“A flower smells the sweetest, the day it blossoms, Lucifer.” A deep voice rasped, that dripped with malicious amusement.
“What do you mean master?” The wolf called Lucifer, spoke in a sepulchral manner.
“The right time, Lucifer, the right moment to strike, where victory is guaranteed.” The master grinned, eyes hooked on the two distracted pups, who were too engrossed in each other to care about the danger lurking around.
“Let’s retreat for now, before the night patrol catches our scent.” The two giant wolves concluded their exchange and disappeared, deep into the woods.
As the days passed by, Adrian and Eliot met each other every month, on the day of the full moon, reuniting in the same field each time and they talked and played to their hearts content, until the near break of dawn forced them apart.
In all this time they spent together, the Alpha realized how different his friend was from other Omegas.
Elio would catch his scent from miles away and he was not even at his transforming age, he would competitively race with the Alpha, even climb trees, doing all activities an Omega as young as him wouldn’t even think about.
Adrian loved and appreciated everything about his friend, but he also came to the realization that not everyone accepted it, when one day he found the Omega waiting for him in the field, but with heavy tears, dropping like glistening pearls, off of his ivory cheeks in the moonlit night.
“Elio!?” The Alpha ran closer to the Omega, who was sitting on the rock and put his arms around him, desperate to make the cause of his sadness vanish.
Elio clutched the soft cotton material of Adrian’s shirt and sobbed lightly, hiding his face in the Alpha’s neck.
Adrian held the Omega protectively, rubbing comforting circles on his small shoulders, as he waited patiently for his friend to calm down.
When Adrian felt the Omega’s sobs die down, he hooked his finger under Elio’s chin and gently raised his face, looking into those big maroon eyes he had grown fond of.
The Alpha cupped Elio’s face and wiped his tears with the pad of his thumbs, as he pulled the smaller boy even closer to himself, while the Omega snuggled in his warmth.
“What’s wrong Elio?” Adrian finally asked, stroking the Omega’s soft cheeks.
“Do you think I am a freak too, Addy?” Elio asked, his voice laced with insecurity, making the Alpha frown in response.
“No, never and who ever told you that, is wrong.” Adrian replied without hesitation and engulfed Elio in his arms again, the Alpha felt anger cross his mind at the thought of whoever said such rude words to the gentle little Omega.
“You are a little different from everyone else, but you are still my best friend.” Adrian assured with a smile, which made the Omega feel at ease.
“Thank you, Addy.” Elio mumbled in content; ever since he was belittled by his older cousin and some of his friends the same afternoon, he had wanted nothing but to meet Adrian and tell him how the others didn’t treat him like the Alpha did.
“Always welcome.” Adrian whispered in response and nuzzled his nose on the Omega’s apple cheeks, making him giggle.
They were still young pups and what Elio faced today, was just the starting of the criticism he would have to deal with later on, he still had to be prepared for what was to come and that responsibility stood on the shoulders of the Alpha and Luna of the Calyx.
When Elio’s eighth birthday came by, the Omega was not happy, because Adrian was going to leave for training the very next day.
When the eleven-year-old Alpha from the Nova pack arrived, Elio hugged him and cried for hours, leaving his parents and Alpha Fenrys utterly confused at their sudden closeness.
Jayden Fenrys had never seen his son care about someone so much, he was seeing a completely new side of Adrian, who was talking and laughing so comfortably around a certain Omega.
Diana and Stephan were in for a pleasant surprise too, seeing how well Adrian and Elio treated each other, despite being of such contrasting personalities.
The day Adrian Fenrys left, it seemed as if he took Elio’s bubbly and sensitive nature with him too.
The Omega became more stronger and self-dependent day by day.
Stephan had already undertaken the responsibility of his son’s basic training and knowledge, and Elio meticulously grasped everything his father taught, from righteous values to the volatile morals.
He was beginning to understand his uniqueness, where all his other friends in the pack had an aimless, monotonous life, Elio had a purpose and he began to encompass himself with the consequential reality.
Elio didn’t cry when he was teased anymore, he learned to accept his strength, starting with the memorable day the Omega transformed into his wolf.
That hot summer day made everyone scamper away, towards the cool shade of the surrounding Oak trees.
The grass was dehydrated and rusty under the Omega’s bare feet, as he stood under the scorching sun in the middle of the training field, muscles and mind tense in concentration, trying to link himself to the part beast in his inner soul and give in to his werewolf instincts.
The field was crowded with spectators, as everyone held their breaths to witness the transformation of the most belligerent wolf.
Stephan stood in front of his son, lending him mental strength and assurance like he did always, as well as Diana, a step behind, her mere presence being a solid support to her son.
Diana skipped several heartbeats, when the sound of bone joints ringed through the silent field, while everyone watched with rapt attention.
Elio’s petite body grew in height, hands and feet changed into paws, as the Omega transformed into a glowing, snow-white wolf.
He was almost the size of a young Alpha and everyone let out gasps of amazement and wonder, at the stupefying sight.
Elio’s parents felt indescribable pride, but they felt absolutely short of words when their son raised his eyes to look at them.
The crowd felt their knees go weak, when they met with blood-red eyes of the silver wolf.
History was being written then and there, the Calyx pack witnessed the unnatural sighting of the first eye-color changing wolf, with the rank that was considered to be the lowest.
Amidst a frenzy of staggered breaths and wildly beating hearts; stood a Red-Eyed Omega, fierce and defiant in all its glory.
The Calyx pack members swore to keep Elio’s transformation a secret, when requested by their pack Alpha. Stephan made sure to keep the vulnerable identity of his Omega son, eclipsed from the rest of the werewolf community for the time being, in accordance to the plan that he had discussed with his friend. The Alpha did not want to compromise in any form when it came to his family’s safety, he had one son and he was ready to raise hell in his defense, if the need would arise. Elio was still young and the journey of facing the world had just commenced, he was still learning about his own self, exploring the extent of the unmatched power he was blessed with. The Omega’s strength was equal to that of a full-grown Alpha at the tender age of twelve and there were mixed reactions from the people of the pack. The number of friends Elio had, decreased day by day, the cause being his own elder cousin, trying to convince everyone how hostile and tainted he was. “Even the Omegas don’t want y
“Alpha Ryan, alert the frontier wolves, I’m sure it’s the night patrol and the border guards who are engaged at present.” Diana promptly analyzed the situation, stepping into the responsibility of leadership in the absence of the pack Alpha. “That’s right Luna, the alert has already been issued.” Alpha Ryan replied, he too had immediately taken the required action, as soon as the news of the attack reached him. “That is good, dispatch a warning to the pack members, none of the Omegas, children and juvenile Alphas uncapable of combat should step out of the homes, tell them to secure their houses.” Diana instructed as she locked her own house securely, with her sleeping son inside. “I have done that as well; five Beta wolves are already running the perimeter around pack borders, to assess the numbers of the enemy.” Alpha Ryan informed, as he accompanied the Luna towards the main packhouse. “You are extremely reliable, Alpha Ryan, if not for you and with Stephan missing, we would have
The three wolves turned in unison to face the glowing scarlet eyes, as a medium sized wolf emerged from the middle of the Oak trees, its silver fur standing out in the dark. “Didn’t you hear me?” the voice of the young wolf bellowed in their minds again, “I said step away from my mother, you filthy creatures!” The Omega shrieked at the wolves encircling Diana. “This has to be some kind of joke, an Omega pup is here to save the day, quick, act scared.” The Alpha holding a grip on Diana spoke up, “I guess it’s my luck-” The wolf didn’t get to complete, when suddenly, the white wolf lunged forward with blinding speed and lodged its jaws into the Alpha’s free forelimb, earning an anguished growl. Before the Alpha had time to react, Elio jerked his head with full force to the side, making the Alpha wolf tumble a few feet away, freeing his mother from the painful grip, as he rushed towards her. Elio nudged the blood-soaked snout of his mother’s golden-brown wolf, lying weakly on the grou
“Maa, open your eyes, talk to me please, don’t leave me, NO!” Elio screamed awake, panting and sweating, feeling as if someone was pounding on his head with rocks, “Ughh,” the Omega groaned, clutching his head. “Elio, are you okay, does it hurt anywhere!?” A familiar worried voice asked, the Omega rubbed his blurry eyes and blinked to see his friend Alwyn sitting on the corner of his bed, concern etched on his face. “Alwyn?” Elio asked in a daze, as he slowly looked around and realized he was in his own cozy bedroom, but then again, the events of the moonless night hit him like a boulder, his heart rate became rapid at the recollection of his mother’s state. “Maa!” Elio gasped, “Alwyn, where is my mother!?” The Omega asked, his body jolting in worry, he was so stupid, how could he have collapsed like that when his mother was bleeding so much, she was alive right? Alpha Ryan had come, he had saved her right? Elio’s thoughts were in absolute splits, he wasn’t even able to hear what A
“How dare that low class, wretched male Omega speak to me in that manner.” Alpha Darius grumbled while stomping through the main gate of the Packhouse of the Calyx. He was fuming in anger at the insulting behavior of the pack Alpha and his lowborn son, they had the audacity to tell him, who was an extremely respected member of the Council, to leave in such a rude manner, it was absolutely humiliating. Darius was walking across the field towards the guest lodge, simmering in his thoughts, when he felt someone following him. The Alpha turned abruptly to face a young black haired Alpha boy, who flinched when Darius had turned all of a sudden. The older Alpha’s enraged expression transitioned into an irritated one, as he raised his eyebrows questionably towards the timid looking, lanky Alpha boy. “I wanted to tell you something, mister Darius, my name is Ashton Marrok, the one who is going to be next pack Alpha.” Ashton spoke, trying not to show how scared he was, but his confidence c
Several thick layers of snow covered everything in sight, from the bare branches of the humongous Pines, to the jagged rocky lands and hill slopes, the solitary flowing river nearby too, was encased in frosty glass. The freezing cold vast stretches of the oddly aligned peaks, that were collectively called the Snowy Mountains, truly lived up to its name, providing a perfect set of conditions to ensure, that a werewolf either gets trained to its best abilities or dies of frostbite, and fortunately all the Alphas that were receiving the training currently, did not experience the latter. The special training camp for Alphas at the Snowy Mountains housed candidates from all places far and wide, almost all of them being absolute strangers to each other, but as the years passed by, most of the Alphas had formed a great bond together and despite being of a reserved nature, Adrian had befriended some amazing Alphas too. “Finally, we’re back, no matter how many times I do this, I’ll never rea
A week later of the chaos surrounding the attack and the Council investigation, Elio stood with a letter in hand, which was addressed to him and had come directly from the Central. The letter informed that the son of the pack Alpha of the Cypress, Alpha Enrique Czar, was duly going to arrive in two days’ time, with his personal sentinel, to investigate what had ‘actually’ happened during the staged rogue attack, since he was dissatisfied with the Council report. Maia and Alwyn had already told Elio about everything regarding the conversation between Ashton and Alpha Darius and he didn’t really understand as to why his older cousin hated him to the point of being disloyal to his own pack, he knew he was a male Omega and it was rare that people deemed his rank as likeable or even respectable, but he never did anything wrong to Ashton, in fact it was always the Alpha who belittled him every now and then. However, this time, Ashton Marrok had surpassed the limits of the Omega’s patience
“Happy Birthday Elio!” everyone shouted together, the moment the Omega entered the doorway of his house, just as the joyous chatter of the small crowd, overlapped with the ringing chime of the clock that struck twelve. The hall was decorated brightly with Elio’s favorite pastel colors and sparkly balloons, and only all the closest people to the Omega were invited to their little, surprise party. Elio had a big beautiful smile on his face that matched with his friends and his parents, as the Omega looked at the decoration as well as the decorators, with his maroon eyes glittering in adoration. Maia and Alwyn grabbed each of the Omega’s hands and pulled him towards the center, where his parents stood with a delicious strawberry shortcake. “Thank you so much everyone!” Elio squealed in joy, while he received synchronized kisses on both his cheeks by the Alpha and Luna of the Calyx, and the Omega wiggled his eyebrows teasingly, looking at his father, who threatened to smear icing on hi
