Ainara was sipping iced tea while waiting for her.

“Sorry, sobrang traffic. I tried to be here as fast as I can.”

Ainara don’t feel like eating anything yet, but she would order a salad later. They do call each other at least once a month pero iba pa rin kapag personal silang magkasama.

“It’s okay. I didn’t wait long.”

Marge took a sip of her drink. “So, how was last night?”

“Did you know they were dating?”

Marge looked constipated. “Sa totoo lang, nakita ko sila minsan magkasama but I thought nothing of it. I mean, your family knew each other since forever.”

“And you didn’t tell me?”

“Ano naman ang sasabihin ko? I didn’t think it was nothing new until I heard about the engagement.”

Napasandal si Ainara sa backrest.

“I can’t believe this.”

Marge felt guilty.

“Sorry na. Huwag ka na magtampo. I don’t you don’t like secrets but— uhm, you’re going to be a Ninang again soon.”

“You’re pregnant?!”

“Ssh! Kung maka-you’re pregnant ka naman. Natural lang na magbuntis ako kasi may asawa akong tao. Sheesh!” Napakamot si Marge sa leeg. “Kaya huwag ka na magtampo ah. Bawal sumama ang loob ng preggy.” Marge grinned at Ainara and all the latter could do was roll her eyes— and at the same time, smile.

“Ayan!

“Turon?” Tumango si Marge. “Fine. I don’t eat that. Sana may carioca rin.”

“Hahanap tayo n’yan.”

Ainara paled.

“Unless boring ang sex life niya.” All work and no play makes the— Hoy, bakit gan’yan ang hitsura mo?”

May tumikhim sa likod ni Marge. “You’re Marge, right?”

Right in front of her is none other than Andres.

Pinili n’yang ngumiti at nagkunwaring wala s’yang sinabi tungkol sa lalaki.

“Hello, Andres. Mabuti natatandaan mo pa ako? Minsan mo lang akong nakita noong high school.”

“I don’t forget faces.”

“Talaga? That’s good.

“Would you like to join us?” tanong ni Marge kay Andres.

“Are you with someone? Because you know, may dalawa pa kaming libreng silya. Kasyang kasya tayong tatlo.” Marge gave him a sweet smile.

For some reason, Andres smiled a little while looking at Ainara.

Ainara was lost for words, but hoped that Andres would say no. Paano s’ya makikipag-usap kay Marge nang malaya kung naroon si Andres?

“I would love to, but maybe some other time. I’m here with Connie. Enjoy your lunch.”

“Did you take the pills this morning?” tanong ni Andres na nakatutok ang mga mata kay Ainara.

Marge’s eyes went wide.

“I did.”

“Good. We’ll talk soon.”

When Andres left to take his seat, doon pa lang nakahinga nang maluwag si Ainara.

“Girl, what was that about? And what pill?”

“Did you sleep with him?” She gasped! “Was he referring to morning-after pill?” “Oh my God! He’s going to be your—“

“Don’t. Say. It.”

She loves Ainara like her own sister, pero sa nangyayari ngayon— baka maging komplikado ang tahimik na buhay nito.

“But what if the pill doesn’t work? At mabuntis ka, tapos—“

Ainara rolled her eyes. Leave it to Marge to complicate things and think ahead.

“Look, I did not sleep with him so I can’t get pregnant. And correction, the pill he was referring to was two acetaminophens for my hangover. I drank too much wine last night.

“So you’re not pregnant? Oh, thank God!” “You’re laughing now, but if you were in my place, iisipin mo rin ang iniisip ko kanina. My goodness!

But as I was saying, ‘that’ man is a complete package.

Just like she planned, she ordered salad.

They were in the middle of lunch when she brought up Andres’ view on marriage.

“I don’t believe it.

“No, really. I don’t think he’s the marrying kind.

“Talaga ba? Sabagay, mas in ngayon ‘yong late mag-asawa. I mean, didn’t you say you found him attrac—“

“Marge!” saway niya rito at baka may makarinig.

“Yes, I know it was a long time ago. You got over it really quickly too if I remembered correctly.” Pasulimpat s’ya nitong tiningnan. “Akala ko nga s’ya ang magiging first boyfriend mo.

Marge can’t stand Mateo Villanueva. Ainara met him during one of her summer classes before she moved to New York to study. At the time, Ainara thought he was a catch.

“That’s ridiculous, Marge. If you think about it, I don’t even think I exist in his world.”

You won’t walk the rest of your days thinking what could have been? It’s the absolute worst. But anyway, I guess wala na ‘yong ilusyon ko na ‘yon kasi magiging stepbrother mo na s’ya. Saklap!”

They are not even friends.

And it’s a connection she doesn’t even want.

Not with those lustful dreams on most nights.

Not with those sinful thoughts she tries to ignore but keeps popping up.

But Agustin-Bernardino & Co. is important to her.

Because that is not true— alam niyang matalino s’ya at may ibubuga sa larangan ng Architecture. And she’s going to prove that, or die trying.

Hi everyone! First time ko pong sumulat ng ganitong tema. Gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa lahat ng mga readers (old and new) na nag-umpisang magbasa at sumuporta sa kwentong ito. I will try to keep it as light as possible with a mix of drama and secrets. Happy reading! xx

  • The Sin of Loving You   The End is Only the Beginning

The hospital room was quiet, the faint hum of machines steady as Celia stirred awake. Ainara sat beside her, her eyes swollen from sleepless nights, her heart heavy with questions that had haunted her for years.“Ma,” Ainara whispered, her voice trembling. “Tell me the truth. Who is my real father?”Celia’s eyes glistened, her hand reaching weakly for her daughter’s. “His name was Luis Ramirez,” she said softly, her voice breaking. “I met him at a bar one night. I was young, reckless, and lonely. It was only one night… but I ended up pregnant with you.”Ainara’s breath caught, her chest tightening. “Luis Ramirez…” The name felt foreign, yet it carried the weight of her identity. “I want to meet him.”Celia’s tears spilled, her voice trembling. “I’m sorry, anak. I never told you because I was ashamed. Ayaw kong maging katulad mo ako. He was poor, a bartender who worked nights to survive. I didn’t even know if he would have wanted a child. But you… you were my miracle. Hindi ko pinagsis

  • The Sin of Loving You   Broken Hearts & New Beginnings

The hospital corridor was dim, the hum of machines echoing faintly from nearby rooms. Andres paced outside Ainara’s ward, his chest tight, his mind racing. Every second felt like an eternity until the door finally opened and the doctor stepped out, clipboard in hand. “Mr. Bernardino,” the doctor began, his tone calm but serious. “Your wife lost consciousness due to extreme stress. The last several days have taken a toll on her—Her blood pressure was high and from the looks of it, she was overwhelmed.” Tumikhim ito. “But there’s also another reason.” Andres froze, his breath caught in his throat. “Another reason?” The doctor’s eyes softened. “She’s pregnant. About seven to eight weeks.” For a moment, Andres couldn’t move. The words hung in the air, surreal, impossible. Then his chest swelled, his he

  • The Sin of Loving You   Great Personality

The boardroom was suffocating with silence. Celia’s breathing grew shallow, her chest rising and falling in panic. Her hands trembled against the table, her eyes darting between Andres and Ainara, cornered by the truth she had fought to bury. “No…” she whispered, clutching her chest. “Hindi ko kaya.” Naiiling si Celia. “I can’t… I can’t say it…” Her voice cracked, her body convulsed. Panic surged through her veins, the weight of secrets pressing down until her strength gave way. Celia’s face drained of color, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed against her chair. “Ma!” Ainara screamed, rushing to her side. Santino leapt forward, catching her before she hit the floor. Jaime shouted for help, his voice echoing through the boardroom. Chaos erupted. Chairs scraped, papers scattered, voices rose in panic. The doors burst open as aides and guards rushed in. “Call an ambulance!” Jaime barked, his voice trembling with fear. Within minutes, Celia was lifted onto a stretcher, her body l

  • The Sin of Loving You   When Truth & Lies Collide

"I only sold a little." Mr. Domingo muttered.Pero narinig 'yon ni Andres. He leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable, but the steel in his tone cut through the room. “You sold your shares, Mr. Domingo. Not just a little — almost all of them. To me."Ponce’s face darkened, fury simmering beneath his composure. “You—” His voice cracked, his arrogance slipping. “You bought them? You bought his shares?” Mr. Domingo lowered his gaze, shame etched across his features. “I was offered three times the value, Ponce. I couldn’t say no.”Andres’ voice was calm, deliberate. “Add that to the shares I bought from Jaime and Celia, and suddenly your thirty percent doesn’t look so powerful anymore. The vote for CEO will not be yours to claim.”The silence was deafening. Ponce’s smirk was gone, replaced by a storm brewing in his eyes. Santino’s fists clenched, his anger boiling over — not just at Andres for entangling A

  • The Sin of Loving You   Uninvited

A few days later, the boardroom of the Del Carmen Empire was cloaked in silence, the air heavy with anticipation. The long mahogany table gleamed under the lights, but the atmosphere was anything but polished. At one end sat Ponce Natividad, his posture relaxed, his smile sharp, like a predator waiting for the kill. Beside him, Mr. Domingo adjusted his glasses, his expression unreadable, though his eyes flickered with unease.Across the table, Jaime sat stiff, his jaw tight, his gaze locked on Ponce. Celia was beside him, pale but composed, her hands folded tightly as if holding herself together. Santino leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his anger simmering just beneath the surface. The room felt incomplete, a shadow of tension lingering over the empty seat that only Ainara knew belonged to Andres.Ponce’s voice broke the silence, smooth and cutting. “Well, it seems the Del Carmen Empire is crumbling faster than I anticipated. Investors are nervous. Rumors are spreading. And unle

  • The Sin of Loving You    Tension Like a Blade

Celia’s lips parted, but before she could speak, the door creaked open. Jaime stood there, his face pale, his eyes heavy with something more than judgment.“Enough,” Jaime said quietly, his gaze shifting between mother and daughter. Ainara tried to speak but Jaime raised his hand to stop her from talking. “I said enough.” Jaime’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. He stepped fully into the study, his presence commanding, his eyes narrowing at Ainara.“You shouldn’t be raising your voice at your mother,” Jaime said firmly. “Celia is sick. She doesn’t need this stress, this anger. You should be protecting her, not making her suffer.”Ainara’s lips trembled, her tears spilling faster. Ano ba ang ikakatwiran n'ya? Mali s'ya. Maling mali. And now it's going to cost her the family she treasured and the company Joaquin built for many years... his legacy going down the drain because she made a mistake. Before she could answer, the door creaked open again. Santino shuffled in, still
