The Royal Naga Siren
Author: Lady Tamia

Prologue

The Naga king, Calem was going to the meeting place with the Merpeople when he witnessed them kill his son and prince, Nizan. This meeting was called to talk peace between the Naga people and the Merpeople. The Mer people had been killing the Nagas, and the king wanted that to stop. There have been talks from the people that the Mer people were not content being ruled by a weak king.

After that, the killings of the Naga people started. The Nagas are also known as the snake people. The ones with the human upper body and a snake bottom were a peaceful clan. Whereas the Merpeople, the ones with a fish bottom believed in violence like Pagans. The king turned back and hurried to his daughter’s lair with his guard hot on his tail.

“My princess, you must leave, go on land and hide there. The Merpeople have killed your brother and they are coming after us next.” The princess cried after hearing of her brother’s death. She was only ten years old and was close to her brother. The king ignored the princess’s cries, he had no time to comfort her. He took a chest of gold and handed it to his guard, Zane.

“Take this, you will need it on land, they sell everything there, and you need that to survive.” He gave the chest to his guard and then looked at his daughter. He embraced her and then kissed her on the forehead. He broke the hug and then handed his golden trident to her. “Take this, it will be proof of who you are when you come back. Now leave and only come back when the time is right to claim what is yours.” The princess shook her little head not wanting to part with her father.

She had already lost her brother, and she didn’t want to lose her father as well. “Father please, come with us, they will kill you if you stay. Please, father, I don’t want to lose you too.” Cried the little princess painfully. Her father had tears in his eyes. “I can’t go with you, my princess. If I do, then they will not stop looking for us and that will put your life in danger. I already lost your brother because I was naïve thinking the Merpeople will come here to talk.”

King Calem looked back and saw the Merpeople coming their way. He pushed the princess out of the lair from the opposite side. “Be safe, I love you.” Those were the king’s last words to his daughter before the guard pulled her away swimming fast. The Merpeople came in just as they left. The chief’s son Caleb was leading the group. He looked the king in the eye and asked. “Where is your daughter and the trident?”

The king looked at the boy who looked to be thirteen years of age and wondered how he was raised. “This is not over, killing me will not end this and you will never find my daughter.” The king’s words angered Caleb. He looked the king in the eye and stabbed him in the heart with his tail. “I say when it’s over, not you.” He removed his tail from his heart and watched the Naga king fall to the ground and die.

“Find the princess and that trident.” He ordered his people and left going to search for the princess and royal trident from the Naga people that were still alive.
