ALPHA ASHVIN

Watching her run beside me was like watching the moon come alive.

Every stride she took, every breath she pulled into her lungs, was wild and unrestrained, the kind of freedom I had only ever seen in dreams. Her wolf, Eira, glowed against the almost dark night, a streak of silver-white cutting through the darkness, and I swear the earth itself bent to her presence.

Zen felt it too. My wolf pushed closer, matching her pace, our paws beating in rhythm. We didn’t speak, we didn’t need to. The bond between us pulsed with heat and understanding, raw and alive.

Eira howled, the sound echoing like music across the forest, and Zen’s answering howl rose to meet hers, deep, commanding, but filled with something softer too.

Mine.

The word wasn’t spoken aloud, but it vibrated through every fiber of my being.

When we slowed, she turned to me, eyes glowing, chest heaving. She was radiant. And for a moment, I forgot the wars, the threats, the prophecies that haunted us. There was only h

My whole body felt heavy and empty when my eyes snapped open.“Oh, you’re alive,” Eira’s mocking voice echoed in my mind, her tone laced with amusement. “At least you’re alive.”I tried to scoff, but my head felt like stone. I couldn’t remember a thing. My body ached, every muscle burning like I had been dragged through fire. When I shifted to sit up, a hand steadied me. Words rushed at me, but they sounded distant, muffled, like I was underwater.“Zahzah.”The name still struck me. That was what only my family called me. Who….?I blinked harder, forcing my vision to sharpen. A smiling face beamed at me, her eyes bright with unshed tears.“About time,” Maliah grinned, clutching my hand as she perched on the bed beside me.I looked around, finally recognizing the familiar scent of cedarwood and the faint hum of pack energy through the walls. The Alpha pack house. My room. I was back in my realm.“Took you long enough to figure that out,” Eira teased, her laughter tumbling through my he

ZAHRA-ROSEFrom where I had been lying low, my wolf-sharp hearing caught every word that left their mouths.I forced myself to stay hidden, to let Ashvin lead, but the more I listened, the harder it became. These men would never willingly release my sister or Ashvin and his warriors. Their arrogance reeked through the clearing.I was pissed. How dare they speak to him like that? How dare they speak of killing my sister as if she were nothing, while I hid here listening? When the warriors suddenly began to writhe and howl in pain, I knew the humans had prepared for us. The acrid tang of wolfsbane burned my nose. They had mixed it into something and loosed it from the trees like cursed rain. That was the last straw.I stepped forward, my gaze locking on the so-called leader on the ground. He flinched at the sight of me, his bravery crumbling. But I didn’t go to him first. My feet carried me straight to where my sister was bound.Maliah’s eyes met mine, wide and wet.“You came for us,”

ALPHA ASHVINThe night air was sharp against my skin as I crouched low, my warriors forming a circle around me. Every instinct screamed at me to turn back, to hold Zahra-Rose in my arms and shield her from this, but I couldn’t. Not when her family’s lives were tied to this one mission. Her scent still clung to me, making every step heavier. Through the mate bond, I could feel her emotions thrumming inside me, even though this realm dulled most of our wolf gifts. Her fear. Her desperation. The way her soul trembled at the thought of her sister in chains, it cut through me like a blade.Steady, Zen rumbled inside me. You are Alpha. Lead them.He was right. This wasn’t just about rescuing prisoners. This was about showing the humans that Moonshine wolves were not prey. No one touched my Luna’s bloodline without answering to me first.I lifted my hand, signaling my warriors. Muscles tensed. Breaths stilled. Below us, the clearing was crawling with men, torches burning around a crude stone

ZAHRA-ROSEHours later, my eyes still couldn’t leave the clock, ticking away like a cruel reminder of how little time we had left. Every second dragged me deeper into the storm raging in my chest. My family was here. My mother. My sisters.I should feel relieved. I should be happy. But until I see them safe and back to our pack, until I can hold them in my arms, happiness will remain out of reach.“He will be here soon,” Felicia murmured at my side, trying to reassure me. But nothing could soothe the unease clawing at my insides. Not until I knew what was happening out there right now.Yes, the full moon was still five hours away, but minutes were enough to change everything. What if they moved my family? What if they vanished into another side of the human realm?Fear chewed at me, because all I wanted was to march into their fort and drag my family out myself. Was that too much to ask?“What about the girl? Is she still here?” I asked, glancing at Felicia. She shook her head. “She c

ALPHA ASHVINHolding her as she cried against my shoulder was exactly what I expected. Zahra-Rose tried to be strong with added Luna-strength but losing one’s family is a wound even the fiercest wolf cannot endure alone.“How did you know?” Her voice was muffled against my shirt, her tears dripping hot against my neck as she sniffled hard.Running my hand slowly along her back, I breathed in her scent. Moonfire and earth. She belonged here, in my arms, and for once, the bond wasn’t the only reason I wanted her close. When I didn’t answer right away, she lifted her head, her eyes red-rimmed but sharp, searching. That pain that clung to her gaze squeezed something inside me so tight it almost stole my breath. This wasn’t just the mate-bond tugging me, it was something deeper. Something that I never wanted to see her break. She stepped back, refusing to meet my eyes. She slammed her walls up so quickly I couldn’t hear her thoughts through the bond anymore.“She will open up when she wan
