Donna’s POV

I could feel the taste of blood in my mouth, the pain in my ribs giving me a dull sting throb. My vision was blurred because blood was everywhere.

Selene's heels made sure that it carved bruises all over my body, my surgery marks were already opened and she didn't stop until she knew I had passed out.

I woke up to sense another presence in the room, the air heightened with tension as wolves bowed their heads.

“Lucien” Selene purred, her voice laced with sweetness.

My husband was here. For the first time I felt hope flared inside me, igniting all feelings. He would see me, he would save him. He is here.

I held my gaze up to him, locking his brown eyes with mine. They weren't filled with love or pity as I had anticipated.

“Donna” his voice rumbling with anger. “What have you done?” his face twisted in shock.

“Why? I can't believe that you did this"

Before I could answer, his hand shot out, claws grazing my throat as he wrapped his fingers around my neck. My body lifted off the floor with effortless strength, dangling me like a ragdoll.

The pressure pressed on my neck crushed the air out of me as I kicked my legs helplessly, trying to break free from his grip as I struggled to breathe.

“L– Lucien” I gasped, my finger scratching his hand trying to break free. “I…i…you…you’re choking me”

His grip tightened, I could feel my lungs wanting air. My hands fell to my side as I lost all strength to fight back.

I felt my eyes involuntarily closing, and at that moment, I thought I was dying as my body started becoming numb.

He released me and my almost numb body fell to the floor as I desperately gasped for air.

His expression was cold and his eyes– turning red, burning with rage. “You dared touch my doctor? My healer? You killed one of mine after he saved your life?”

Trying to get air into my lungs as I struggled to breathe, I managed to say “I….didn’t….kill him." I cough out, my bile rising up.

" Liar” he yelled. His body, trembling with anger.

“No—" I tried to explain what happened with the doctor.

Fresh tears welled in my eyes, I couldn't breathe as my chest ached. “No! No, he didn't die. He was alive! I– only” I took a deep breath. “It was his eyes, I lunged at one of them. The nurses witnessed everything and saw that he was alive.” I said.

Crawling towards him, I said “Lucien, our child was alive when I was brought to the hospital"

He laughed hysterically, picking me up again and shaking me like a child's toy, the vein in his forehead bulging.

“I always trusted you to do the right thing, Donna, but what you have done, has shown that you are not the woman I thought you were” his swelled chest, rising and falling. I could sense the disappointment in his voice.

“I didn't–” I shouted, hoping he would hear me now, but the only response I got was being thrown at the wall again, and I could feel my wolf whimpering in pain as well.

My vision blacked out for a second, as I felt my skin tearing from my body. The betrayal I felt at that moment upon realizing my mate had turned his back on me was unbearable.

“Lucien–” I whispered slowly as the pain began spreading inside of me.

“How can the moon goddess make you my mate?” He asked with a mix of disgust and anger. His eyes and expression went dark, the air was filled with his raging emotions as he looked at me laying on the floor.

“The fuck have I been doing with you?” he said through gritted teeth. I saw blood dripping from his hand as his fist hit the wall with so much force . “Why?” He shouted what felt like a roar.

“Lucien, our child. He told me he was dead and I snapped.” Trying to get him to understand my anger at the doctor.

“I didn't kill him, the nurses sedated me. You have to believe me” I pleaded with desperation and hope that he may still feel something for me. But I was only trying to feel less alone in this misery.

“You–” his hand landed on my face hard. The slap exploded my skull, blood splashed from my mouth as my head hit against the wall. A loud whimper tore from me as fresh tears stung my eyes from the pain.

I collapsed. My body crumpled on the bloody floor, coughing and clutching my throat. The pain at my jaw was unbearable as my body curled itself, small and beneath the shadow of the man I thought was my mate.

“Lucien” I whispered through sobs, lifting my trembling fingers toward him. “I swear….it wasn't me” I coughed trying to catch my breath.

“He killed our child. My womb too and–” my voice cracked as I lifted my head pointing a shaking hand at Selene. “She ordered it. She said it herself”

Selene gasped in shock, rushing forward and holding Lucien's arm like it was her life line. Fake tears poured out from her eyes as her body trembled as if my words were blade.

“Lucien, don't listen to her” she cried, burying her face in his chest. “She is lying. She wants to drag me into her mess” she said pitifully.

“I loved your child as if it were my own. I heard of his death and rushed here to console her” she paused and looked at me mockingly.

In a very low and sympathetic tone, she continued “You know how excited I was for you both when she got pregnant, how could she accuse me of harming your flesh & blood?” She said while faking a sob.

Her hand slid to grip his wrist, as she forced more fake tears out, her eyes flicked to mine with a victorious smile only I could see.

Then she continued “Ask the others. We came here seeing Donna harassing the nurses while the doctor was laying there lifeless.” Selene’s lies were infuriating.

I felt a rush of anger at her lies but I could not move as every bone in my body felt broken. My mate, boiling with anger as he digested her lies.

“She was ragging mad and I tried to calm her down but she gutted me, I barely escaped her grip.” She held her neck and sobbed onto Lucien’s shoulder.

“She resisted and jerked violently at anyone who came close to her so we managed to sedate her.” Selene paused and took out the empty syringe to show him.

“I became angry when one of the nurses told me that she killed the doctor and I hit her a little” she said, her tears already wetting his shirt.

His gaze on her softened as he patted her head, pulling her closer for a while.

“No…..no!” I screamed hoarsely, my voice not audible. “Don't believe her! Lucien. She confessed to killing our babies because she believes I stole you from her” my voice broke into hiccuping sobs, my tears running like a river.

“She is jealous that you are giving me your attention, Lucien. You know how much I care about you, I would never hurt, one of your own” she said softly, brushing her lips in his chest, romantically to make me feel jealous.

He didn't even look at me, his gaze was with her. He pulled Selene closer, his arms around her like she was the fragile one who needed comfort. Jealousy curled in my stomach, twisting it as his jaw clenched, comforting her.

“You shamed me, Donna,” Lucien said. “I gave you my name, my home, my trust and you repay me with lies, death and more lies.”

I shook my head slowly as every movement brought pain, my cries echoing. “No,” I said, my voice hoarse.

“She's lying with my name” Selene said, clinging tighter

to him, her lips brushing his ear as she whispered just loud enough for me to hear. “Pathetic loser”

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 15

Donna’s POV I woke to the sound of rain.Soft, steady, and distant, the kind that makes the world feel far away. The canopy above me glowed faintly with the last traces of moonlight, and for a moment, I wasn’t sure if I was still dreaming. Then I felt it.The bond.It hummed through me like a heartbeat that wasn’t mine, slow and steady, pulling at something deep inside my chest. The air around me was heavy with it, yet warm, electric, alive. I sat up carefully, brushing the damp hair from my forehead. My body still ached from the fall, but the pain was duller now, replaced by a strange calm I couldn’t explain. The room was quiet, except for the crackling fire and the rhythmic patter of rain. Clara had fallen asleep curled up near the foot of the bed, her head resting on a small stool. She must’ve stayed there all night.I smiled faintly. “You’ll catch a cold,” I whispered, though she couldn’t hear me.As I adjusted the blanket over her, the warmth shifted again, not from the fire, b

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 14

Dane’s POV The council room smelled of parchment and smoke. I’d been sitting there for almost an hour, trying to listen to Beta Kael’s report, but every time his voice droned through the room, my mind drifted somewhere else, up the stairs, through the hall, and straight into the room where she lay.Donna.Even now, her presence lingered at the back of my mind, faint but impossible to ignore. The mate bond pulsed like a distant heartbeat, a soft tug beneath my skin that kept me tethered to her even when I didn’t want to be.“Alpha,” Kael said again, his tone sharpening, pulling me back. “You’re not listening.”I blinked, straightening in my chair. “Repeat that.”He exhaled, a mixture of patience and irritation. “I said the patrols found no trace of the rogues near the southern border. But they did find something unusual, a mark on one of the trees. It’s old, but it resembles the crest of the Blackmoon Pack.”My brows furrowed. “That can’t be right. The Blackmoon Pack was destroyed ye

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 13

Donna’s POVThe first thing I felt was warmth.Soft, steady, and gentle like sunlight through closed curtains. The second was pain, dull but constant, spreading across my temples and down my spine. My eyelids fluttered open slowly, the world swinging in and out of focus until the ceiling above me took shape.White carvings. The same canopy. The same bed.I was back in my room.My head throbbed when I tried to sit up, so I stayed still, listening instead. Somewhere close, two voices whispered, low and urgent.“She shouldn’t have collapsed like that,” one said. Leona’s voice, calm but threaded with worry. “Her fever came too fast.”“I know, my lady,” Clara answered softly. “She said she wasn’t hungry, but I tried to make her eat. She did, just not enough.”There was a pause, and I could almost hear Leona sigh. “It isn’t your fault, child. She’s been through more than we understand. Her body is only now remembering what rest feels like.”A rustle of fabric, the sound of a chair being p

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 12

Dane’s POV“Lucien.”The name echoed in my head long after her voice went silent. It wasn’t mine. And yet hearing it come from her lips as she fell unconscious in my arms carved something dark and cold through my chest.Who the hell was Lucien?Jealousy hit before reason could catch up…sharp, fast, and ugly. My wolf bristled inside me, snarling at the thought of another name on her tongue, another bond in her heart. But she was limp in my arms, pale and fevered, and the anger died as quickly as it came.I couldn’t afford jealousy now. Not when she looked so fragile that even the night air seemed too heavy for her.“Hold on,” I muttered under my breath, tightening my grip as I strode toward the manor. “Just hold on.”Through the mind link, I reached out to the healers, all of them. “To my chamber. Now.”And then, “Mother, bring Clara. Donna fainted.”The responses were instant, a ripple of voices acknowledging the command. By the time I reached her room, the corridor was already alive

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 11

Donna’s POVSleep wouldn’t come.No matter how many times I turned, how tightly I wrapped myself in the blanket, my mind refused to quiet down. His scent still lingered in the room, faintly earthy, laced with something warm like smoke and pine. It unsettled me more than I wanted to admit. When he’d left, I thought I’d finally be able to breathe. But the silence he left behind felt heavier than his presence.I pushed off the bed, rubbing my arms to fight the chill. The moonlight slipped through the curtains, casting pale stripes across the floor. Somewhere in the hallway, I could still hear faint footsteps, his maybe. Before I could think too much about it, I moved. The door creaked softly as I opened it, and a cool breeze rushed in from the corridor. My heart thudded. I didn’t even know why I was following him, only that I couldn’t stay there, surrounded by ghosts and questions.By the time I caught sight of him, he was at the end of the corridor, heading toward a set of stairs tha

  • The Rejected Luna's Redemption   Chapter 10

Dane’s POVThe moment I stepped through the door, the air changed.Warm. Scented faintly of herbs and honey and something else. Something alive. My wolf stirred immediately, recognizing what my mind still refused to name.Donna.She was sitting near the window, wrapped in soft linen and fading light, her hair damp from a bath. The golden sunset spilled over her skin, making her look unreal and too fragile for the world I ruled, too human for the kind of bond we shared. But what truly caught me off guard wasn’t her.It was Clara. The little maid was standing beside her, smiling while arranging the tray on the table. The sight nearly made me stop in the doorway. Clara had never smiled at anyone but my mother. She didn’t trust easily; she barely spoke to the guards, and she avoided most of the household like shadows avoided fire. And yet, here she was. Laughing softly, whispering something that made Donna’s lips curve in a faint smile. My brow furrowed. “I see you’re making friends qui
