I'll Dance with You

When she figured that a bigshot came to collect her and her kids, Delta had a feeling she would soon find that strange man looking to keep her as a captive. However, she didn’t expect Wolfram to buy off even the oranges from her humble stall. He was even eating them to attest to their quality.

He then gestured for the woman and the kids to come closer. “I heard some guys already got to you before my team had. Are you scared?”

“Not anymore.” Delta only glanced at the captain before walking her twins to the kitchen island. She lifted Foxley to a seat first before seating Eine next. “Are you going to hunt down the person who escaped? Can you not kill him?”

“Someone escaped?” Wolfram lifted a brow and looked at the captain, who only nodded. The captain was not even ready to report that the leader escaped them easily.

The man just frowned at the captain before bringing his gaze back to the two kids. He pushed the bowl of peeled orange slices to them. “I already finished two oranges. Do you want to help me finish the rest? These are your mom’s oranges, so they’re sweet.”

Foxley didn’t even bother hesitating. He reached out slowly and took one before eating it whole. Seeing that Foxley had done so, Eine just mirrored her brother. Delta didn’t take one for herself, but she chuckled happily upon seeing the smiles on her kids. At least they already forgot about getting scared.

When her eyes landed on Wolfram’s face, her smile somewhat froze. However, she still did a small bow to show gratitude. It was not like she was thrown to a cell or to the basement as soon as they arrived. Moreover, the man didn’t scare her kids. He even offered food to make them feel safer in his space.

As for Wolfram, he just watched the kids and the mother. This woman didn’t look like she was from a bad place, only a poor single mother. However, he still hadn’t forgotten how she produced a stun gun out of nowhere. She was even running from one place to another in the last three years. This woman was surely evading a dangerous person.

“Sir, the clothes you ordered have arrived.” A maid came from a side, and Wolfram nodded at her.

“Delta, when you’re done, you should take them to the bath with you. I’m not going to see them in those old clothes while they’re in my house.” Wolfram saw how the oranges were already eaten. They should be okay with leaving the kitchen now.

Upon hearing a strange directive, Foxley lifted his face to look at Wolfram. He seemed to be studying the face of the man before he turned to his mother. “Mommy, you called him Mr. Colton. You also said you’re Mr. Colton’s wife now, right? Is he our daddy?”

Eine caught up with the idea, too. She lifted her gaze from her palms and looked at Delta as well. There was even a kind of expectant answer in their eyes.

As for the mother, Delta pursed her lips in a smile. She did say that in passing to deter Carolus. Right now, she was even caught lying to her children.

“As much as I like your faces, I’m pretty sure I’m not your dad.” Wolfram attracted the attention of the two kids. “But if you are all right with living in this house for now, I don’t mind sharing with you.”

“But Mommy said we’re moving to follow Daddy…” Eine whispered. She looked back at the white marble kitchen island and liked the idea of having a kitchen island.

“Mr. Colton is actually kind enough to lend his house to us.” Delta hooked her hair behind her ear, making the kids look at her again. “You see, I haven’t secured a new house for us in your daddy’s new city. We might have to stay here with him for a while. Is that okay?”

Foxley turned to Wolfram again, his eyes growing wider as if making Wolfram fall into a spell. “Can you go to the mall with us? Buy us delicious food and big toys?”

Wolfram stayed quiet. He then glanced at Delta first before looking at the kid again. “I can promise delicious food and big toys. Going to the mall is a complicated affair, but we can go if the stars aligned.”

Foxley tilted his head. He barely kept up with what the man said. He then turned to his sister, who looked back at him. “What do you think, Eine?”

“Mommy said we have to stay here before we can get a new house to get to Daddy’s city.” Eine had a small smile on her face as she perused the cold and smooth surface of the kitchen island. She then brought her eyes up to the man. “Mr. Colton, do you knead the dough on this? I want to try!”

“…we can make one and let you knead, but you have to change into better clothes first.” Wolfram glanced at his kitchen island. Was it because of the TV shows they watch?

Delta had a big smile on her face. She then carried Foxley and Eine to get them down from their seats. “Let’s take a bath and make ourselves presentable to Mr. Colton, okay? What does Mommy say before we make food, Eine?”

“Clean hands for a good tummy! Let’s go, Foxley!” Eine giggled before taking her brother’s hand. She ran out of the kitchen to find the bathroom. However, a maid was already waiting outside to give them directions and follow them around.

The mother only watched them leave before eyeing Wolfram again. “…are you going to keep them here with me, too? I don’t have anything to repay you with, Mr. Colton.”

Wolfram turned to Delta again. “You’re a hostage. Why are you repaying me? Go and make yourself presentable, too. Lunch is already served in the dining hall. I’m waiting for you there next.”

“…thank you.” Delta only bowed a little and walked away to find her children. However, without a maid, she had no idea where to go.

As soon as she stepped out of the kitchen, she saw the house that was more majestic than the building from earlier. She wetted her mouth as she looked around, her eyes more pinned on the ceiling and the skylights lighting up the place. The paintings on the walls were all high-quality, and the decor was simple yet exuding grace. This house was nothing like anything she expected to live in.

Then, she looked in the direction of the main lobby. There was a grand piano at the side, and the lounge was set to accommodate the wide space in the middle. The rug on the floor was also rather cozy, making Delta remove her worn-out shoes and walk barefoot on the faux fur.

In an instant, she felt like dancing in circles. The feeling of the cool wind was like the breeze that blew on her out in the fields. Flower fragrances also pervaded the air, coming from the vases at the sides. With the faux fur feeling like the soft grazing grass, Delta deluded herself with the image in her head.

However, she ended up bumping onto someone. His powerful arms held onto her to keep her from falling to the floor. Just like how they met, their bodies were against each other again.

“I figured you’d be lost… but not this lost.” Wolfram only gazed down at the woman in his arms. “Am I spoiling your mood?”

“Not really.” Delta only brought her gaze down and closed her eyes as she leaned against him. “Can we dance, Mr. Colton? I just feel like dancing.”

“I’ll dance with you.” Wolfram swayed with her, feeling an inexplicable warmth inside.
