Akaisha had gone back and forth debating on calling him. She paced the room until her link rang. The bracelet glowed red. It was the sergeant calling her. She stared at her bracelet until the last second. Pressing the button, there was a click in her head connecting the call. “Yes?” A heavy silence filled her brain at first, but then a cough echoed from the other end. She was about to speak again. Acheki cleared his throat. “Ahem. I couldn’t find anything out about you. It's as if you don't exist. He created our system.” There was a brief pause. “How do I know you are telling the truth? I mean, you could just be trying to get the galaxy's humanitarian into a scandal.” That response was one that she was expecting. She didn’t want to give him a glimpse into her past, but there was only one way she knew he would understand. The thought of anyone thinking of her as a liar when she was finally comfortable coming out made her feel an unusual way. She sighed. “I can show you the truth.”
She was ready to teleport to the library but wasn’t sure if she should drive. Police were looking forAkaisha was ready to teleport to the library but wasn’t sure if, instead, she should drive. Police were still looking for her vehicle, and her. So, driving her car was out of the question. It shouldn’t have been a thought in her mind, not until they revoked the warrant. There was another way to get there. Misty looked at her as if he knew. “Long as you ride close to my back, you won’t be seen.”Akaisha kissed the top of his head. If animals could blush, she was sure she had seen a tinge of pink pepper in his feathers. “You are a smart boy; we just have to be incredibly careful. I’m a wanted woman and you shouldn’t exist.” She shrugged her shoulders matter-of-factly. “This combination…” she pointed between them. “… is a recipe for disaster. If anything happens, you go invisible and come back here. I’ll leave the bedroom window open.”“I’ll try to do as you say.”She went to the back bed
Sergeant Acheki stumbled from the revelation. The pain, agony, and horror this creature went through destroyed a small part of him. He needed to sit down and gather his thoughts. He took a seat and buried his head in his hands. Then beckoned her to follow suit. The scraping of the chair signaled she had taken a seat. When they were sitting opposite each other, he lifted his head and spoke. “So, what you’re saying is this death certificate I found for an Akaisha Lemmings, is it?” He pulled up the file on his watch. The holographic files streamed until they landed on the certificate. He pressed a button to enlarge it so she could see it. “You were born July 29th, and died because of a house fire?” Akaisha hadn’t heard that last name in an exceptionally long time. Seeing her own death certificate caused her to tear up. Tears threaten to spill down her cheeks. She scrubbed at her face and sniffled. Her voice was a little hoarse when she spoke. “Y-yeah. That is me. Was me. My, my parents w
It wasn’t hard to understand what he was saying, but to actually meet a designer elf born in the GMW, genetically modified womb, made her feel as if she wasn’t alone. He wasn’t a typical person either. Even if it wasn’t truly the same, for a small moment, she felt a kinship with him. “I see. So, did they also try to give you talents too? I’ve heard that’s how some meta humans were formed.” “No, my parents, they wanted me to be as normal as possible without the stress of having to deal with a meta human. The only thing remotely different about me is the way my ears lay. I was cute enough to get away with things, but not powerful enough to do any harm. My family wants us to blend in as much as possible with the humans.” “I think whether you are normal, supercharged, or a meta human you would still be kind and probably work for the police. You have that aura about you.” She gave a soft smile. “Who knows? I wasn’t interested in the force when I was younger. I went through a rebellious
Jalefel stayed behind in the private room for a few extra minutes. The thundering of his heart conflicted with his stony exterior. His mind went adrift. Thoughts of why he felt out of sorts when he saw her. Why he wanted to do what ever it takes to protect her. Her image floated back into his mind. She was beautiful to him. Her features appeared exotic, but he knew they weren’t. Those features were enhanced by the many serums forced upon her. His heart raced at the prospect of eating alone with her. Watching her face delight from wonderful food. The way her eyes would focus only on him during their meal. Finally, he headed out of the library. A robrarian stopped him. “Excuse me, sir? Will you be checking any of these books out?” He tilted his head at her in confusion. He had reserved no books. The robrarian expected his question and spoke once more. “Your friend with the tail thought you would need these.” She showed him the different titles. The Lust Chronicles, I Am What I Am Accept
Akaisha and Misty went to their place and picked up Blue before they went to the warehouse, their new home. The three of them stood outside of it for a few moments. Basking in the deteriorating essence. It was their home, their new safe haven. A project to be completed. The three went inside. The walls were destroyed by water damage. Rotting wood with broken pieces digging into the dirt. The ceiling was on its last stand. The two pets looked at her, then back to the building. There were a few hours before her date with Jalefel Acheki. Blue took that opportunity to explore, carefully. Misty found a spot that he claimed as his own. A deep hole in the wall perfect to perch in. Akaisha went about the room, scanning the interior, getting a feeling of what would need to be done. “Can I keep this hole in the wall?” Misty spoke. “I found a dead rat back here. Can I have it?” Blue came back to the room with the carcass in her mouth. “Eww, drop it. You don’t know if there are any diseases on
