The Rogue Slave
The Rogue Slave
Author: Birdy Rivers

Prolog- Nadia

Terrified doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. The slavers came and tore apart my rogue camp like it was nothing. They herded us like animals, and now we stand in the main city, ready to be auctioned off like cattle.

I may only be ten, but rogue children grow up faster than those who live in packs. Rogues aren’t always evil. Yes, some of us are banished for crimes, but many don’t like the strict life of being in a pack. Many Alpha’s rule their packs with an Iron fist. They tend to be unfair and unjust to lower-ranking pack members. That’s why my parents left their pack. They left before I was born. I was born a rogue, and now I’m about to become a slave.

Rogues, if captured, are sold as slaves to the packs. It’s their cruel way of getting back at us for leaving in the first place. If we won’t be a part of their packs as a member, well, then we will be forced to be slaves if captured. It’s cruel, but rogues have no justice in this world.

The silver chains burn my wrist and ankles. My inner right forearm stings from the R that has been burned onto it to indicate that I’m now a rogue slave. It will heal, but the silver causes it to heal slowly. I will forever be marked as a slave.

We are all being shuffled to the main square, divided between men, women, and children. I haven’t seen my parents since we were branded before we entered the city. I know the chances that I will see them again are slim.

As we are lined up the pack wolves are already lining up to purchase us. My life is over, I know that. I know as a slave I will not have a good life. Pack wolves love to abuse their slaves, or so I’ve been told. I’m not holding out for a nice master or mistress. It’s silly to hope for such things.

I choose not to look at the buyers, eager to purchase a fresh new slave. I stare at my feet hoping that I won’t be bought today. I don’t know how much time passes, but suddenly a pair of black boots in my field of vision. A hand slips under my chin forcing me to look at the person.

My breath hitches as I lay eyes on a teenage wolf about fifteen if I were to guess. His black hair is cut in crew cut style, his midnight blue eyes take me in. He’s dressed nicely in black slacks and a black short-sleeve button-down shirt. He has an authority that I wouldn't expect from someone his age.

“How much is this one?” He asks the slave trader.

“I’ll give you a good deal, Alpha.” The slaver replies.

“I don’t really care for deals, tell me how much she costs.”

I tune out their conversation as they talk about how much my life is worth. I watch the young Alpha pay for me and the slaver takes my chains off. He goes to replace the chains with ropes, but my new master stops him.

I follow my new master to his black SUV. There is a man there who must be the father of my master since they look a lot alike. “Son, I thought you would pick a male and someone older for your personal slave.” The man states, clearly disappointed in his son's choice.

“I wanted her instead.” That is all my master says as he waves his hands to indicate he wants me to get in the SUV. I slide into the car.

“Fine. You always do what you want anyway. Your mother is still shopping. We will take the other pack car home.”

My master nods his head before he slides in next to me and shuts the door. The man sitting in the front starts the SUV and we are moving. The sudden movement has me attempting to grab something. I’ve never been in a vehicle before. Rogues don’t tend to own them.

“You’ll get used to it the sensation. What is your name?”

“Nadia,” I reply.

“Nadia I’m the future of Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. You can call my Alpha or Master.” He informs me.

The Red Moon Pack is from royal blood, from lycan blood. They are fierce and cruel. They are a large pack and they are also wealthy. That’s all I know about them, but I guess I’ll be finding out a lot more about them as I now belong to their future Alpha.
