Chapter Forty

After Lani and Vanessa left I headed back upstairs. Walking into my room something felt off.

“Reign was in here,” Nina says sniffing the room.

She takes control and I watch as she follows the scent to the bed. She slides her hand under the pillow and pulls out a letter.

“Lock the door,” I tell her and she runs over closing the door and locking it before jumping back on the bed.

“What does it say?” I ask.

She opens the letter and I push against the veil wanting to read what it says.

‘Dearest Cassidy,

I’m sorry Quintin and I had to leave so suddenly. I felt that it was no longer safe for us to be here. We have gone to find the forth Elemental. With the hunters close by we can’t risk being vulnerable. Please take care of my brother.
