Chapter Seven.

Chapter Seven.

If I told Rodger that I was embarrassed of being seen walk out of his beat up truck, he'd probably think that I'm being stupid and also think that I'm hating his 'fiona' truck because there's a human girl I wanted to impress. Which is true.

The instant his truck pulled up in front of the school, I cringed.

Seth grabs my shoulder from the back seat and said "have a good time, bro! Don't forget to save some for me"

"Save what for you, dumbass?" Rodger asked, looking back to see Seth just like I did.

"You know...the human girls" he replied cluelessly. "What you two lookin' at me for?"

Rodger looks back to the school, ignoring Seth and said "it'll be really fun to go in there and take four girls home with me"

Shooting a quick glance at him, I replied "not the school, Rodger"

"Chill man," he turned a smirk at me "I think you found a girl and you're not telling us. And my big hunch is that she goes to this school"

"Exactly!" Seth joins in.

"I've never seen you so worked up about school for the past years," Rodger continued, then turned to look at the school again "why do we even need to hide our powers just to blend in with these stupid humans? I mean, we can just walk in there now and finish them off, I'm so famished"

"Rodger, if we go on a killing spree everytime, we'd be attracting more attention and not to mention, dangers to ourselves" I reminded him.

"Dangers? You mean Jasper and...."

Seth gasps, clamping a palm over Rodger's mouth to shut him up. "Please don't mention their names. Mom would kill you"

Roger pushes him off and continued "I'm tired of running, Harden. I'm tired of not drinking blood to my satisfaction, I'm tired of hiding my powers"

I sighed, shaking my head slowly as I picked up my backpack and flung it over my shoulder "You need to ease yourself, man"

"Well how's it going for you? Still not drinking human blood" he said with a smirk.

"That's not your business, Rodger" I replied before going off his truck and shutting the door while watching the big mocking smile on his face.

"Don't forget to save some for me!" Seth yelled as the truck pulled out of the school premises.

I turned to the school and matched into the first hallway. Halfway through it, I caught the familiar scent. It stung my nostrils and caused my heart to beat faster. Snapping my head towards the direction where the scent came from, I listened and heard her fine, gentle heartbeats.

Then I heard her sonorous voice, 'what? Missed me already?'

I felt my limb twitch, urging me to find her. I took the corner and came across the classroom where Alessia was. I pushed the door open before I could stop myself. I let myself in and glanced over to the table where Alessia sat. The class teacher turns to me and I pulled my gaze away before she saw me, to the teacher.

"How may I help you?" He asked but I wasn't paying attention.

I felt Alessia's eyes on me and the rhythmic beat of her heart soothed me so much, called me. I didn't realize when I started smiling.

"I'm the new student," I replied him, my heart fluttering at the thought of Alessia watching me from the back "I'm having your class"

I couldn't help it. I turned my face towards the class and caught her eyes. She stared back before slowly smiling at me. I smiled back, restraining my hand from waving at her.

"Oh you're the new guy," Mr. James said, turning to the class "can I get your full attention class?"

The students looked up but all I saw was Alessia, sitting there and staring right back at me. She made my heart flutter strangely.

"Class, I want you to meet the newest student," Mr. James called out. "Would you like to introduce yourself?"

I nodded, only taking my eyes off her once to shift more into the class. Then I'm holding her gaze again.

"I'm Harden Mcalester. I just got here yesterday. It's nice to meet you guys"

The class slowly erupted in a fit of mumurs, their whispers and inner thoughts invading my ears.

'oh my gosh, he's handsome' 'i know right?' 'where does he live?' 'he is so my type' 'do you think he likes blonds?' 'is that the Harden you were talking about?'

The last statement was made by the girl seated next to Alessia, picking up my interest. Alessia turns to her, leaning closer to her ears to whisper.

'yes, isn't he hot?' Alessia replied, causing me to smile. I thought I stopped breathing.

"Alright, that's enough class!" Mr. James called out, before the class quieted down again. Turning back to me, he said "alright, you can take that seat at the back" he pointed.

I nodded before walking to the seat in front of Alessia's table.

"So," Mr. James said, writing on the chalkboard "we're still in Crystalization of....."

Thirty minutes later, the bell was ringing for the end of class. I turned around in my seat to meet face to face with Alessia. She was in the process of hanging her bag on her shoulder.

"Hey" she said, a small smile forming on her lips.

"Hi" I smiled back.

"So we meet again"she said.

I could hear her heart beat wildly and oddly enough, it drove me on edge.

"I had a feeling we were gonna be seeing more often" I replied and she smiled. How does she always do that thing with her lips?

"Hi" the girl seated beside her said, her hand extended across the table to me "I'm Ashley Peters, Alessia's friend"

"Yeah, hi," I took her hand "it's nice to meet you"

Shaking her hands, I could feel almost everything about her. She's a really timid person, a brainiac, a super nice and completely sweet person who has little confidence about herself.

"Waw," she chuckled as she pulls her hand away "that's some really cold hands you got there"

"Thanks. I.....ah...I'm a really cold person" I replied, concerned about my own cold hands. Being a vampire, that's the one thing we could never hide from humans. But Alessia never felt the cold hands the other day at the quarter. Or maybe she didn't care enough.

"Hey ah....wanna hang out?" Alessia asks me, standing up from her seat.

"Yeah," I replied, standing up myself.

"Okay, I guess I'll see you guys later. I've got class" Ashley said as she stood up too.

We both watched her walk out before we headed out ourselves.

"So," I spoke as we got into the busy hallway "no class?"

She turns to look at me, a smile on her lips "I do. Physics. But I hate it so I'm sitting this one out. What about you?"

"Well I haven't really looked into my timetable, so....." I scratched a brow.

She stops, amused with what I'd just said. She scoffs and laughs before replying "you're not a complete school person, are you?"

I smiled back, following her through a narrow hall  before taking the stairs. "What can I say? School can be really tiring"

"You say that like you've been going to highschool for a hundred years when we're actually just in senior year"

I watched her walk up the stairs, her voice and laughter resounding in my ears, her heartbeats loud enough to deafen an average ear, her blood running through every vein in her neck. As we got up the stairs and I fell beside her, I felt my teeth poke my lips. I craved for her and it suddenly scared me. Drinking a human blood is an off limits for me. But here's a woman I want to much, she ignited fires inside me.

She comes to a stop besides the floor to ceiling window in a room barely full of people. It was quiet and a few students sat on couches, reading. In front of the window is a fluffy pink seat.

She pulls out her bag and dumps it on it, going down herself to sit down on the fluffy couch.

"This is where I always come when I want a quiet time"

"This some kind of library or something?" I asked, pulling my back and sitting next to her.

"Or something," she chuckles, turning to face me "it's not a library. It's just a spot we students discovered. We come here when we want some quiet time. I personally love coming here all the time"

"So what you're telling me is that you always miss classes" I said jokingly.

She laughs loudly and replied "not how you put it. I just come here when I need some time off.....from everything..."

"Is your life always so hectic that you need that much quiet time?"

She continues to stare at me, her once smiling face changing slowly into a stoic glance. And I knew immediately what was wrong with her. I saw sadness in her eyes and as she looked away, I felt my heart skip a fast beat.

"Yeah, you're right," she replies "but that's a talk for another time. I don't wanna sound like an attention seeker when we just met"

"You can tell me, I don't mind" I replied, wishing I could touch her soft face and comfort her.

"That's alright, Harden" she replied with a smile.

I looked back up, silence building up.

'oh my gosh, what am I gonna talk about? What to talk about now?' I heard her thoughts. She was nervous.

"So where's your boyfriend?" I asked, turning back to her.

"We broke up" she replied less to my dismay.

"What? He broke up with......"

"I broke up with him" she cuts me off.

"Well....are you okay?"

She laughs "please, Harden. I'm more than okay"

"If I'm to theraprize you right now, I'd say..."I squinted my eyes in a thinking manner ".....you never loved him"

She laughs "you may be right"

"So why'd you start going out with him?" For a second I thought I'd gone over board for asking that and I'd asked way too much but she replied nevertheless.

"We.....our parents wants us to be together..."

"Sounds like an arranged..... relationship, and you'd probably be required to marry him in the future. Does your families know about this break up?"

"No, my mom would probably kill me before I finish telling her"

"Well that's not fair," I pouted, leaning back against the chair's backrest and folding my arms across my chest "everyone should have the right to choose whoever they wanna be with"

"What about you?"

Making one of my thinking silly faces, I replied "well......I haven't really found the one. Maybe I found her already, maybe I'll find her in the next millennium"

She laughs much to my satisfaction. I watched her as she slowly placed a palm over her mouth as she laughed hard. She was adorable on so many levels. I felt my heartbeat accelerate as my eyes fell down to the hollow line in her neck. I watched and listened to it's rhythmic beating. So much life. It's like I could see her blood moving, circulating there.

"Harden" I heard a faint voice call me.

"Harden?" A little louder now.

Blood....

"Harden" I jerked at the feel of her hand on mine, snapping me out of my thoughts and looking back at Alessia's worried eyes as they stared back at me "are you okay?"

Just then, I felt a swift movement behind me. Someone was going to hit me from behind and if I dodged, they would be hitting Alessia so I stayed put. Them I felt a huge impact from a fist at the back of my head, pushing me off the couch and onto the floor.

"Patrick!" I heard Alessia's scream.

Before I could regain my balance, I felt his hands pulling me up by the collars of my shirt, dragging me up against the wall. He was breathing heavily, his eyes glaring daggers at me. I wanted to laugh at his stupidity but it would only make things worse and it's best not to attract so much bad attentions to myself if I didn't wanna get kicked out of the school on my second day. He's a rich asshole, he'll never get kicked out.

"What the hell do you think you're doing huh?" He growled angrily at me.

"Patrick, stop this right now!" Alessia continued to yell on the background.

The few students now stood watching.

He lifts a hand up and moulded it into a fist. Before he could connect it to my face, I moved my head a bit to the side and his hand went crashing into the wall. I heard him sunk in a painful breath. Not willing to show his pain, he aimed at my face again and I ducked this time, pushing him back.

I applied little effort and he went crashing back until he hit one of his friends who stood watching.

He pushes himself back and starts walking towards me. "Don't you fucking talk to her!" He screamed, swinging his hands at me. I dodged and ducked his aimless attempts to strike me until he went colliding into the wall.

'oh my God, how is he doing that?'

'is that even possible?'

I started to hear the whispers directed to me from the students.

I should stop. I'm losing it. I couldn't afford to go Vampire super abilities here and.....

Wham! I felt his punch on my stomach. That actually hurt alot. He sent me falling back till I hit the floor. I tried to sit up, felt his fast strides as he ran towards me.
