Skylar POV

“Congratulations class of 2021!”

I did it, I really did it. I didn't think I would have been able to graduate after everything that has been going on. Stormie I'm almost free, just like we had talked about.

I don't have anyone here to say bye to or that I will miss. These last 4 years have been the worst. No one wanted to befriend the charity case and lucky for me, we had online school for a year but unfortunately I had to go back to my parents house due to the dorms being closed. The only person I had in my life is no longer here. My parents are not even here for me after all the shit they did.

My big sister was the only person who cared about me. I don't know how I am supposed to get through the rest of my life without her. I suppose I can attempt to make friends at college but if I am being honest I don't know where to start. I never felt more lonely than when she died.

She was the best sister I could have ever asked for. Even though she was 13 years older than me, she never made me feel like I was a burden or annoying her every time she spent time with me.

~The next day

I had finally finished packing everything from my door and had just gotten the last bit of mail from the advisor. Of course she could not leave this universe without the dramatics. Like seriously scavenger hunt from the dead. Who in the right mind would've planned this before leaving.

I knew you had your secrets, Storm but I didn't expect you to do this. If I didn't love you and had options for the summer I wouldn't do this, but with everything I will try my best to do this one last thing for you.

Along with the letters included two bank card in my name, a plane ticket to Italy, a card with a number to call when I get to Italy and a storage key for the things I need to leave behind.

Guess I'm back packing in Italy. What do I have to lose?

In reality I don't really have a home to go to and any friends to spend the summer with. I checked the cards and holy shit, Storm, where did you get all of this money? A total of $623,000, from both accounts combined is now in my name. Like is this the first secret that you have for me cause how were you able to save this much?

When you passed there was no will and our parents took the little money you had in the bank, which was significantly less than this. Even with the insurance policy that they received was barely one tenth of this amount. I understand why you put it in my name to keep it from them but holy shit Storm.

I was interrupted from my mental crisis by my phone ringing. Of course they would be calling now that they missed my graduation.

“Darling, sorry for missing your event but me and your father ran into some problems yesterday. We are not able to come get you from campus today as well.” My mother said

“ I sort of figured. Don't worry, I already made arrangements for myself.”

“That's good to hear darling. By the way, due to this mishap from yesterday, we had to dig into your savings.”

“You did what? THAT WAS THE MONEY I SAVED FOR COLLEGE THE PAST 4 YEARS!”

“You'll be fine, you got a scholarship for that fancy school of yours. We needed it and since we are your parents that money is basically ours.” she says as she hangs up the phone on me.

These past 4 years I worked after school everyday to be able to buy me everything I needed to survive. It may have not been the most expensive or best quality of things like my peers, but I worked for it. I had to buy my own used barely working car with the money I earned while needing to keep at least a 3.5 GPA to keep my scholarship for this school and the housing options. I was able to save $1,738 just for them to take it from me. It wasn't much but I worked my ass off for that little bit of savings.

They never gave me anything in life except the one thing that they hold over my head which is my life. Stormie was the only person who gave me anything and didn't hold it over my head but I couldn't keep asking her for money over the years. She basically raised me for the 13 years before I got my scholarship, I couldn't keep being a burden on her when she just started living her life. She was 26 years old working 3 jobs to take care of me before I left for boarding school. She deserved to spend her money and time on herself.

I guess even during these 4 years of me not asking her for money she still put money aside for me. My sister was and still is the best thing to happen to me. Don't worry Stormie, I will complete this scavenger and learn your secrets as you wished. I will try not to be mad at you but I also know there is nothing that can make me ever hate you.
