Prologue

On the aisle:

"See, Kitten, you were always supposed to be mine. You're not able to back down now. The period has ended.

She felt a chill go up her spine as Adrian spoke in her ear, breathing sensually. He planted a firm, passionate kiss on her lips, and she forced back a whimper that was about to burst out of her mouth.

"I formally declare you two to be husband and wife. Please bestow blessings upon the newlywed couple."

"STOP! It was supposed to be me who got married! Elina, how dare you even consider stealing my husband? You are a whore!" 

Aspiring physician and college student Elina Saint James marries Adrian Walker, the apparent heir apparent to the illustrious Walker Group of the nation, who happens to be her prospective brother-in-law. She was the man's replacement for the sister Olivia Saint James, whom he had initially been meant to marry. They might have ended their relationship with just one glance, but they had never, ever imagined that they would be forced to marry. Elina makes the life-changing decision to have her first drink on the final day of her freedom, which happens to be the night before the bachelorette party. That evening, in her practically intoxicated state, she encounters a man who makes her resolve to drown her sorrows.

Elina chooses to spend her final day of freedom by going out for her first drink on the night before her marriage, also known as the bachelorette party. That evening, in her almost inebriated state, she encounters a stranger with whom she decides to spend the night after confiding her miseries and decides to drown her sorrows.

After three years:

Elina set foot on the property where she used to reside. She felt the chill in the air as it touched her delicate skin. After a three-year absence, she had come back, and her hazel eyes showed her grief and betrayal. She knows he probably hates her now, and her entire family does too, so she won't be here for long. She was unaware that the person she was thinking about was also thinking about her. She was unaware that her first move in the nation would bring upheaval to not just her own life but also the lives of those who were close to her. Elina set foot on the property where she used to reside.

"Sir, Mrs. Walker has just landed in the city. She is going towards Sinotley Hills."

"Find out everything about her, from where she lives now to everything. I want her to remember everything she has done. I will make her remember me forever."

On the other side of Saint James Residency,

"How dare she come back after ruining my life? I will kill her."

Somewhere far away, a little three year old boy was asking his father about his mom.

"Papa, when will mommy come back to us? I am missing her so much already."

"Don't worry, my son; your mommy and my love will be back to us in no time. I won't let her slip away from us this time. You are mine, Elina, whether you like it or not."

He whispered the last line to himself in a sick way, a smirk making its way onto his face.

Only time can tell who will win and who will lose.
