“What… what did you say?” I managed to choke out, my throat tight. My mind rebelled, refusing to process the sound, the meaning. This couldn’t be real. This was the pinnacle of my dream, the moment I had yearned for, despite every doubt, every cruel word.

He turned his head slowly, his gaze finally settling on me, devoid of warmth.

“I said,” he repeated, his voice cold, methodical, “I cannot accept you as my Luna.”

My vision blurred, the faces in the crowd swirling into indistinct blurs. The quiet murmurs started then, a low, buzzing sound like a swarm of angry bees. It grew, from a ripple to a wave, washing over me, each whisper a stinging barb.

“She’s too… fat to be Luna,” someone hissed, the word cutting through the buzzing like a knife.

“Look at her! A Luna should be graceful, not… that.”

“The Alpha King’s mate? She’d shame the pack!”

Laughter. Not subtle, polite laughter, but sharp, derisive snorts that echoed through the square. My cheeks burned, a fire spreading beneath my skin, scalding me from the inside out. Humiliation, a familiar, unwelcome friend, seeped into every pore, chilling me even as I burned. The happiness, the intoxicating sense of belonging I had clung to just moments before, dissolved into ash.

I stared at Nathan, desperate for it to be a misunderstanding, a cruel joke. His jaw was set, his expression unyielding. He wouldn’t look me in the eye. My gaze searched his face, begging for a flicker of recognition, a sign that this was a mistake, a terrible, elaborate prank he would soon undo. But there was nothing. Only cold refusal.

“Nathan, no…” My voice was a fragile thread, barely holding together. “Please. Tell me this isn’t real.”

He finally met my gaze, and I saw a flicker of something in his eyes—not regret, but annoyance. Impatience.

“Elara,” he said, his voice flat, “look around you. Do you honestly believe you are suitable to stand beside me as Luna? To represent this pack? The Alpha King needs a mate who inspires strength, who embodies beauty, who commands respect.” He paused, and his eyes swept over me as if seeing me for the first time, or perhaps for the last time. “Not someone… who will be a constant reminder of… imperfection.”

The air left me in a rush, a gasp, a sob caught in my throat. Imperfection. The word echoed Isabella's, Mother’s, everyone’s. The same insecurity I had fought for years, the constant struggle against their cruel words, now became the reason for my public rejection. In front of the entire pack. By the man I loved, the mate I had hoped would see beyond the surface, beyond their judgments.

My legs felt like water; I swayed again, clutching at the fabric of my dress, as if it could anchor me to this cruel reality. The whispers intensified, the laughter growing bolder. Each cruel word chipped away at what little remained of my spirit. I was a puppet, and my strings had just been cut.

Before I could recover, before I could even formulate a single coherent thought, a rustle of movement drew my eyes. A hush fell, even amongst the mocking crowd.

Isabella.

She moved with an almost ethereal grace, her own dress, a shimmering blue, catching the sunlight. Her eyes, usually filled with disdain for me, now shone with a triumphant, predatory gleam. She walked slowly, deliberately, straight for Nathan.

My breath caught. No. This couldn’t be happening.

Nathan watched her approach, a faint smile playing on his lips, a smile I had never seen directed at me. My heart gave a painful lurch. He held out his hand.

Isabella reached for it, her fingers intertwining with his as if they were always meant to be there. A collective gasp rippled through the pack, followed by a surge of excited whispers.

Then Nathan, his voice booming with a confidence that had been absent when he spoke to me, announced, “This is my true mate. Isabella Morgan. She is the Luna of Goldstone.”

My world imploded.

A gold crown with gems engraved with the royal crest, hung from Nathan’s other hand. It was the token meant for me, the symbol of my new life, my new purpose. He lifted it now, not toward me, but toward Isabella. Gently, reverently, he placed it on her head.

A roar erupted from the crowd. Cheers, applause, shouts of jubilation.

“Long live Luna Isabella!” they cried, their voices ringing with genuine joy. My mother, my father, even some of the relatives who had sneered at Isabella just days ago, now cheered loudest of all.

I stood there, abandoned, discarded, a withered flower in a field of vibrant blossoms. Isabella smiled, a radiant, triumphant smile, her eyes meeting mine for a fleeting second, brimming with malicious satisfaction.

He didn’t even glance back at me. He just held Isabella’s hand, his head high, basking in the adoration of the pack, the cheers for his Luna. The one person I had believed would never be the architect of my pain, the one whose quiet kindness had given me hope, had just shattered every dream I had ever dared to dream.

The cheers, the laughter, the triumphant glow on Isabella’s face. It all blurred into an overwhelming cacophony of sound and light, a grotesque carnival of my own destruction. I was nothing. Worthless.

Elias’s povThe common room of the inn was thick with the smell of roasted meat, stale ale, and the overwhelming, intoxicating scent of Elara. I leaned against the dark wood of the bar, my fingers white-knuckled around a tankard I hadn’t touched in twenty minutes. I couldn't take my eyes off her.She was across the room, huddled over a scarred oak table with a group of local traders and a few travelers. Her laughter rang out—a bright, clear sound that sliced through the low rumble of masculine voices.*She’s winning,* I thought, a predatory pride swelling in my chest. *Look at her.*"You’re going to burn a hole in her back if you keep staring like that, Elias," the innkeeper remarked, wiping a rag across the counter near my elbow."She’s fine where she is," I gritted out, though every instinct in my Alpha blood was screaming at me to walk over there, sling her over my shoulder, and claim her in front of everyone."She’s got a hell of a poker face," the man chuckled. "She just took tha

  • The Rejected Plus-Size Mate   An Oath

Nathan’s povI stared at the amber liquid in the bottom of my glass, the scent of expensive grain alcohol doing nothing to dull the sharp, jagged edge of my nerves. Every second they were away was a second I spent imagining them together—Elara and Elias, hidden away in some dark corner of the world. My fingers tightened around the crystal until I thought it might shatter."Another," I muttered, sliding the glass across the oak table toward the shadow standing by the door."Sire, perhaps you should rest," the guard, Kael, ventured softly."I didn't ask for a physician’s advice, I asked for a drink," I snapped, my voice sounding like gravel. "Where are they? Why hasn't the scout returned? If they’ve crossed the border, I want to know."I was spiraling, and I knew it. The paranoia was a living thing, a wolf pacing the cage of my ribs. I wanted to waste away, to let the drink consume the parts of me that still felt her absence like a missing limb. The door creaked open, and a mud-spattere

  • The Rejected Plus-Size Mate   Stage her death

Isabella’s POVThe silence in the manor was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard. For months, Elara’s presence had been a lingering rot, a shadow that stretched over my marriage and my home. But now, she was gone. Truly gone. I stood at the top of the grand staircase, my hand resting protectively over my still-flat stomach, and let a smile spread across my face."She’s gone, Martha," I said, my voice airy and light as my maid passed me with a stack of linens."Yes, Luna," Martha replied, though she kept her head down. "The carriage left at dawn.""I have my husband back," I whispered to myself, ignoring the girl’s lack of enthusiasm. "Nothing is going to separate us now. Not her, not the pack, not anyone."I walked down to the dining hall for breakfast, my heart fluttering. I had picked out a silk gown of deep emerald, one that hugged my curves and hinted at the life growing inside me. I expected a smile. I expected him to look at me with the relief of a man who had finally woken

  • The Rejected Plus-Size Mate   Try your luck

Elara’s POVThe panicked hammering on the door shattered the moment. I pulled away from Elias, my heart hammering against my ribs for a different reason now. My skin was still buzzing from his touch, but the primal alarm in Frey’s voice sliced through the haze of the kiss."Frey? What is it?" I called out, reaching for my dagger on the nightstand."The hallway!" Frey shouted through the wood. "Move, now!"I looked at Elias, whose eyes were still dark with interrupted desire, now rapidly shifting into the sharp focus of a predator. "Is it Nathan?" I whispered, the name tasting like poison. The thought of him lurking in the shadows, tracking my scent through every village, made my stomach twist. "Elias, if he’s here—if he’s followed us this far—""I won't let him touch you," Elias growled, his hand already on his sword. "Stay behind me."He threw the door open, but it wasn't a blade that met us. It was a wall of thick, choking gray. I coughed, covering my nose with the crook of my elbow

  • The Rejected Plus-Size Mate   You need to see this

Elias’s POVI didn't wait for the man on the ground to recover. My pulse was a frantic rhythm of wolfish instinct and pure, unadulterated rage. I had tracked Elara’s scent for miles, the metallic tang of her frustration and the sweet musk of her skin leading me straight to this gods-forsaken inn, and the sight of these vermin circling her had snapped something inside me."Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?" one of the man’s companions barked, stepping off the porch. He was a thick-necked brute, smelling of sour ale and arrogance. "You can't just come into our village and—""I can do whatever I want to someone who looks at her like that," I snarled, stepping into his space. I didn't give him time to swing. I caught him with a hard left hook to the jaw that sent him stumbling back into a stack of crates."Elias, stop!" Elara shouted behind me, but I was already moving. Two more of them lunged. One tried to grab my shoulder, his fingers digging into my coat. "She's just a frea

  • The Rejected Plus-Size Mate   Jealousy

Elara's POVI stood rooted to the spot, the warmth of the cabin behind me feeling suddenly like an oven. Nathan looked like a man who had been dragged through the thorns of the Darkwood. I stepped back, my hand still gripping the edge of the door."Come in," I said, my voice barely a thread. "Just... come in."He stumbled past me, his presence heavy and suffocating. Elias stood by the table, his eyes narrowing, his hand dropping to the back of the chair as if preparing to use it as a weapon. Nathan didn't even look at him. He just paced the small space of our living area, his breath coming in ragged, uneven hitches."What is the issue, Nathan?" I asked, closing the door and leaning my back against it. "You look like the sky is falling. Is it the borders? Is there word from the southern packs?"Nathan stopped and looked at me, but his eyes were vacant, staring through me at something invisible. "The sky isn't falling, Elara. It’s the foundations. The roots of the world are turning to d
