Chapter 1) A crazy scientist.

Her pov,

I will prove everyone wrong.

I will show them that I am not crazy, but I am a genius. I will show them that they are simply ignorant.

My name is Helena and this is my story.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been lonely, as I didn't have any parents or family members to call my own.

How I came to this world, I didn't even know. All I knew was that, one day, I opened my eyes in the middle of nowhere, and I was alive.

And at that moment, I wasn't a newborn baby or anything. If I am not mistaken, I looked like a ten-year-old kid back then.

Well, I wasn't that sure, since I had no idea about my real age.

My very existence caused me to become a scientist.

It all began with me using myself for different experiments, because I had always had this deep rooted feeling inside of me that I wasn't a normal human being.

Unlike humans who have to eat to survive, me, I could skip eating food or drinking water for a whole week, even a month, and I would look totally fine and healthy.

Regardless of that, after I opened both my eyes in the middle of nowhere that day, I lived on this earth for 30 years afterward.

I should be 40 years or less this year, but I looked like a young adult.

How does that make any sense? I had to hide my real age from the world, especially from those around me.

I never wanted to be used by anyone other than myself as an experiment.

However, those were the only unnatural things I had discovered about myself. But, it was because of myself that I believed that supernatural beings existed. So I began to research for other beings that were like me. My hope was that I would be able to find my parents. My family.

It has been four years. Four long years, and I was so close to finding an answer.

During one of my most important research, I stumbled upon an undiscovered village.

I found the village by pure chance, or should I call it luck?

More like, I fell inside a hole and discovered a hidden ancient village there. There was not a single soul there. That is, there was not a single person inside the village, not even a skeleton.

The place was abandoned and empty of lives.

The discovery was a once in a lifetime discovery for me, so I never told anyone about it, not even my colleagues. Not yet.

I wanted to explore the village first, before I would announce it to the world.

Right now, I was inside my one bedroom apartment.

The whole place was scattered with countless pieces of paper.

Not just any countless pieces of paper, but the research I have done during the past four years. Ignoring my messy living room, I clenched my fists and smirked. “This is it, Helena. You are so close”. I said to myself.

The name, ‘Helena’. I gave the name to myself. It was a reminder to me that I would eventually succeed in bringing the truth and secrets behind my existence to light.

Also, it was last week that I discovered the hidden village. I had to return home because I wanted to prepare myself before exploring the village deeply.

I went over to my couch and took my backpack from there and hung it on my back.

The backpack was filled with different items, like a hand torch, a head torch, ropes, a flare gun, and enough food and water that would last me for a week.

Yes, I could survive without eating food or drinking water for some weeks, but I eat them anyway.

There was this pleasure and happiness in eating delicious food, and I did not want to miss out on that, just because I could survive without them for a long time.

I had many other documents in my backpack also.

Anyway, with a bright smile on my face, I left my apartment and locked the door.

I was dressed for the occasion and was wearing light green trousers with an ash top and a light green jacket. Perfect clothing that looked like an explorer's clothing.

I hesitated for like a second and stared at the door to my apartment. I wasn't going to return home today, as I planned to explore the hidden village until I got the results and answers I wanted to see.

It might take me a week or more. But, if I were lucky again, I might even return home today.

I left the corridor of my apartment and went outside the building.

Standing a few feet away from the building, I stared at the sky and halted.

“Today of all days, why did you have to be cloudy? I can't see the sun because it's covered by the clouds”. I muttered and shook my head at the sky. It was my way of showing the disappointment I had with the sky.

I lowered my head. Either way, nothing was going to stop me from exploring that village today.

Even if a tornado was by my side, I was still going to make my way to the abandoned village. I feel drawn to that village. It was as if the village was trying to tell or show me something very important. And, I must find out what that is before I return home.

I located my yellow jeep, and upon removing the backpack from my back, I tossed it in the jeep's back seat, before I got into the jeep and sat in the driver's seat.

With the jeep's key already in my hand, I started the jeep.

I drove off afterward, with a belief in my mind that I was going to succeed.
