Masuk“Please keep your distance. I might not be able to control myself. I can hardly keep all my reasons right now.”
Avery nodded her head. She does not know what was going on, but she can tell that the man wasn’t joking about it.
“Tell me, what can I do for you right now?”
Avery didn’t know why she worried about the man so much that she couldn’t leave him be. He already refused her help, so why was she still asking him such a question? She knows that it wasn’t because she’s a concerned citizen who happened to come across a sick person. Damn. He looked far stronger than her, not just in appearance but also by the demeanor he exudes.
The man did not move or answer. Avery got even more worried, so she walked nearer to him. The man opened his eyes, his golden eyes glowing as if he saw something worthy to feast on. He pulled Avery’s hand and hugged her entire body, his head resting on her neck. He sniffed on her neck, as if he was savoring Avery’s scent.
“Who dares to claim what is mine? Who the fuck does he think he is to mark what belongs to me?”
Avery was so confused. She couldn’t move her body as if all of her strength had left her. Her body was getting hotter with the man’s scent embracing her. She tried to push him, but couldn’t.
“Stop… Let’s just stay here like this,” the man pleaded. “I will never hurt you or force you to do something you don’t like.”
“Let me go!”
The man chuckled, but it sounded like they were forced. “Why couldn’t you wait until I found you, hmm? Why must you marry someone else and be marked by him?”
Avery didn’t know what to do, so he let him hug her body. He promised her that he wouldn’t dare to force her into something. Though she was still confused, why did she trust him so much when they had just met? Is it because of his eyes that look at her with yearning? Or was it because of the gentleness of his touch?
Avery stared at the man, trying to find some answers, but all it gave her was the sudden tingly sensation in her stomach and the hot feeling whenever their skin touched while her heart is pounding in excitement. She couldn’t find a suitable answer other than… No! That was impossible. The possibility of finding your destined person was one in a thousand. The possibility is just so low, so how come James and she both found their destined one? It must be a scheme!
Avery pushed the man. “You must be one of those werewolves who pretend to be their victim’s fated mate, and once they fall into your schemes, you will try to take over the pack!” she concluded.
The man chuckled. “My clever one, I am glad that you have your guards up, but I am no ordinary werewolf. I won’t do such petty schemes.”
Avery raised her brows. “What is your name, then?” she urged him.
“They call me Axel.”
“I am not asking what they are calling you. I am asking what your name is.”
“I am afraid that you won’t believe me if I tell you who I am, my clever one.”
“How bigtime are you that you are this hesitant to tell me trivial things?”
“I am Aspher Prometheus,” he declared. Aspher? The beta of that pack? Avery chuckled. He must be jesting! How come that the Beta of the elite clan was out here alone near their territory? That can’t be true!
“I can tell that you’re not buying what I said.”
Avery was about to answer when she heard a passing sound swiftly moving around the area. One… Two… Four… Seven… Nine… Ten. Ten werewolves were surrounding them, and their aura is similar to a beta! Avery immediately moved backwards. She can feel their killing intent! They’re not even trying to hide it!
Aspher, who was lying on the ground with his eyes half-closed, slowly got up. “Don’t you even dare to touch her!” he declared. “She’s mine.”
The growling stopped. The aoelian sound caused by the fast movements of the werewolves surrounding them stopped.
“What’s going on?” Avery asked. She looked at the place where Aspher was lying down but he couldn’t see him anymore, as if he had just vanished into thin air. “What the fuck is going on?” she whispered to herself.
“Luna!” Avery immediately looked at Brylle, who was running towards her in a hurry. “Did you get hurt? Did they attack you?” he asked.
Avery shook his head. “What happened?”
“The usual occurrence. You’re not hurt, are you?”
“I am not. By usual occurrence, you mean planting some bomb inside the pack and waiting for it to explode?”
Beta Brylle nodded his head. Avery’s brows creased. They’re at it again? They are attacking another pack again? They are trying to subdue Avery’s pack, the pack that was once in second in power next to the Prometheus clan? And with a petty scheme at their disposal? Just how easy did they think it would be to come up with such a plan?
“I am fine now, James. So, tell me what you wanted,” Avery asked. James took a deep breath. “This is about Georgina,” he declared. Hearing Georgina’s name was enough to make her blood boil. Avery wasn’t sure before about Georgina’s reason for letting her out of the prison, but after thinking about it so hard, Avery became so sure that Georgina did it to make her suffer more by watching her beloved pack die from the attacker’s cruel hand. That is how evil and scheming Georgina is, and Avery could only laugh how idiotic she was in her past life to fall from her schemes. All she did was manipulate James, and because she couldn’t go against the Alpha who was supported by almost all of the pack members, she couldn’t do anything but endure the hardships James gave her. If she can’t find any strength within the pack that is now being manipulated by Georgina, seeking help from her parents’ sworn friend may be able to help her establish greater authority. The invasion of another pack is i
“Avery, I found my fated pair.” Avery looked at James in confusion. He wasn’t tied up in a rope like the last time she saw him. In fact, he looked much better than before. She looked around and found that the territory was in its best shape, as if the attack on their pack and territory had never happened. There was no spilled blood on the vast land, no bunch of bodies piled up like trash, and no bodies were hanging from trees. Avery felt like she was in a dream. This must be her dreamland where her desire to save her common folks and her territory dwells. This has to be a dream, Avery thought. She saw her people die with her bare eyes, but upon seeing the lively ambience in her pack, she wished that she would not wake up from her dream. James held her hand when she did not answer. “Avery?” “Where am I?” she murmured confusedly. “You are in the Knight Pack territory, our territory, Avery,” James gently whispered. He walked near her and caressed Avery’s face. “Are you okay? You’re
Avery couldn’t hear what Axel said. Her full attention was now on the young lad who was shouting in pain while being dragged on the ground. A rope tied his whole body. His body was full of bruises, and Avery just couldn’t stand by and watch the torture happening. She feels the need to do something for her pack members. Even if she was stripped of the title of being a Luna, she has come to love the members of the pack that accepted her, the pack that her ancestors built with love and care. She’ll protect it even if it's the last thing that she needs to do, even if it causes her death. What are you planning to do?” Axel asked as he stopped Avery from advancing to the men who seemed to be having fun torturing the lad.Avery looked at Axel with animosity visible in her eyes. She just couldn’t figure him out. Why is he acting like he cares for her when he is the reason why she was tortured in the first place? Not only was he the reason why she was treated like a traitor by her own pack, but
I have to get out of here, those were the words that Avery kept on repeating in her head. She has to get out and save her people from Georgina’s cruel schemes. If she can’t get out of the underground prison, she won’t be able to fight with them. She might die regretting everything she had done and what she could not do for her pack. What she wanted was to save her people from Georgina and the werewolf who presented himself as Axel. She may not be able to leave the territory, but her people can flee and find refuge somewhere from the wild. At the very least, she should die with pride so she wouldn’t be embarrassed to face her parents in the afterlife after dying.Avery rummaged through the basket that Georgina threw at her. She found the key to the shackles and the cell prison. She wasted no time and freed herself from the shackles that had her skin burning for days. Although she does not know what Georgina is scheming against her, this is her only chance to escape the prison. Chances
“Just what the hell is going on?” Avery whispered to herself. She was imprisoned in the underground prison all by herself. Her wrists and feet were tied in shackles made of silver. It was truly painful. She felt like her very bones were being ground repeatedly. The shackles were also leaving marks on both of her wrists and feet. Avery felt like her skin was being burned. It was truly torture for every werewolf, a nightmare for those who got to know what this kind of torture feels like. But it did not end there. It has been days already, and she at least expects James to visit her, but he hasn’t. Even Maya, her loyal companion, did not see her, nor did the other council members who had sworn their lives to serve her their loyalty, even if it cost them their lives.. The thought of them abandoning her haunts her more than the shackles that prevent her from escaping.“Don’t tell me you’re still expecting them to get you out of here?”Avery looked at the approaching figure. Her petite body,
“Let me go! How dare you lay your hands on me without my permission?” Avery shouted angrily.James scoffed with his annoyingly smug face. “Right now, you are not the Luna of this pack anymore,” he declared. He stood up and looked ate Avery with his piercing eyes. “You are bound for torture to spill those who are on your side!” he declared. “We can’t let a traitor run around here. Who knows what you might do next? You might aim for my neck if I allow you to run loose.”Avery gritted her teeth. What the heck is wrong with him? It was as if he had forgotten the pact and his promise to her! A werewolf will never go back to his words! That’s how they uphold their pride! So how come that James kept on taking back his words? “I am not a traitor! You know that I can’t betray you no matter what!”“How can we know that?” Georgina declared. “Those werewolves who attacked us were trying to find you, the Luna, and you are the Luna of this pack! Stop trying to deny it when the whole pack heard what
