Mag-log inCHAPTER TWO
ADRIAN’S POV I didn’t know what it was but something attracted me to her. Maybe it was because I hadn’t been with a woman in a long time and was just horny. But I saw beautiful women every day. What about her was different? The tight dress around her thighs and the way she walked, she didn’t even show an ounce of fear while talking to me. She was one of the only women who dared to look me in the eye. I told the manager to get someone to bring another drink for us. I thought he would call the same girl who served us the other time so I didn’t bother to specify who. Another girl came to the table. She seemed less confident than the other one. “What can I get for you, sirs?” She asked, looking at the ground. She couldn’t even look us in the face? I turned to the manager. “Get me the girl who served us before. I don’t like this one.” I sneered. She was taken aback by my words. “Get Isabella to come and take their order.” He turned to her and said. “Yes, sir.” She scrambled away. Isabella. Sounds nice. After about two or three minutes, she walked up the stairs and came to meet us. “What else would you like me to get for you?” She asked softly. “Don Perigon, make sure it’s chilled,” I replied, my eyes fixed on her. “Okay.” She walked away. “Don’t even think about it,” Seb muttered under his breath. “Think about what?” I asked, feigning ignorance even if I knew damn well what he was talking about. “Whatever you think about that girl. We’re here on official business, not to fool around.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Be careful.” He warned. Isabella came back up a few minutes later with a tray in hand. The drink bottle sat in a bucket of ice. She walked slowly and set the tray on the table. She didn't wait for instructions and started pouring out the drink for us. She poured out for Sebastian first and then started pouring for me. She was leaning towards me a bit and I could see the curves of her boobs a bit more. “Careful, Isabella.” I cleared my throat. I didn’t mean to startle her but it seemed I did because she lost focus and spilled the drink on my white shirt. “Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry.” She brought out a napkin from the side of her dress and tried to clean up the spill. She was even more startled when the manager yelled her name. “I told you you had only one more chance and you were done.” He yelled. “I'm so sorry. I didn’t mean to spill the drink. It was an accident.” “You are fired. Leave right away.” He pushed her. “I'm so sorry. It was an accident. You can’t fire me. How am I going to pay my mother's hospital bills and my rent?” She begged. “You should have thought about that before getting distracted.” He called a bouncer to escort her out. She didn’t want to leave so he basically carried her out while she thrashed around in his arms. I sat quietly watching it all unfold. The manager ran to my side. “I'm so sorry, sir.” He bowed. “That will never happen again.” “Let’s go,” I said to Seb. “Send the bill over,” I told the manager. We walked out of the club and headed straight to the house. We had work to do but I couldn’t go with a stained shirt. I changed and immediately got back in the car. We drove to the warehouse. I got down and walked to the door. When I got inside, the men there greeted me. I walked to where the man was tied up. He had already been dealt with enough by my men. He laughed when he saw me. “Took you long enough.” He spat. I held his face. “Who are you working with?” I asked. “No one. I work for me and me alone.” He laughed. “Don't test me.” “You can’t believe it right? You can seem to fathom that someone as small as me would be able to cause all this trouble.” He smirked. “Face it, Adrian. You're no longer the boss. There's someone new in town.” I slapped him across the face. His words angered me. “Kill him. Kill them all.” I yelled. “I don’t want to see any more traces of him. Burn their little hideout down.” “Yes sir,” Matthew said. I and Seb walked out of the building. I wasn’t even planning to make things so long. I knew I wasn’t getting any information from him. It was a waste of time to delay things. “Find me that girl from the club,” I said to Romeo. “Yes, sir.” He nodded. “Adrian,” Seb called. “Save it.” I needed something to relieve my stress. I knew damn well I wasn’t going to get it elsewhere. After about an hour or two, they traced the girl and we went to her house. It didn’t take long. I was absolutely disgusted by her living conditions. I could see why she begged not to be fired. I went into the small building alone. I knocked on the door and after a few seconds, it opened. She was surprised to see me on the other end of the door. “What, what are you doing here?” She stuttered. I walked into the small apartment and took my time to look around. It was a tiny space but at least it was clean. I was intrigued and kept going around and touching stuff. “I'm going to make this really short,” I said. “What? How did you find out where I live? Where are you even here? She asked. “Have sex with me,” I stated flatly. “What?” She was stunned. I walked closer to her. “You obviously need money.” I looked around. “And I need someone to satisfy me tonight. How much do you need? Any amount, I’ll pay.” “You want to pay me to have sex with you?” She asked. I nodded and before I knew it, I felt a hard slap across my face.CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONEISABELLA’S POVI didn’t want to agree to attend the event with Julius as his plus one. Especially after he told me he missed our family and wanted us to get back together. I didn’t want to entertain that idea and make him think there was a chance of us getting back together. I found myself agreeing to go because of one person. Adrian. The only reason I agreed to be Julius’ plus one was because of Adrian. I convinced myself I was doing it to spite him but I knew I was doing it for another reason entirely.I dropped Theo off at Vivian’s place after picking him up from school and went back home to start getting ready for the event. I didn’t know what the event was about. I only knew to dress formally. I’d gone shopping for a new dress after I confirmed it with Julius. The event started at 7pm and by 6:20pm, I was ready and waiting for Julius to pick me up. He texted me and said he had arrived at my building. I didn’t want him to waste his time coming up so I rushed d
CHAPTER SEVENTYADRIAN’S POVI’d been gone for almost two weeks to Germany for a work trip. I wouldn’t lie by saying that something wasn’t wrong. I’d been slacking off from work for a few months now. A part of me attributed that to Theo and Isabella coming into my life. I had to pick myself up and do better.Isabella had been discharged from the hospital but I hadn't gotten to see her yet. I was too focused on getting my business back in order. There was also the problem of Dominic and the other guy from Isabella’s story. We didn’t know if Dominic was dead. There had been no trace of him for more than a month. We decided to put him behind us and focus on work. We still had eyes on the lookout for him in case he decided to show up in the city.As soon as we landed in Chicago from Germany, we went straight to the office. We had a meeting with the board of directors. I was running on two hours of sleep and several cups of coffee. After the meeting with the board which ran longer than usu
CHAPTER SIXTY-NINEISABELLA’S POVAfter almost three weeks of being in the hospital, I was finally cleared to go home. My mother and Jess who were supposed to leave weeks before had stayed until I was out of the hospital. They had to leave eventually. “Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” My mother asked.“No. I’ve made that clear from the very first day you asked.” I answered in annoyance. She sighed. “You have to think reasonably. You’ve been kidnapped twice in your entire life and it’s all because of that man. I get he’s rich and he’s the father of your son but you don't have to be stuck with him. You can leave the child here and come back with us.”“I wasn’t kidnapped. I already told you that. I was attacked in the parking lot of my workplace.” I’d been trying to convince her for the past few weeks that I wasn’t actually kidnapped.“You don’t have to lie to me. I know what actually happened.”“Just drop it, mum. I’m not coming back with you guys.”“This man obviously ca
CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHTISABELLA’S POVIt had been two days since I woke up from my coma. I could barely move but I’d regained my voice, even if I didn’t have the strength to speak. Adrian hadn’t come around since the night he left. I wish he were here. I had a lot of things to say to him that night but I just couldn’t speak. My mother was asking me what happened every second of the day. I told her the version that Adrian told me but she still didn't believe me. She didn’t trust him. She asked me if he had threatened me. She wasn’t a big fan of him since she found out he was the reason I was kidnapped the first time. She had a hard time believing he didn’t have anything to do with it this time either. The only people who had come to see me were my mother, Jess, and Vivian. I hadn’t seen Theo yet and I didn't want to. I didn’t want him to see me looking like this. I hopped on a voice call with him once I could speak though.Jess was taking me on a walk in the garden. And by walk I meant he
CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVENADRIAN’S POVIt had been almost two weeks since Isabella went into a coma. Jeremy had woken up but was still recovering. We held a small funeral for Martin. The Nathaniel mess was behind us and we were moving forward with our collaboration. There were other loose ends to be tied up but we had moved several steps forward from the damage. We still didn't know where Dominic went or who he was. He hadn’t appeared at the club anymore. If it weren’t for Isabella’s limp body lying in a hospital bed, I would have a hard time believing that he ever existed.I hadn’t gone to see Isabella in her comatose state. I attempted to once but her mother was there and she didn’t let me in. Even though I knew I didn’t need her permission to see her, I didn’t push. Her mother was angry at me. I had told them that it was a random attack. Isabella had simply been at the wrong place at the wrong time but they didn’t believe me. They also tried to take Theo back to their apartment but I did
CHAPTER SIXTY SIXADRIAN’S POVI didn’t know what we were going up against but after I received the address from Dominic, I pulled up with every person I had available. When we got to the warehouse, there were no signs of anyone around the warehouse. Surely the fucker would not be stupid enough to pull this off without any backup. He had given us 20 minutes to arrive. Realistically, it would have taken us almost an hour to get there. I got behind the wheel and got there in about 30 minutes, 10 minutes ahead of everybody.I waited for everyone to arrive before we advanced into the warehouse. We all had our guns out but there was nobody on site. We found Jeremy and Martin hanging from the ceiling with their hands tied up. Martin was dead. Jeremy was close to dying.Isabella’s limp body sat on a chair. She showed no sign of life except for the small pulse I felt. After scoping the place out and making sure nobody else was actually there, we carried the three bodies out.Since Martin wa
CHAPTER FIFTYADRIAN’S POVI originally didn’t plan to come with my mum to see Theo and Isabella. After much convincing from her, I finally caved in. My original plan was to go to therapy and get better as much as I could before I got back in contact with Isabella and Theo.I also didn’t plan to as
CHAPTER FORTY-NINE ISABELLA’S POVAlmost two weeks had passed since Julius and I ended things. He had cleared everything he had from the house. Luckily, he left the car with me even though it was in his name. After our last conversation, we never had the chance to talk things through even though I
CHAPTER SEVENISABELLA’S POVI cleaned myself up and we went to meet the doctor in his office. We sat down and he explained the entire thing to us.I wasn’t in any immediate danger but there were too many risks involved in carrying out the surgery. Luckily, I didn’t have to stay in the hospital. I
CHAPTER EIGHTISABELLA’S POVAfter I freshened up, I left the house. With only a tiny purse and my resume in my hand, I was determined to get a job. The first place I walked into was a small bakery. I got in and talked to the manager. She didn’t even take a full look at my resume before handing i
