Three months after the fall of the Void-Mother, the northern winds over the Shadowfang citadel blew clean and sweet, carrying the scent of pine and blooming alpine lilies across the mountain passes.

Where ice and war had once carved deep scars into the land, unified roads now stretched from the high peaks down to the bustling eastern harbors. Mages from the reinstated Astraea Guild worked alongside wolf-warriors from the Shadowfang, Blood Moon, and coastal packs, erecting high beacons powered by the balanced Great Leyline.

Tonight, the capital was alive with the roaring light of a thousand bonfires.

It was the opening night of the Grand Unification Festival—a celebration marking the formal union of the Western Packs and the Eastern Sentinels into a single, seamless empire. Banners of dark obsidian black and vibrant sapphire blue draped from every archway of the keep.

Inside the grand high hall, music, laughter, and the clinking of heavy iron goblets echoed off the stone walls. Feast tables stretched as far as the eye could see, piled high with roasted boar, spiced spiced wines, and mountain fruits.

At the center of the royal dais, sitting side by side upon twin stone thrones carved with intertwined phoenix and wolf motifs, sat Silas and Aria.

Aria wore a sweeping dress of dark velvet trimmed with silver, the obsidian-and-sapphire crown resting lightly upon her dark hair. Her skin radiated a subtle, healthy warmth, and the star-gold cuff of the Sovereign's Tether gleamed against her wrist. Beside her, Silas sat in his dark leather tunic and golden ceremonial shoulder pauldrons. He looked every bit the ruthless Sovereign who had carved an empire out of chaos—yet his golden eyes rarely wandered from the woman at his side.

Elder Garron stepped forward to the front of the dais, raising a heavy silver goblet to the crowded hall.

"To the High-Mage who healed our land!" Garron boomed, his voice carrying easily over the roar of the celebration. "And to the Sovereign who gave us unity! Long live High-Mage Aria and Sovereign Silas!"

"Long live the Alliance!" thousands of voices roared back in unison, slamming their fists and goblets against the long oak tables until the rafters shook.

Silas leaned close to Aria, his arm sliding possessively around her waist, pulling her flush against his side. His lips brushed the shell of her ear, his low, gravelly voice sending a familiar, thrilling spark down her spine.

"Tired of sitting on thrones, my storm?" Silas growled softly, his golden eyes burning with dark, playful heat.

Aria turned her head, looking into his eyes with a knowing smile. Through the Sovereign's Tether, she could feel the deep, steady hum of his pulse—filled with that unshakeable devotion that had anchored her through every battle.

"The party is down there, Sovereign," Aria whispered, her thumb lightly tracing the sharp line of his jaw. "Or are you planning on hiding the High-Mage away in the upper sanctuary?"

Silas’s lips curved into a dangerous smirk. "The upper sanctuary has locked doors, a warm fire, and no elder councilors asking about tax treaties."

Before Aria could reply, Commander Vane approached the dais, bowing deeply before handing Silas a thick leather dossier sealed with the crest of the Far Western Reaches.

"Sovereign," Vane said quietly. "The scouting parties beyond the Sunken Marches have returned. The uncharted lands are vast... and the border lords are eager to lay out the expansion plans for the coming year."

Silas took the dossier, setting it aside on the small stone table without taking his eyes off Aria. He stood up, taking Aria’s hand and lifting her gracefully from her throne.

"The expansion can wait until sunrise, Vane," Silas said, his authoritative voice leaving no room for argument. "Tonight, the realm celebrates."

He led Aria down from the dais, stepping right into the middle of the crowded hall. The crowd parted respectfully, cheering as their Sovereign and High-Mage joined the victory dance around the central hearth fire.

As Silas pulled her close, spinning her gently into the warm light of the blazing hearth, Aria looked up at the stone arches of her home, feeling the unbroken current of the Great Leyline pulsing beneath her feet. They had survived the rogue wilderness, shattered the Spire, crossed the Silent Sea, and destroyed the ancient abyss.

Now, shoulder to shoulder, they held the world in their hands.
