Chapter One Hundred-Fifty Six

Roth had sensed that it was something or someone in the hall that had made Eleanor want to escape the perfectly decent restaurant - he just wanted to know what, or whom, but apparently Eleanor didn’t want him to turn and look.

However, curiosity got the better of him and he turned, despite Eleanor’s resistance. His eyes scanned the hall before him, it was a vast place and Eleanor could have spotted anyone anywhere. Then his eyes found what, or whom, she had caught sight of..

“Tristan,” His whispered was barely audible, but Eleanor was close enough to hear it. She sympathetically rubbed her hand over her arm, “So, what do you say about going somewhere else to eat now?”

But Roth’s eyebrows were knitted in confusion, Eleanor knew he wasn’t paying attention to her at all anymore, and the next words out of Roth’s mouth confirmed it, “Who is the man with him?”
