LOGINOne Step Forward.....
The kiss changed everything. And absolutely nothing. At least that was what Judith told herself the next morning. She woke up. Brushed her teeth. Answered emails. Had breakfast. Pretended she hadn't spent half the night replaying the moment in her head. The way Liam had looked at her. The way he'd said her name. The way the kiss had felt less like a beginning and more like coming home. It was deeply inconvenient. "You look suspiciously happy." Ava's voice came through the phone. Judith nearly choked on her coffee. "What?" "I know that silence." "You don't know any silence." "I know your silence." Judith groaned. Ava gasped dramatically. "Oh my God." "What?" "You kissed him." The coffee nearly went down the wrong pipe. "How did you—" Ava screamed. Actually screamed. "I KNEW IT." Judith immediately pulled the phone away from her ear. "You are unbelievable." "You kissed him." "You don't know that." "The denial confirms it." Judith ended the call. Ava called back immediately. Judith ignored it. Three more calls followed. She blocked her temporarily for peace. Across the city, Liam wasn't doing much better. Victoria found him smiling at absolutely nothing during a meeting. That alone was enough to concern her. Her son was many things. Smiling at empty space was not one of them. "What happened?" Liam looked up. "Nothing." Victoria narrowed her eyes. "Judith." The answer came too quickly. "Judith what?" Victoria smiled. There it was.....confirmation. Her son had never stood a chance. Later that afternoon, Judith attended another checkup. This time alone. Or so she thought. She was halfway through the appointment when someone knocked on the door. The doctor looked up. "Come in." Liam entered carrying flowers. Judith stared. The doctor stared. Even Liam looked slightly embarrassed. "You're late." "I know." "Why are you carrying flowers?" Liam glanced at the bouquet. "I panicked." The doctor laughed. Judith tried not to but failed without much effort. For the rest of the appointment, the atmosphere felt different. Not awkward. Just... softer. Every glance lingered. Every smile felt more intimate. The kiss sat quietly between them. Unspoken. Yet impossible to ignore. When the appointment ended, they walked toward the parking lot together. Neither seemed in a hurry to leave. Finally Liam stopped. "About the other night." Judith's heartbeat immediately betrayed her. "What about it?" Liam smiled. "You know exactly what." Unfortunately, she did and very much did for that matter. For several moments neither spoke. Then Liam stepped closer. Not enough to invade her space. Just enough to make her aware of him. "Do you regret it?" The question was quiet and careful. Judith looked at him. Really looked at him. The man she'd married. The man she'd divorced. The man who somehow became both a stranger and the most familiar person in her life. "No." The answer came easily. Because it was true. She didn't regret it. Not even a little. Relief flashed across Liam's face. Gone almost immediately. But she saw it. "Good." His voice sounded lower than usual. "Because neither do I." Silence settled between them again. Comfortable silence. The kind that had once been impossible. Then Liam surprised her. "I'm not going to pressure you." Judith blinked. "What?" "I'm serious." His expression became thoughtful. "We kissed." "Yes." "I love you." Judith's breath caught. Liam continued before she could react. "And I want another chance." The honesty hit harder than any grand declaration could have. Because there was no performance. No manipulation. No desperation. Just truth. "But I'm not rushing you." For a moment, neither moved. Then Judith asked softly, "Why?" Liam smiled. A small one. "Because the last time I had your love, I took it for granted." The words landed directly in her chest. "This time, I want to earn it." Judith looked away. Mostly because her eyes suddenly felt suspiciously warm. And because hearing exactly what she'd needed years ago felt unfair. Beautiful. But unfair. Before she could answer, another voice interrupted. "Well." Both turned. Ethan Blackwood stood several feet away. Looking remarkably calm. Which was usually a bad sign. His gaze moved between them. The flowers. The expressions. The distance that wasn't quite distance anymore. And understanding settled instantly. For a moment, nobody spoke. Then Ethan smiled. Not bitterly. Not angrily. Just sadly. "I suppose I'm late." The words hit harder than Judith expected. Because Ethan wasn't a villain. Never had been. He had loved her honestly. Supported her quietly. Stayed when things were difficult. And now he was watching her fall in love with someone else. Again. For the first time, Judith realized that hearts weren't the only things at risk of breaking.Forever, This Time...Three Months LaterThe Smith mansion had never been this noisy. Not because of business meetings. Not because of family gatherings. Not because of corporate events.Because of one tiny baby girl.Liam stood in the nursery holding his daughter while she stared at him with wide, curious eyes."You know," he said seriously, "your mother is unreasonable."The baby blinked.Clearly listening."She says I can't buy you a pony."The baby made a small sound.Liam nodded."Exactly."The nursery door opened.Judith walked in."Who are you conspiring with?"Liam immediately looked innocent."Nobody."Their daughter chose that exact moment to squeal.Judith crossed her arms."She's definitely your daughter.""Because she's adorable?""Because she's helping you lie."Liam grinned.Three months into parenthood, he was still ridiculously obsessed with their daughter. Not that Judith was any better. The only difference was that she pretended to be rational.Liam didn't bother pr
Welcome to the World.....By four o'clock in the morning, Judith had officially decided that childbirth was a terrible idea.A truly terrible idea. The fact that it was too late to change her mind only made things worse."Liam."He immediately looked up from beside the hospital bed."Yeah?""This is your fault."Liam blinked. The nurse laughed. The doctor laughed.Even Judith looked like she knew the accusation made no sense.Unfortunately for Liam, logic wasn't particularly useful at that moment."I'm sorry.""You should be."Another contraction hit before she could continue.Judith grabbed his hand so hard he was fairly certain she was testing the limits of human bone strength. When it finally passed, she released him and took a slow breath.Liam looked at his hand. Then at her. Then back at his hand."I think that's the third time you've almost broken my fingers.""You'll survive."The nurse nodded."You'll definitely survive."Liam was beginning to suspect nobody in the room respe
The Worst Day to Go Into Labor...Judith was thirty-six weeks pregnant when she decided she was perfectly capable of attending a board meeting.Everyone else disagreed.Especially Liam."You're not going."Judith looked up from her breakfast."Watch me."Liam sighed. They were sitting in the dining room of the Lux estate, where he had somehow become a permanent fixture. At this point, nobody questioned it anymore.Even Julian had stopped complaining.Mostly."You were in the hospital three weeks ago.""I was fine.""The doctor said rest.""The doctor also said I could move around.""Not for twelve-hour meetings."Judith ignored him and continued eating.Across the table, Eleanor quietly moved her chair farther away.Richard did the same.Years of marriage had taught them when an argument was about to happen. And when survival required distance."I'll only be there for a few hours."Liam gave her a look. The kind that clearly said he didn't believe a word she was saying.Unfortunately,
The next few weeks went by surprisingly fast.Judith was now officially forbidden from going to the office unless absolutely necessary, which meant she spent most of her time working from home and complaining about it.Nobody sympathized.Especially not Liam."I'm bored."Liam glanced up from his laptop. They were sitting in the library at the Lux estate, both supposedly working."That's unfortunate."Judith narrowed her eyes."You don't care.""I care deeply.""You don't sound like it."Liam smiled without looking up."I've heard this exact complaint seventeen times this week.""You're exaggerating.""It was nineteen."Judith grabbed a cushion and threw it at him.Unfortunately, she missed.Liam looked far too pleased with himself. Before she could launch a second attack, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen. Her mother.Immediately suspicious."Hello?""Don't make plans for Saturday."Judith frowned."What plans?""You don't need to know."That was never a good sign."Mom.""Sa
Getting back together was surprisingly anticlimactic. There were no headlines. No dramatic announcements. No grand gestures. One day Judith and Liam were divorced people trying to co-parent, and the next they were somehow acting like a married couple again. The only difference was that this time they actually talked to each other.A lot.Three days after their conversation in the garden, Judith was sitting in the living room when Ava stormed into the house."Is it true?"Judith didn't even look up from her book."Good afternoon, Ava.""It's true."Judith sighed."Who told you?""Liam."That made her look up."He told you?"Ava looked deeply offended."Do you know how long I've been waiting for this?"Before Judith could respond, Ava threw herself onto the couch."I deserve compensation.""For what?""For emotional damages.""You weren't emotionally damaged.""I absolutely was."Judith laughed. For the first time in a long while, the future didn't feel complicated. It felt normal. And
The Answer....Judith barely slept that night. Not because she didn't know what she wanted. The problem was that she did.For years, she had imagined Liam standing in front of her and telling her he loved her. She had imagined him fighting for her, choosing her, seeing her.Now that it had happened, she couldn't stop thinking about everything that came with it.Love wasn't the issue.Trust was.Liam had spent months proving he had changed, but part of her still remembered the woman who used to sit alone at dinner while her husband worked late. The woman who waited for calls that never came. The woman who convinced herself that being lonely was normal.By the time the sun rose, Judith was still awake. And exhausted.Around eight o'clock, there was a knock on her bedroom door. Before she could answer, Ava walked in carrying coffee and a bag of pastries."You look terrible.""Good morning to you too."Ava sat down on the bed."You didn't sleep."Judith groaned."Is it that obvious?""You
Liam didn't think about Judith for the rest of the night. At least, that was what he told himself.Unfortunately, his mind disagreed. The moment he got home, he found himself remembering small details from the auction. The way she smiled when speaking to Ethan. The confidence she carried now, the f
Liam didn't sleep, he couldn't sleep. He sat in his study until nearly dawn, a glass of untouched whiskey on the table beside him.The city lights outside gradually disappeared as morning arrived, but his thoughts remained exactly where they had been for the past twelve hours.Judith was pregnant.
The following week, that was on Thursday, Judith had her prenatal checkup. She hated hospitals and it wasn't because she was afraid of them but because they were boring, very boring and most things she didn't understand.Unfortunately, nobody seemed to care about her opinion.Especially not Julian.
Liam wasn't a jealous man.At least, that was what he told himself countless times after the divorce. Jealousy was irrational. It clouded judgment and made people behave foolishly. He had spent years watching businessmen destroy partnerships and relationships because they allowed emotions to dicta
