CHAPTER 22

Aurora

I barely managed to return to my room. My chest felt like it weighed a ton of bricks placed upon it. I gently put my hand on my chest and tried to take a deep breath.

As I closed my eyes, trying to concentrate. My mind kept wondering on its own. No matter how much I tried to focus, I kept getting distracted.

“What just happened? Those soft lips.” I mumbled to myself. I gently bit my lower lip, trying to savor the sweet taste of Darius. His kiss was fierce like a hungry wolf, but at the same time it was kind and gentle. 

My knees could hardly hold up my body. I felt like letting myself loose and just melting to the floor. I swiped my lower lip with my hands to confirm I wasn’t in a dream. “ Even if it is, I don’t ever want to wake up.” I thought to myself. 

I remembered hearing the she-wolves in the Moonfall Palace kitchen whispering among themselves. After working hours, they will gather behind and giggle between themselves. Of course, they always chased me away because I wasn’t worthy to sit down amongst them as a lowly omega. But, I lingered by the door and quietly listened to their giggles and conversations.

“I heard the Alpha of Silverfang pack is ruthless to his enemies, but his a very romantic and passionate lover.” One of the she-wolves whispered. They all chuckled, but one of them made a ‘shush’ sound signaling them to lower their voice.

“You know the palace walls have ears; we have to be careful not to be heard. Or we will truly be sorry.” The second kitchen worker hushed. Their giggles swindling down, yet I could still hear them quietly cracking up.

“I would give up my right arm just to have him kiss me once.” One of them whispered. There was a quite unison sound in agreement by all of them. I stood there daydreaming that one day I would have that. 

“I wish I could see their faces now. They will be filled with envy.” I chuckled to myself. For once, all their wild and exaggerated stories finally had some element of truth in them. “ For every fire, there is smoke somewhere...” I thought to myself, I once heard someone say something like this, but I couldn’t remember the exact wording. When Cameron knocked earlier, it felt like I woke up from a pleasant dream. Suddenly. A thought crept into my mind. “ How do I face him after this? Was this a spur-of-the-moment fling, or did he want more? I thought to myself. With all the chaos in the palace, I almost forgot that the main reason why I was brought here was to be his breeder. 

The thought of him only seeing me as his breeder sent a wave of sadness through my heart. Yet, there was a part of me comfortable with that idea. Surprisingly, it even sent shivers down my spine.

“I won't mind it, as long as I’m his.” I quietly told myself. I could feel my face redden with blush and slight embarrassment. This experience was new to me, but I yearned to feel it more often.

“Ah!” I grimaced. I felt a sharp pain from the mark on my shoulder. I slowly loosened the top of my gown to see it. It was a birthmark I had since, but it was the first time it glowed. It had an irregular shape to it. This was the first time it caused me any form of sting. It was a quick flash, and the light dissipated. However, before the light vanished, I briefly saw a symbol strangely shaped inside it. Sadly, it disappeared before I could even look at it closely. 

Luckily, the pain subsided immediately, and it returned its original dark birth-mark spot. I walked to my bed, puzzled, and lay down.

“What’s happening? Why did it light up only after kissing Darius? Could it be because his my mate?” A lot of questions in my heart, left unanswered. It only increased the anxiety I felt. My only soothing relief was remembering the passionate kiss that took my breath away.

I continued reminiscing till I finally fell asleep. I wanted my dream to continue so as not to wake up.

However, my dream was nothing romantic. I found myself deep in the forest wearing warrior armor. I remember seeing Natasha in her full regalia when they first came to the moonfall palace. But mine was more ceremonial. It had the same symbol I saw in the birthmark. The armor fitted me perfectly. Also wore a stylish jewelry hanging in the middle of my forehead. It balanced just between my eyebrows.

I looked around to see if there was anyone, but all I saw were trees and flowers. Suddenly, I heard the leaves make a ruffling sound. “Who’s there?” I cried out.

A beautiful looking white wolf slowly strode towards me. It was completely white with blue pupils staring at me directly. At first, I was consumed with fear and panic. Yet, as I stared into its eyes. I felt a sense of calm. I just got that intuition that this wolf is not going to hurt me.

It circled me slowly, as I continued to watch its movements. I felt the urge to graze its fur with my hand. Immediately, I raised my hand without a second thought. It slightly bent its head and leaned towards my hand. The moment my hand touched it, I felt a surge of power run all over my body. It felt like a jolt of spark energizing me.

“I feel like I have known you my entire life.” I thought to myself. I felt myself drawn towards it as I joined my head gently with it. I removed my hand to get a deeper connection with the magnificent white wolf as it also bonded with me.
