Brynn Hollis' POV

Morpheus chose the stone circle.

Not the one at Silver Creek—another, older, buried beneath the frozen sea. We stood at its center, surrounded by runes that predated the Moon Goddess. The air was still. The cold was absolute.

"You have passed endurance. You have survived memory. Now comes choice."

"What choice?"

He gestured. Two pillars of ice rose from the ground. On one, a figure—Dax, bound, unconscious. On the other, Luna Rose, her small body frozen in sleep.

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    The Third Challenge - Choice

Brynn Hollis' POVMorpheus chose the stone circle. Not the one at Silver Creek—another, older, buried beneath the frozen sea. We stood at its center, surrounded by runes that predated the Moon Goddess. The air was still. The cold was absolute."You have passed endurance. You have survived memory. Now comes choice.""What choice?"He gestured. Two pillars of ice rose from the ground. On one, a figure—Dax, bound, unconscious. On the other, Luna Rose, her small body frozen in sleep. My heart stopped."They are not real," Morpheus said. "They are constructs. But the choice is real. You must choose which one to save. The other will perish.""That's not a choice. That's cruelty.""That is the nature of love. It forces choices. Wolves pretend they can save everyone. They cannot."I looked at Dax. At Luna Rose. Both perfect copies, their chests rising and falling."If I refuse to choose?""Then both perish. Indecision is also a choice."---I walked to Dax's pillar. His face was calm, peacefu

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    The Second Challenge - Memory

Brynn Hollis' POVI healed for three days.My paws thawed. My strength returned. But the cold lingered—not in my body, in my mind. Morpheus's words echoed: Memory. And choice.I had faced memories before. The Cave of Whispers. The Trial of Truth. The Shepherd's ghost. But those were shadows. Morpheus would not show me shadows. He would show me the wound itself.Luna Rose sat with me the night before the challenge."Mama, I saw what he's going to show you. The party. The crash. The hospital.""Those are old wounds.""They're not healed. They're just scabbed.""Then he's going to rip off the scab."She held my hand. "You'll survive. You always do."---Morpheus met me at the edge of the frozen sea.No pavilion this time. Just a circle of ice, carved with runes that pulsed faintly. In the center, a pool of dark water—not frozen, perfectly still."The Pool of Memory," he said. "Step into it. You will relive your worst moment. Not as a dream—as truth.""How long will it last?""In the waki

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    The First Challenge - Endurance

Brynn Hollis' POVMorpheus led me to the edge of the frozen wastes. Not the same place where we had spoken before—farther north, where the ice was cracked and jagged, where the wind howled without mercy. The sky was a bruised purple, the sun a distant memory."This is the starting point," he said. "The end is the southern shore. One hundred miles. No bond. No magic. Just will.""And you?""I will walk with you. Not to compete—to observe. To see if your love can endure when you cannot feel it."I looked at the expanse of white. No landmarks. No shelter. Just cold."One hundred miles.""One hundred miles."I began to walk.---The first ten miles were easy. The cold was sharp but not debilitating. My paws found rhythm on the ice. I thought of Dax, of Luna Rose, of the Circle. Their warmth carried me.Morpheus walked beside me, silent, his ancient eyes fixed on the horizon."You are thinking of them," he said."Always.""That is your strength. And your weakness.""My strength is my weakn

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    The Great Debate

Bynn Hollis' POVMorpheus sent for me at dawn. Not a threat—an invitation. A raven of ice landed on my windowsill, its beak opening to release his voice: Come. Let us talk. Not as enemies. As philosophers.I went alone again.Dax had stopped arguing. He knew me too well."The Circle will hold," he said."I know.""The children will be safe.""I know.""Come back.""I always do."---The frozen sea was different.Morpheus had built a structure at its center—not a fortress, a pavilion. Open to the sky, walls of ice that refracted the rising sun into rainbows. He sat on a simple bench, not a throne."Sit, Luna."I sat across from him."You want to debate.""I want to understand. You believe love is the answer. I believe stillness is peace. One of us is wrong.""Or both of us are partly right."He inclined his head. "Perhaps. But we cannot know without testing.""What kind of test?""Three challenges. You and I. Not combat—philosophy. Each challenge will test a different aspect of our bel

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    Morpheus

Brynn Hollis' POVFarrah was safe. But the frozen sea still called to me. Night after night, I dreamed of ice and silence, of a throne carved from frozen will, of eyes that held no warmth. Morpheus was not defeated. He was waiting.Luna Rose came to me on the third night."He wants to see you, Mama. Alone.""Did he tell you that?""He showed me. In a dream. He says you're not afraid of him. He respects that.""Did he say what he wants?""He wants you to understand."---I went north again.Dax argued. Farrah argued. Even Somnia, who knew Morpheus better than anyone, told me not to go."If he wanted to kill me, he would have done it already," I said."He wants to break you. That's different.""Then I'll prove I can't be broken."I went alone. No blades. No guards. Just the bond, warm in my chest, and the memory of every wolf who believed in me.---The frozen sea was quiet. No wind. No snow. Just stillness. My paws crunched on the ice, each step echoing into nothing.Morpheus waited at

  • The Rogue Luna's Revenge    The Rescue

Brynn Hollis' POVMorpheus had refused.I stood in his frozen hall, Farrah still encased in the pillar of ice, my offer of peace rejected. His eyes were ancient, cold, unmoved."You brought the Heart's light. But not the Heart itself. The exchange is incomplete.""I will not trade a relic for a wolf.""Then your wolf remains."He dissolved into the ice. Umbra watched me with hungry eyes."You should leave, Luna. Before you freeze with her."I looked at Farrah. Her eyes were closed, her chest barely moving.I'm not leaving you.Don't be stupid. Go.No.---We withdrew to the edge of the frozen sea.Somnia, Nox, Kai, and I huddled behind a ridge, out of sight of Morpheus's fortress. The wind howled. The cold seeped into my bones."We need a plan," Somnia said."The plan is to go back in. Break the pillar. Carry Farrah out.""Umbra will kill you.""Then I'll kill him first."Nox spoke. "I can mask us. Nothing-touch. Umbra's cold may not see me.""But he'll see us.""Not if we move as sha
