CHAPTER 32: MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

“Hehe, I am very touched to hear that but you know … I have never blamed you. It was my fault,” she said with a trembling voice as her voice lowered, sounding aggrieved.

Hilary clenched his other fist as he recalled what happened to Veda in the years she wasn’t by his side and his heart softened.

“It’s never your fault. I promised you when I found you that I will make those people pay. I will make you the most powerful Luna, the world has ever seen. Believe in me, when I say that,” he said to her in a serious tone, reminding her of the promise he made.

Veda tearfully looked at him and nodded as she chocked, “I have never forgotten. Sometimes I am just afraid that I will disappoint you, and I hate myself for thinking like that.”

Hilary patted her hand in comfort, thinking about the several absurd things Veda had done. He felt a pang in his heart when he thought about Elowyn and her death but recalling the dream he had, he took a deep breath and started looking at the matter putting himself in Veda’s shoes.

He felt that he was the one in the wrong in this matter. If only he had searched for her in earnest and never gave up. He could have found her earlier and rescued her from the den of wolves but he got distracted after being saved by Elowyn.

It was Elowyn who enchanted him like a vixen with her charm, and made him forget to search for Veda.

Ever since he brought Elowyn to the pack, he stopped searching for Veda. Under Elowyn’s spell, he nearly forgot about Veda until that fateful day news reached him, and he left the pack to find her before bringing her back.

When he thought about the state, he found her in, his heart aches badly and he vowed to make it up to her in this life no matter what.

He had always felt guilty. That’s why when she commanded that no news about her and him reaches Elowyn, he abided and sent the warning. That’s why, Elowyn, like a fool prepared for the wedding without knowing a single thing until she was humiliated in front of the crowd.

His heart ached slightly seeing her hurt and crying but when he thought about Veda, he steeled his heart and ruthlessly ended everything.

If Elowyn was truly his other mate, he should have felt it when he saw her but it seems that their bond shouldn’t have been that strong. Why feel it when she was falling and several months later?

If they were mates, then wasn’t she supposed to be drawn back to him?

If she could survive his stabbing, and live without finding him, wasn’t that being selfish as his other mate?

Even when Veda was in the hands of those bastards, she had never forgotten to try to send messages to him but what did Elowyn did?

It was only right that he completely erases any feelings remaining for Elowyn. He couldn’t let such a vixen, very selfish to the core and didn’t put the pack’s needs to heart in his heart. Because of her, he nearly succumbed to insanity.

She was dangerous and just like what that old lady said in his dream, he should completely give up on Elowyn. She was dead anyway, so why be bothered with the dead when he could focus on the living?

So, what if she was carrying his children?

He slain them with his own hands. He might as well focus on the children that Veda was carrying. It would have been embarrassing if Elowyn gave birth to wolfless cubs for him. Where would he put his face, if that had happened.

If Elowyn could hear all this, she would have given the man a loud applause and scolded them for Hilary and Veda for being a couple match made in heaven.

How could both of them be so ….. selfish, unbelievable and have loose screws in their minds?

Who put the blame on others and white wash themselves so clean like that as if they were blameless?

Unfortunately, she would never know. At least for now.

The couple felt very connected to each other that very moment. The bond that had been shaking was starting to mend. Even Veda felt very shaken and tempted. Her wolf didn’t dare utter a single thing.

While the couple cement their relationship, at the pack, the elders sat in the hall looking quite solemn as they waited for the Alpha and Luna to arrive.

“Is the news correct?”

“Um, heard it from one of my connections. The emergence of these dark witches has sent several rogue packs to flee. If they continue to massacre the way they are doing, a war might break out.”

“But, wont the royal family intervene?”

“Hah, intervene. It hasn’t reached a scale that could make the royal family interfere. It’s a matter that needs us to deal with it ourselves.”

“Do we have the resources?”

“Perhaps reaching out to those covens. How many covens do we have near us?”

“What’s the point of knowing them? Have you forgotten that our pack hasn’t interacted with any witch in over a decade?”

“Alas, at this moment, I wish if that person’s family was here!”

When that was said, all eyes turned to look at the female leader with wrinkles on her face wondering which tiger’s gall bladder she had eaten to bring up such a matter but the old lady didn’t seem to care about the stares.

The man sitting next to her, held her hand as he echoed with her. “You all have seen what has been going on around lately. You aren’t fools!”

When the male elder said that, all the elders were silenced, lost in thoughts.

That family had been a great taboo in the pack and no one spoke a single word about them and yet after listening to the married elders, the other elders couldn’t help but be thoughtful.

Has it really reached the stage of that?

While lost in thoughts, one of the guards outside, announced, “they are here!” and all elders set that thought aside for now.
