Chapter 5

Lucy was clearly shocked. "Why are you everywhere? Are you this man's grandson?"

Tobias looked at her icily and sneered. "You're the one who just shows up wherever I go. You're even scheming against my grandpa to get to me?"

Lucy looked at him incredulously. "Is that how you show gratitude? I saved your grandfather. You didn't even thank me, and now you're accusing me of doing something I didn't do?"

Tobias narrowed his eyes. "How could there be such a coincidence? Why did you help my grandpa and not someone else?"

Lucy was perplexed. "So, you're saying I shouldn't have helped?"

Tobias sneered. "Is it really fate that we've met so many times in a single day, or is it all part of your plan?"

Lucy broke out into an angry laugh. "Grow a brain, you dumbass!"

Tobias looked at her with scrutiny as he walked toward her. "Woman, my enemies don't live to tell the tale of their encounters with me."

He exuded a chilling and commanding air, and his gaze was deep and mysterious. Lucy couldn't help but move back as he advanced toward her. She was soon pressed against the wall.

"What are you doing?"

She was intimidated by his domineering presence. It didn't seem like something a male prostitute could possess. Besides, she wasn't infected with an STD either. So, she was very confused.

Tobias forced her to meet his gaze. "Spit it out. Who sent you to approach me?"

They were in such close proximity that they could feel each other's breaths. Although they were glaring at each other, the atmosphere seemed a little steamy.

Lucy replied, "What are you talking about? Why would I want to approach you?"

Tobias sneered. "Tell me the truth!"

He suddenly placed his hands on the wall and leaned in to intimidate Lucy further. It seemed like he would punish her if she didn't tell the truth.

"You…"

Lucy sensed that acting tough wouldn't work with Tobias. So, she decided to take a softer approach.

"Are you crazy? You took my virginity and accused me of approaching you intentionally. How… How can you be such a bully?"

Tears welled up in her eyes as she said that. Her aggrieved expression was very convincing.

Tobias had a sullen expression, but he felt bad for her when he looked at her sad expression. So, he took a couple of steps back.

Lucy instantly felt like she could breathe better.

"Get out!"

Lucy felt like Tobias was a madman. She chuckled slightly and said, "Bye. I'll be on my way."

"Hold on."

"Yes?"

Tobias took out a check. "Take this money. It's compensation for you. You deserve it."

Lucy was speechless. She didn't want the money.

"Not enough for you?"

"No…" She didn't want to take the money because it would make her seem like a prostitute.

Suddenly, a coughing sound came from the bed. "Tobias…"

"Grandpa." Tobias stuffed the check into Lucy's hand and turned around to look at his grandfather, Howard Ripley.

Lucy sighed. Then, she placed the check on the nightstand by the bed.

As she was about to leave, Howard looked at her and said, "Young lady, I'm Howard Ripley. Thank you for helping me just now."

Lucy smiled calmly. "It's nothing. You don't have to thank me."

Tobias turned to glare at her. She noticed his gaze and rolled her eyes at him.

She said, "Sir, rest well. I'll be going home now."

"Young lady, I'm really grateful to you. If you don't mind, please come stay at my house for a few days, and let me thank you properly."

"What? I…" Lucy looked at Tobias with a puzzled expression. He gave her a warning look. She felt a chill down her spine and chuckled dryly. "Sir, you don't have to thank me. I'll leave you two alone. Bye."

Howard had actually been conscious for quite some time and heard their argument. He had figured out what had happened between Tobias and Lucy.

He wanted to get close to Lucy because he would have a great-grandson if she were pregnant.

When he saw that she was leaving, he clutched his chest and said, "Oh, why is my life full of hardships? I can't even get the chance to thank my savior properly. Tobias, help me make her stay…"
