Chapter 10

Brandon’s longtime friend Peter Harrison, of them, had known each other since they were five years old.

Peter is the complete opposite of Brandon. If Brandon is a cold, tough person who does not like to interact with others, then Peter is a warm, smiling, active, and mischievous person.

Since being close friends, Peter has seen Brandon show his emotions, even anger at someone, which is also very rare.

Except for Brandon’s mother, Brandon always quarreled with her. Between the two of them, there was a huge conflict. After each quarrel, Brandon’s temper was often terrible, and the relationship between mother and daughter became more and more broken.

Even Peter, Brandon’s childhood friend, had only had a few occasions to see Brandon’s irritable temper. But after Anna transferred into this class, Brandon’s tantrums increased more and more often.

‘Sounds interesting!’ thought Peter.

Break time had just arrived, and while Brandon was playing basketball in the schoolyard with the other students, Peter approached Anna’s desk.

He pulled up a chair and sat down, facing Anna.

“Hey, Ann!”

“Huh? Excuse me?” Anna saw someone calling her name and looked up.

Oh, isn’t this the guy at the table in front of Brandon? This guy’s name is Peter, right?

Peter saw Anna looking at him. It was funny. He crossed his arms across his chest, lowered his shoulders, and smiled in return.

“He means nothing. You don’t care!” Peter gets to the point. “I mean, Brandon sits next to her.” Anna didn’t seem to understand who Peter was talking about, so he added.

Anna was doing her French homework. When she heard Peter’s words, she stopped her pen, closed her books, and looked at him with interest.

“Are you friend with Brandon?”

“Right.” Peter nodded.

“So you must be very familiar with his personality, right?” Anna continued to ask.

“Not very well understood. His personality is very difficult to understand. Brandon shows his emotions.” Peter shrugs, “But he’s been seeming a bit more angry than usual these days, so don’t mind his words.”

Finished speaking, his eyes full of meaning, looking at Anna.

Brandon is Peter's best friend and he knows that Brandon is attractive to women. There are many beautiful girls around Brandon, even a girl who is twice as beautiful as Anna. But Brandon’s unusual expression towards Anna made Peter notice her a little more than the other girls, perhaps…

Anna looked at Peter sitting and talking to her. She couldn’t help but be surprised.

‘Can a mean guy like Brandon get a friend as understanding as Peter?’

“I don’t care what Brandon says. I’m used to it, anyway.” Anna looked helpless. “It’s just that Brandon is quite popular with women, isn’t he? I find him to have some rather annoying fans!”

When Anna finished speaking, she remembered the scene she was locked in the toilet the other day. To this day, she is still haunted by nightmares.

Anna didn’t like Brandon at all, and the way he indirectly annoys her further makes her not have a good impression of Brandon, even though he’s completely oblivious to it.

Right now, Anna just wants to stay out of trouble as much as possible, and according to everyone she knows, the guy Brandon is the most annoying.

“Uh, that’s right. There are some people who are annoying.” Peter nodded, thinking immediately of Jessica, the queen of trouble. When the three of them were in middle school, Jessica brought candy to Brandon’s class every day, and the middleman who brought these things was Peter.

Until Brandon got angry, Jessica stopped those cheesy actions. Peter was also freed.

“Okay, then here I go. Brandon is a ‘barking dogs seldom bite’ person.” Seeing Vivia approaching, Peter quickly stood up, nodded to Anna, and left.

Anna watched Peter leave the classroom, understanding a little more about Brandon’s personality.

‘So, he only likes to bully people weaker than him?’ Anna guessed, ‘Good, dreamy Brandon!’

“Anna, who was that guy sitting with you just now?” Vivia just came back from shopping for breakfast, and as soon as she entered class, she saw a handsome guy talking to Anna. “That looks warm!”

Anna heard the familiar voice and smiled softly. After getting closer, Vivia’s personality completely changed. At first, the other’s impression of Vivia was ‘cold’, but now, that word should replace by ‘dynamic’ and ‘passionate’.

“Oh, his name is Peter. He’s a friend of Brandon. Those two seem to be close.”

“Peter told me not to care what Brandon said. Peter also said, Brandon is a nice person, but when he talks, it makes others uncomfortable. Anna replied in a voice that could hardly conceal her exasperation for Brandon.

Vivia remembers the day Anna was locked in the toilet, wondering why Anna doesn’t like Brandon so much now.

“Okay, stop thinking about it, Anna.” Vivia comforted Anna. “I bought some spaghetti. Do you want to try it? There’s also a part of you there!” Vivia pointed to two large boxes on the table, her face beaming.

Anna is feeling frustrated, but hearing her good friend say it, Anna just feels funny.

“Hey, why do you like spaghetti so much?” Anna sees Vivia eating spaghetti all the time. Even when she eavesdrops on the phone call, Anna is being bullied. Vivia is still in a spaghetti shop somewhere.

“I like to eat noodles, any noodle can be eaten, but the taste of spaghetti is the best.” Vivia twirled her fork around in a big circle and started chewing, “I thought I might have been a noodle in my past life!!!”

Anna opened the box, and golden spaghetti lined up in a beautiful spiral. Bright red tomato sauce adorned the straight noodles, the wonderful aroma wafting through Anna’s nasal cavity, a little minced meat occasionally peeking out from under the golden noodles, topped with a few herbs. Simple yet eye-catching.

Anna stared blankly at the box of noodles. She never thought that spaghetti could be so wonderful. I can’t believe that there is such a high-class spaghetti here.

“Hurry up and eat, Anna. Let it cool and it won’t taste good anymore.” Vivia urges her, she’s almost done, the last noodles are being enjoyed as much as she can.

Brandon summarized the story he encountered today for Anna. But Anna assessed, compared to when talking with Ms. Bunny, Brandon seems to use less emotion in her sentences.‘As expected of men, they only like attractive people.’ The bunny suit that Anna wore while serving in the bar was quite sexy, and Brandon liked Ms. Bunny like that, so Anna guessed Brandon was quite fond of sexy girls.“Huh.” Brandon didn’t say anything. He just glanced at Anna, completely quieting her down. Okay, he’s a patient. Give him a moment, Anna told herself.“So, what do you want?” In the middle of a space with the only sound coming from the TV, the content Brandon suddenly said startled Anna.“What?” Anna still did not quite understand what Brandon meant. She felt that she never seemed to fully understand the sentences Brandon said.“I ask you again, what do you want?” Brandon repeated, his expression still as calm as ever.“Sorry, but I still don’t quite understand what you’re saying?” To put it bluntly,

“Hey, who cares about you? Bullshit!” Anna nodded after hearing the first sentence, but when she heard the second sentence, she glared. For some reason, Brandon found Ann at that moment so cute.Brandon smiled, then the two walked silently to the house Brandon had described earlier.Although it was pitch black, under the gentle light of the street lamps, Anna could still glimpse the house with dark orange tiles, the four walls covered with moss, and the moss-like vines, constantly crawling to different positions. The house seemed to be quite old and must have existed here for a long time. Not far from the house was a large mulberry tree, vines winding around its trunk. Some foliage points up to the sky, and some fall back down, looking very lively. Sometimes there is wind, and the leaves sway like scared something.“It’s an old house, isn’t it?” Anna stood in the distance, squinting at the front. “It looks like the house was built in the twentieth century, around 1485 onwards, right?

“The price is fourteen dollars and fifty-nine cents.” A quick voice said, “Here’s your change. Have a nice day. She let out a long breath after wiping the sweat off her forehead. Finished the shift today!Anna’s shift today didn’t end so late.
