat next to me.
“I am Maddison.” I murmured as my way followed his movements.
He looked at my glass. “Drink slowly.”
“I want to forget everything.” I blurted out before I could stop myself.
“That doesn’t mean you should hurt yourself in the process.” He whispered.
Damian and I drank together slowly. I could tell that he had a lot on his mind, he just listened as I spoke.
After a while, I asked. “Why are you being nice to me?”
“I don’t know, but I want to be.” He said and I nodded.
Several hours passed, I glanced at my phone and I saw that it was almost midnight. I stood up in fear, but a tripping Damian's hand caught me in time.
“I think I drank too much.”
“I know, let me take you somewhere safe.” He said.
“Why?” I whispered.
He then looked directly into my eyes. “Because I don’t want to leave you like this.”
When we entered the hotel room Damian guided me toward the bed.
“You need to rest.” He said softly.
I didn't know what came over me. I moved forward and touched his face. Damian froze because of my actions. He was surprised.
“Maddison.” He murmured.
“You are drunk.”
“I know.” I said, my voice was already shaking.
“But I don't know I feel safe with you.”
“I don’t want to take advantage of you.” Damian whispered.
“You are not.” I whispered.
“I just… I don’t want to be alone tonight.”
He then held my wrists gently, but he didn't push me away. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Damian kissed me slowly at first but then deeper, I held onto his shirt he then lifted me carefully on the bed. His hands were gentle there was no anger, his hands went all over and I felt human something that I had forgotten how it felt
He whispered my name like I mattered to him, my moans filled the entire room. He was gentle, making me feel all the pleasure that was suppressed within me.
The night ended with us tangled together, breathing softly against each other's skin.
My eyes fluttered open slowly as the reflection of the light hit my face, my head throbbed, I turned around slowly and I saw Damian beside me naked and fast asleep.
Everything went still.
“No… no, no…” I whispered, bringing a hand to cover my mouth.
I sat up quickly, I could hear the way my heart was beating and the memories of last night rushed in.
“Oh God.” I whispered.
I scrambled from the bed, my clothes were scattered across the floor, my dress, my bra and his shirt.
“I cheated…” I choked out as the tears flowed down profusely.
“Oh God, what did I do…”
My hands shook hard as I grabbed my clothes and dressed as fast as possible. I did not look in the mirror, I couldn't look at him.
When I reached the door I looked back at Damian who was still peacefully, unaware of who I was. I choked on a sob as I thought about the mess I had created. I opened the door.
And ran I just ran down the hallway and out of the hotel weeping in agony.
Maddison’s POVI didn’t think twice i just ran.The alarm was still blaring through the penthouse, red lights flickering across the walls like something alive. My heart pounded so loudly I could barely hear my own breathing.“Liam!”My voice broke as I reached the corridor.Damian was right behind me, faster, closer—but I didn’t stop. Nothing else mattered except that door. The bedroom door.I pushed it open so hard it slammed against the wall. For a second, everything froze.Liam was still on the bed.Asleep.Unharmed.But someone was standing near the window.A woman.Emma.My body went cold instantly.“What are you doing here?” I whispered. She turned slowly, like she had all the time in the world. No panic. No fear. Just irritation.Like I was the interruption.“You really should lock your doors better,” she said calmly.Behind me, Damian stepped in. The temperature in the room shifted immediately. His presence filled the space—sharp, heavy.Emma noticed him and smiled faintly.“O
Maddison’s POVThe silence after Elias disappeared didn’t feel like peace. It felt like pressure building inside a sealed room.Damian didn’t speak much after that night. He just moved around and people moved with him.By morning, the penthouse had changed. Security at every exit. Guards I didn’t recognize stationed quietly in different corners. Even the air felt different, like the building itself was holding its breath.Liam was still asleep when I came out of the room.I didn’t want him seeing any of it—none of the tension, none of the guards, none of the way I kept checking every shadow like something might jump out again.Damian was in the living room when I saw him.He was standing near the glass wall, phone in hand, speaking low. Rowan stood beside him, expression tight.I paused before approaching.I could only catch fragments.“…no trace…”“…trained extraction…”“…inside help confirmed…”That last part made my chest tighten.Inside help. That meant someone from Crescent Pack.
Maddison’s POVMy body refused to move. The hallway felt longer than it should have, like the walls had stretched just to trap me inside it.Liam was asleep in the bedroom. Damian wasn’t in sight. And someone was standing in my home.My fingers tightened around the counter behind me, trying to ground myself.“Who’s there?” My voice came out smaller than I wanted.A slow step. Then another. The shadow shifted forward just enough for the city light to catch his face.My stomach dropped. Not because I didn’t recognize him. But because I did.“Elias…” I whispered. He didn’t smile. Didn’t look relieved. Just tired.Older than I remembered. But still the same eyes—sharp, observant. The pack tracker from Crescent Pack. One of Fernando’s most trusted men.“What are you doing here?” I asked quickly. My heart was already racing. Because if he was here… something was very wrong.Elias glanced toward the bedroom door. Then back at me.“I came to warn you.”My stomach twisted.“Warn me about what?
Maddison’s POV I couldn’t sleep that night because every time I closed my eyes, I saw the same thing. The accountant’s name. My name. And the feeling that something I didn’t understand was slowly wrapping itself around my life. Liam was asleep beside me again, but this time I couldn’t relax enough to lie down properly. I just sat there, watching him sleep trying to convince myself he was safe. Trying to convince myself I was safe too. But neither felt fully true anymore. A soft knock came at the door just after dawn. I tensed immediately. It was Damian. He always knocked like he already knew I was awake. “Come in,” I said quietly. The door opened and he stepped inside, dressed in dark clothes, his expression unreadable as always. But his eyes went straight to Liam first. Then to me. Something in his face tightened slightly. “You didn’t sleep,” he said. I gave a small shrug. “I couldn’t.” He didn’t push. That was something I was still getting used to—people not for
Maddison’s POVThe next morning felt strange because for the first time in weeks, I woke up without feeling panicked.Liam was asleep beside me, curled against my side like he used to when he was younger. One of his hand was wrapped around my shirt, as if he was afraid I would disappear again. My heart ached.I carefully, I brushed his hair away from his forehead. He looked peaceful.Safe.For a long time, all I wanted was to have him back and now that he was here, I couldn’t stop looking at him. I couldn’t stop checking to make sure he was real.A small knock came from the bedroom door.I looked up.Katie peeked inside.“Morning.”I smiled softly.“Morning.”Her eyes immediately landed on Liam.“Aww.”I laughed quietly.“Don’t wake him.”“No promises.”I rolled my eyes.Katie stepped into the room carrying a tray of food. The smell of breakfast followed her.My stomach growled immediately.I felt embarrassed.Katie smirked.“See? You’re finally eating like a normal person.”“I hate y
Damian’s POVThe hall erupted into chaos.Warriors ran toward the exits. Voices overlapped. Questions flew from every direction.“The southern warehouse?”“How bad is it?”“Was anyone inside?”For the first time that night, the investigation was no longer the center of attention. The fire was.Fernando moved immediately. His entire posture changed, and the calm mask he’d been wearing cracked just enough for me to notice.Panic.Not much. Just a flash. But it was there and I didn’t miss it.Neither did Rowan. He stepped closer to me as Fernando barked orders at his warriors.“Did you see that?” Rowan muttered.“Yeah.”His jaw tightened.“He looks scared.”I looked toward Fernando again.Scared wasn’t the word I’d use.Terrified was closer. The guard who brought the news looked shaken.“The fire spread fast, Alpha. We couldn’t stop it.”Fernando swore under his breath before storming toward the doors.Emma followed immediately.Too quickly.Like she already knew where he was going. My e
Maddison’s POVThe folder suddenly felt heavier than it looked.Every eye in the hall was fixed on it.Katie stood near the front now, her fingers wrapped tightly around the worn brown file. She looked nervous, but determined.Fernando was watching her closely.Too closely. The kind of look a preda
Maddison’s POV The hall didn’t feel the same anymore. Something had changed. I could feel it in the silence. Not the silence of fear that usually followed Fernando. This was different. This was the silence of people thinking. Questioning. Watching. For years, Fernando had controlled every r
Maddison’s POVElder Marcus was still standing. The silence in the hall felt heavier now, like the air itself was waiting for something to break.Fernando turned slowly toward him.“Elder Marcus,” he said, his voice controlled, “this is not your concern.”But the elder didn’t sit down. Didn’t back
Maddison’s POVI could not stop staring at Liam.Nothing else mattered anymore. Not the whispers spreading through the hall, not the tension building between Damian and Fernando, not even the dozens of eyes watching every move I made. Only Liam.My son stood beside Emma now, his little fingers grip
