My blood runs cold. "What did he want?"

"Information about you. Your schedule, your routine, your friends. He wanted to know if you had any family, or any connections outside of Tyler." Her voice drops. "He asked if you'd be missed if you disappeared."

The room tilts. "What did you tell him?"

"Nothing! I told him to go to hell. I told him I was done being his spy." She pulls out her phone, showing me a text message. "He threatened me. Said if I didn't cooperate, he'd make sure my mother's medical bills weren't paid. That I'd lose everything."

I read the message. It's from an unknown number, but the words are clear: Continue to be useful, or your mother dies in pain. Your choice.

"This is why I'm here," Jess says. "I needed to warn you. This man, whoever he is, he's not done with you. He's planning something."

"His name is Mitchell Raven. Tyler's stepbrother."

Her eyes widen. "The guy trying to take over the pack?"

"The same." I pace to the window, thinking. Mitchell is escalating. Fir

His hand comes up, pressing briefly against his heart. Like he needs to hold it in place.Liam stands beside him as Best Man, grinning. Mitchell is there too, in his groomsman position, his face a mask of polite interest. But his eyes are calculating, watching, waiting for me to falter.I start walking.Every step feels like falling forward. The dress moves with me, the fabric whispering against the carpet. The guests blur into background noise. I focus on Tyler at the altar. On his eyes. On the way he's looking at me like I'm the only person in the world.Halfway down the aisle, I stumble slightly. The heel of my shoe catches on the carpet.Tyler moves forward instinctively, like he's going to run to me.But I catch myself. Recover. Keep walking. His hand drops back to his side, but his eyes never leave mine. When I finally reach the altar, Aunt Marie kisses my cheek and whispers, "I'm so proud of you."Then she takes her seat.I hand my bouquet to Carmen. Turn to face Tyler. He exte

The morning of the wedding, I wake up alone.Tyler left a note on his pillow: "Bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony. I'll be waiting at the altar. - T"I stare at the empty side of the bed. We've shared this room for weeks now. Slept tangled together, his arm always finding me in the dark, his breathing steady against my neck. His absence feels wrong. The bed is too big. Too cold.Carmen knocks at seven. "Time to get ready, Miss April."The next four hours blur together in a chaos of preparation.Shower, hair, makeup. A team of people I don't know touching my face, my hair, my skin. Brushes and curlers and products with names I can't pronounce. Someone paints my lips a soft rose. Someone else lines my eyes with precision I could never achieve.I sit in a chair and let them work. Transforming me into someone fit to be Luna.Elena and Maya arrive at eight-thirty with coffee and pastries from a bakery downtown. They're already dressed in their emerald bridesmaid gowns, looking e

After the alterations are marked and measurements taken, Celestine brings out options for the reception dress and going-away outfit. The reception dress is easier. Celestine shows me a champagne-colored gown with a sweetheart neckline and a skirt that moves when I walk. Elegant but less formal than the ceremony dress."Perfect for dancing," Elena says."Can I dance in a wedding dress?" I ask."You'll have to," Maya says. "The first dance is traditional. And the Alpha will want to show you off."Right. The first dance. With Tyler. In front of five hundred people.I'm definitely going to trip."The reception dress works," I say. "What about the going-away outfit?"Celestine shows me a sleek cream pantsuit with a silk blouse. Modern and chic, completely different from the gowns."For leaving the reception," she explains. "Something comfortable for travel.""Where are we going?" I ask. Then realize I have no idea. Tyler hasn't mentioned a honeymoon."The Alpha didn't specify," Celestine s

The boutique is called Celestine's, and it looks like someone dipped a palace in champagne and dropped it downtown.Carmen holds the door for me. "After you, Miss April.""This place looks like it costs more than my college tuition.""Probably does." Carmen's smile is wicked. "Good thing Alpha Tyler is paying."Inside, everything is white and gold. Plush carpet swallows footsteps. Crystal chandeliers drip from the ceiling. Mannequins wear gowns that probably cost more than a car.A woman glides toward us. Tall, elegant, black dress screaming designer. Her hair is pulled back so tight it could be weaponized."You must be Miss West." She extends a perfectly manicured hand. "I'm Celestine. Alpha Raven called ahead. We're honored to dress the future Luna."Her handshake is firm. Professional. But her eyes assess me like I'm some Cinderella."Thank you for fitting me in on short notice," I say."For the Raytheon Pack? We make time." Celestine gestures toward the back. "Your bridesmaids are

When I return to the dining room, Tyler and Liam are deep in discussion about seating charts."April." Tyler looks up. "Liam wants to seat Mitchell in the back. I want him at the front where we can watch him.""Neither of those sound good," I say."That's what I said," Liam mutters."What if we don't invite him at all?"Both men stare at me."He's pack," Liam says carefully. "Not inviting him would be a massive insult. It could be grounds for a formal challenge.""So we invite him and let him sabotage the wedding?""We invite him and out-maneuver him," Tyler says. He's looking at me with something like respect. "You're thinking strategically.""I'm thinking practically. Mitchell wants you to fail. The wedding is the perfect opportunity." I sit back down. "So what if we control the opportunity? Give him a role that keeps him busy and watched."Liam leans forward. "Like what?""Like making him groomsman," I say. The idea crystallizes as I speak. "He's your brother. It would look weird i

Liam arrives exactly at eight with a three-ring binder, two laptops, and the kind of military precision that makes me instantly nervous."Good morning, lovebirds." He sets up at the dining table like he's establishing a command center. "We have fourteen days to plan a wedding that will satisfy the Council, impress the pack, and not trigger an international incident. Let's begin."I'm still in my pajamas. Tyler is drinking coffee like it's the only thing keeping him upright. Neither of us looks ready for this."International incident?" I ask."Mitchell has allies in three neighboring territories. If the wedding looks weak or rushed, they'll use it as evidence that Tyler's position is unstable." Liam opens the first binder. "So we're going big. Cathedral venue, five hundred guests, full pack ceremony followed by human reception."Five hundred people.I think I'm going to be sick."April's turning green," Tyler observes."I'm fine.""You're panicking.""I'm processing." I sit down across
