LOGINSERAPHINA
My lungs locked, the air suddenly too heavy to draw in. Heat crawled up my spine—not shame, but something sharper, more dangerous.
I stood motionless in the center of the vast, crimson-draped hall, the gold of my gown blazing under the lights, every gaze pressing into my skin.
The crown lay at my feet.
Rexton didn’t hesitate. He didn’t look back.
He crossed the distance to Dahlia in seconds, his voice tight with worry as he gathered her into his arms—careful, protective, as if she were made of something fragile and irreplaceable.
And in that moment, clarity hit harder than humiliation ever could.
“Don’t just stand there!” My so-called dad gritted, breaking the dreadful silence that had settled around me.
My wet eyes cut to his frame as he approached the platform, his face twisted in a mask of fury with no trace of concern for me.
His hand closed around my arm, nails biting into my skin. “Do you know how many eyes were on you tonight?”
“All you had to do—all you ever had to do—was keep him.” He hissed.
His words were the slap I needed for realization to kick in. I was losing Rexton, my lover and the father of my child, to Dahlia. I gasped defeatedly as I remembered Celeste, who was still nestled in the arms of a servant.
“He wouldn’t even hold his daughter as he held her.” Kia growled in my head, and I seized her anger to free myself from my dad’s hold.
“You’re a failure, Seraphina!” Dad barked even as I walked towards my daughter.
Sniffing back tears and ignoring him, I shakily said to the servant holding Celeste, “Take her to the Alpha mansion and stay with her. I will be there soon.”
“Understood, Luna…” The servant answered respectfully, yet that title felt like a kick to my gut.
I resisted the urge to look back at the crown as I walked out of the empty hall, tracing Rexton's scent to the pack hospital, where he was standing over Dahlia in a private ward. Something about that scene dragged me down memory lane.
I recalled how I endured premature labor without Rexton, and I found myself envying Dahlia even though he assured me I had nothing to worry about.
“What’s happening with her?” Rexton asked the doctor impatiently, worry lines etched on his face, “Will she and the baby be alright?”
“They will be fine, Alpha.” The doctor reassured him as he finished his examination. “She collapsed due to stress. Humans are weaker beings who need constant rest, especially after a long trip.”
I held my breath as Rexton’s lips parted, but before he could utter another word, a roar reverberated, “Human?”
From the corner of my eyes, I saw the familiar frame of Rexton’s dad, Callan, the former Alpha of Crimson Moon Pack. Behind him were my dad and a few pack elders who must be here to get answers to the same question ringing in my head.
“What’s so special about her that he dropped the Luna crown and stopped the coronation ceremony?”
I was dying to know too.
“You brought a human into our world and even let her participate in the pack’s ceremony?” Callan queried with disbelief, anger shimmering in his orbs.
My Dad seized the opportunity, adding quickly, “This doesn’t align with our traditions, Alpha, and she isn’t strong enough to be amongst us.”
“Alpha…” Dahlia’s voice broke, tears spilling down her cheeks.
Rexton stiffened. The lines of confusion etched on his forehead vanished.
Then he moved.
Not towards me.
He knelt beside her instead.
“Don’t cry, Dahlia.” His usually commanding voice came out gentle as she comforted her. I felt a pinch of jealousy in my chest because he was never gentle with anyone but me… until now.
Then he turned to the Elders, eyes throwing daggers and teeth clenching, “My pack doesn’t forget those who helped and Dahlia was helpful during the border crises, treating my injured warriors.”
“Of course we shouldn’t forget, Alpha.” Callan retorted. “There are other ways to—”
“I’ll not abandon her!” Rexton seethed, his Alpha aura oozing from his pores.
Suddenly, his gaze found me, glinting with hope as he whispered, “At least you understand me, Seraphina. Right?”
“No! I don’t!” I wanted to scream and shatter his hope.
A part of me wanted to demand answers, but the part that feared what the truth would do to me resisted.
Instead, I heard myself saying, each word tasting like self-betrayal, “Yes, I understand and support you.”
Rexton nodded with approval, his gaze softening into the one I loved, yet my heart hammered when he said, “Good. I expect you to take care of her when she returns home with us.”
Within a few hours, my supposed coronation day became a day for me to tend to a woman who would soon stab me where it hurt the most. An attack I didn’t see coming, not when Rexton found me in my room that evening, hugging me tightly.
“Today changes nothing, Sera.” He whispered, pressing a kiss to my temple. “We’ll choose another day for your coronation.”
His words soothed me.
He said we would hold the ceremony again, and that was indeed a sign of respect toward me. I wanted to believe him. So I did.I wanted to believe him. So I did.

The next morning, I wasn’t looking for anything. I wasn’t suspicious. I was simply walking down the corridor when I heard a sound—soft, unfamiliar, and out of place.A woman’s voice.
I slowed before I even realized it, my steps faltering as the door ahead stood ajar.
Rexton was inside. So was Dahlia. He sat before her, his posture unguarded, his focus undivided. His hand cradled her foot, thumbs moving in slow, practiced circles as if this were something he had done a hundred times before.
“Hmm… right there, Alpha,” Dahlia breathed, her voice thick as she shifted, her knees parting slightly.
Rexton chuckled—low, warm—without looking up. His fingers slid higher, lingering, careless, and far too familiar.
The room felt suddenly too small. Too intimate.
They didn’t notice me at first.
And that was the worst part. The quiet touches. The shared murmurs. The ease between them should have been mine to share with Rexton.
My chest tightened, heat flooding my veins as the truth settled—slow, brutal, undeniable.
“What,” I said, my voice sharper than I felt, “are you doing?!”
SERAPHINA~~The air felt thin. Or maybe my lungs had gotten too greedy with the past closing in on me. I wanted to turn and walk away. To disappear into the library annex and find the safety of Dr. Nicola’s medical theories or run back to Kieran, but my legs felt rooted to the marble floor.“I believe you’re mistaken,” I said, my voice steady despite the earthquake happening in my chest. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have matters to attend to.”I tried to step around them, but Camille shifted, blocking my path with a sneer. “Not so fast, doll face. You nearly ruined my dress. You owe me an apology.”I felt a spark of Kia’s bottled temper, but I inhaled deeply, calming the fire in my Lycan blood. I rolled my eyes, a gesture that suited the image I was trying to present. “I already apologized, even though you are the one who is in my way.”My nostrils flared as I took it a step further, hoping that the duo would realize I wasn’t someone to mess with. “If you can’t handle your champ
SERAPHINA~~“We are here, Princess…” For the first time since we started the journey to the neutral ground where the gala was happening, Kieran’s voice hit my eardrums, yanking me out of my thoughts. I closed my eyes briefly, trying to calm myself and make my racing heart believe that nothing could go wrong. I mean, Seraphina wasn’t here. She couldn’t be seen even if that monster attended—“Are you okay?” Kieran’s voice resonated through the car once again. My eyes fluttered open as I nodded, “Yes. I’m okay. Everything is okay.”“Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself and not me, Sera.” Kieran’s voice sounded like the soft jelly I could always rely on. But rather than take the comfort he was offering, I glared at him and said, “You can’t call me Sera for the rest of the day, Kieran.” I immediately felt bad for yelling at him, but I was terrified he would make the same mistake when we stepped out of the car. “You really need to relax, Sera. This is Kieran, and he wou
SERAPHINA~~It’s happening tomorrow. The gala that I have dreaded for the past week will happen tomorrow, and while I genuinely looked forward to picking Dr. Nicola’s brain, I still wish I didn’t have to attend. My stomach has been in knots, a constant tug-of-war between my desire for medical knowledge and the instinct to stay hidden in these silver mountains forever.“Don’t tell me you are overthinking again, Sera.” Those softly spoken words didn’t loosen the knots tightening in my stomach. Even though Serana wore a big smile as she stepped into my dressing room, her brows were raised as if daring me toanswer her question with the same words; she must be tired of hearing me speak. “I can’t help it, Serana,” I whispered, face-palming as I thought about everything that could go wrong tomorrow. “The life I have here is on the line—” “Not if you follow your well-laid-out plans, Seraphina.” SDerana’s royal aura was strong as she spoke, but the soothing energy of a queen was what do
ALPHA REXTON~~The feel of her lush, juicy lips on mine caused my heart to quicken with excitement. I heard myself moan into the kiss, feeling a deep sense of relief because the long period of yearning was finally over. My arms snaked slowly around her waist, tracing the familiar curves as I pulled her closer… pulled her flush like... Like, I couldn’t get enough of her. “Wait for me, Sera.” Another pleasurable groan ripped past my throat, control slipping away with these words that sealed the deal for me: “I’ll come back and marry you, Sera. You just wait.” The words echoed through my being. They were more than just a vow I intended to keep. They were a lifeline I just knew I had to hold on to as I leaned in to claim those sweet lips again. But the moment fractured like a broken record. Suddenly, the happiness in those blue eyes faded, and Sera… my Sera was standing a few yards away, instead of being secured in my arms. And in her arms was a child. A baby girl. I tried to c
SERAPHINA~~“Mommy!” Celeste’s shriek snapped me back to reality, and I once again buried the thought of my past like I have been doing for five years. I just couldn’t face the past, even though I have been told that doing so would hasten the healing of my soul.“You have to help me, Mommy! Please.” Celeste exclaimed amidst laughter as Kieran threw her higher. As soon as Kieran caught her, I stepped in to stop him from repeating the process. “You don’t want her to throw up all over you, do you?” Kieran chuckled deeply, holding on to Celeste’s body. “It wouldn’t be the first time.”Truly, it wouldn’t. Together with me, he has experienced the good and bad days of parenting Celeste. While my brother and Serena were Celeste’s favorite people, Kieran had stepped into the role of a dad. An excellent and available one, in fact.I watched them for a moment, my heart squeezing with a bittersweet warmth as memories flooded my mind. “We both know he wouldn’t mind becoming her dad full-
FIVE YEARS LATERSERAPHINA~~My chest rose and fell in rapid succession. My breath was harsh and deep as the heavy wind of the valley blew past me as I dashed through the cleared path. Or even more appropriately, the wind bowed to me.Kia tore through the high valley, her Lycan legs barely touching the earth. Her heavy footsteps echoed like thunder, adrenaline gushing through me even though I was behind the scenes, watching the beautiful scenery through Kia’s eyes. Beside me was a massive Lycan with fur as dark as shadows or even the midnight itself. He was one of the biggest Lycans around, even though he wasn’t Royal like Kia, and he moved with a familiar grace that made me smile. Kieran. He has been one of the constants in my life. One that I’m grateful for— “Don’t get carried away, Sera,” Kia grunted a warning through our bond. “I might be in charge here, but I still need you to focus so we can beat him this time.” Racing with Kieran has been a relaxing activity since I
