Chapter One Hundred-Fifty Seven

As they reached their table, Roth pulled out a chair for Eleanor that was just behind Tristan such that her back would be to their table and Roth’s chair would be facing it directly, but Eleanor knew how that would go.

So, while Roth was pulling out a chair for her, she went across the table and sat on the chair on the other end. As Roth raised his eyebrows at her, looking taken aback, she batted her eyelashes at him in innocence, then clasped her hand on her mouth in fake horror, “Oh, I am sorry, but it’s okay, there’s a better view from that anyway.

And sure enough there was, because their table was pressed up in the corner such that Roth’s chair was now facing a glass wall as well as had one on his left, while Eleanor’s back was towards the glass wall. But that was not the view Roth had stayed for.

Yet he sulkily took his seat before her. As she straightened up after placing her handbag on the floor with a smile, he said something that she wasn’t expecting, “How is he?”
