"Grandpa, you don't have to worry about that. I'll compensate her for her troubles," Tobias said as he gazed at Lucy coldly.

Howard replied, "Even if you provide compensation, I still have to show my appreciation. Young lady, please give me your contact number. I'll treat you to a meal tomorrow."

Lucy didn't want to have anything to do with Tobias anymore, but she found it hard to turn down Howard's enthusiastic invitation.

So, she said, "Thank you for the offer, sir. This is my number. I'll be taking my leave now. I have some business to tend to."

"Alright. See you tomorrow."

Lucy turned around and left.

"Grandpa, you should rest for now. I'll be stepping away for a bit." Tobias wanted to question Lucy about what she had just said.

As he was about to leave, Howard sensed what Tobias wanted to do. He stopped Tobias and said, "Stop right there. You're going to threaten that young lady, aren't you?"

"Grandpa?" Tobias looked at Howard with a puzzled expression.

Howard grunted. "I heard everything the two of you said just now. You little bastard! How could you bully a woman like that?"

Tobias replied, "Grandpa, she's no ordinary woman. You shouldn't meet with her before I find out why she's trying to get close to us."

"I don't care about her motive. You stole her virginity, and that's on you. You've been with Anna for three years, but you've never made a move on her. If that young lady is pregnant, you have to marry her so I can have a great-grandson."

"Grandpa, I will never marry a woman I don't love," Tobias said meekly.

Howard said domineeringly, "As long as I'm still your grandpa, you have to listen to me. I'll handle this matter for you."

Tobias' expression became sullen. He hadn't used any protection the night before, but he would never allow Lucy to be pregnant with his child!

"Grandpa, you're unwell. You should rest."

After Tobias was done speaking with Howard, he contacted Finn. He instructed Finn to find Lucy and make her take contraceptive pills.

Lucy was walking out of the hospital when a van suddenly pulled up in front of her. Two men jumped out of the van and dragged her inside.

"Hey, what are you doing? Is this a kidnapping?"

"Ms. Everhart, please settle down. My boss wants you to take this pill. Please cooperate." A man in a suit was sitting next to her. He took out a pack of contraceptive pills.

Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Is your employer Tobias Ripley?"

"That's right."

Lucy snorted. "Alright. I'll do it."

She immediately swallowed the pill right before Finn's eyes. Finn saw that she was very cooperative, so he let her go.

Lucy didn't have a home to return to, so she could only go to a hotel. She was about to turn in for the day when her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Sienna Lewis, Lucy's best friend.

"Hello, Sienna. What's wrong?"

"Lucy, I heard about what happened with the Everharts. Why don't you come to live with me? My husband is out on a business trip at the moment."

"No need for that. I'm staying at a hotel for now. Come and look at some housing units with me if you have time tomorrow."

"Sure. The Everharts failed to see how great you are! They will surely regret their decision some day."

Lucy sneered. She was utterly disappointed by the Everharts and no longer cared about them.

"Alright, I'm tired. I'll hang up now."

"Bye."

Lucy thought about everything that had happened to her that day. Now that she knew she wasn't part of the Everhart family, she started to wonder who her real parents could be and where they were.

She suddenly felt a pain in her waist. Her anger flared when she thought about Tobias. Luckily, she had taken the contraceptive pills. She could only hope that their paths never crossed again.

Back in the hospital, Howard's assistant, Dom Hardy, reported back to him.

"Mr. Ripley Senior, it is as you expected. Mr. Ripley had his people feed Ms. Everhart some contraceptive pills.

"They had no idea we swapped out all of the contraceptive pills with vitamins. The chances of Ms. Everhart getting pregnant will be way higher once 72 hours have passed."

Howard replied, "Send some people to protect her in secret. Don't let anything bad happen to her. She's carrying the Ripley family's heir."
