Mira’s tone softened. “Scar… can I ask something?”

Scarlet looked up from her bed, her fingers tracing the edge of the golden bracelet. Her voice was hollow. “What?”

Mira hesitated before whispering, “Your… biological parents. Do you know who they were?”

Scarlet froze. For a second, her breath hitched, her eyes widening like she’d just been slapped. The question cracked something open in her ... something she had buried so fucking deep it felt fossilized.

“No,” she said finally, her voice trembling, though she tried to make it sound strong. “I never met them. I was just… there. Like a stray cat someone threw out.”
