Chapter Twenty-Eight
Cassidy POV
I felt myself coming back up to the veil. Nina either letting me in or letting her guard down. I start to feel the pain she was feeling and I knew something was wrong. Her eyes were closed so I couldn’t see what was going on. I tried to call out to her but she wasn’t responding which was weird. I walk up to the veil and press against it before feeling myself take control and we shift. I struggle as I realise my hands and feet are tied together like I was a hog. There was a bag over my head and I could smell wolfsbane. The ropes must have been coated in it because it was burning into my flesh.

Lani led the way through the tunnel, Vanessa was too afraid to go first for fear of cobwebs. It was so dark down here it was hard to see anything. Cassidy POVI was awoken by a hose spraying wolfsbane at me from below. I cry out in pain as it tears into my skin. Some of it getting into my throat and burning me from the inside as I instinctively swallow. I hear laughter at my pain and I open my eyes for the first time in this room. I look around and notice it’s a big concrete warehouse and I was on top of some sort of raised platform made of concrete. The room was brightly lit by heaps of industrial lamps on the roof. There wasn’t much in the room except two cars and the van I assume to have been brought here in, by the one roller door at the end of the building. Jordan POVWe followed the tyre tracks to the end of the dirt road. It led us through winding back trails through the surrounding bushland no pack had claimed. We shifted back when we reached the end of the road, unsure where to go from here as the trail had ended. It was dark out now; the sun had set about an hour ago.“So where now?” Vanessa asks, looking to me for leadership.“The tracks end here so they can’t be far… right?” Lani asks.I bend down and touch the last visible track before looking around. Cassidy POVI could see Jordan was mind-linking with someone. He walked behind me pulling at my ropes before jumping back, the wolfsbane burning his fingers. Good. I thought to myself. It was the least he deserved. I hear a blade slice through the ropes behind me and my legs drop down. They were sore from being spread out and tied behind me for so long. I was grateful to be able to close my legs. I felt the knife cut through the ropes holding my head and for the first time in however long I’ve been trapped here I could move it. Cassidy POVI packed my clothes into the empty dresser before showering. The feeling of hot water running across my body felt amazing. The scent of pomegranate blending in with the harsh stench of wolfsbane and fuel that hung in the air. I stared at my body as I lathered the soap, noticing indents in my skin where I hadn’t finished healing. My own body felt foreign. Having only washed my arms, I sit on the floor of the shower.
