Chapter 1: The cursed child.

“Amelia, how dare you daydream when you’re supposed to be doing the dishes,” a girl who was stuck in a trance heard someone yell at her and this snapped her out of her trance.

She turned and saw her terrifying boss; Madam Rosa glaring at her and just behind her were her two daughters.

The two devils who had made her life unbearable and who were hellbent on making her life a living hell; not that it made a huge difference anyway.

Everyone already knew how pathetic her life was.

“I’m s-sorry ma’am,” Amelia quickly apologized hoping that she wouldn’t hit her but she should have known that her wish was too good to come true.

She suddenly felt a sharp pain on the left side of her cheek. The force used to hit her already weak and fragile body was so much that she fell straight to the ground.

Tears immediately started to fall from her eyes when she heard the two girls laughing at her. As always, they were there to gloat on her misfortune.

“I gave you a job when no one else in this town did. So don’t you dare try and ruin my restaurant," Madam Rosa spat in disgust.

She then bent down and grabbed Amelia by her hair causing her to inhale sharply. “Do you understand?” she growled in anger.

She was right. She was the only person who was brave enough to accept Amelia as a worker.

Amelia lived in a really small community where everyone knew each other and everyone who lived in that community regarded her as a bad omen while some went as far as calling her a witch or a cursed child.

As much as it hurt, she couldn’t blame them though. Bad things always happened around her like objects falling mysteriously, glass breaking and so on.

There was this one time she would never forget and that was when she got angry when a group of boys kept on bullying her.

A small house which was near the area collapsed as soon as she yelled in anger.

She swore that it was just a coincidence and it had nothing to do with her but the residents didn’t think so.

There were even times when her bright green eyes would appear brighter than normal and her skin would become pale completely making her look like a monster.

When she was young, they refused to accept her at the community school because the parents of the other children were afraid that she would do something terrible to their children. After all, she had an infamous reputation.

But her grandmother fought for her and she ended up being accepted but it came at a cost.

Everyone always bullied her as she was too weak to fight for herself and that was how it had always been with her.

It affected her so much that she started stuttering due to the fear of what her bullies would do her.

The whole situation was funny to her bullies because a girl who was accused of making a building collapse couldn’t even fight for herself.

That was her life all throughout high school and when she finished, she didn't have any money to go off to college.

No one gave her a job as they didn't want her around but that was until Madam Rosa changed her mind and decided to hire her so she could have a punching bag.

At least she would go home to a loving grandma but not anymore as she died six months ago leaving her to her harsh world to be stuck forever with Madam Rosa.

“Y-yes ma’am.” she answered with her head bowed down.

Looking at her would be considered a sign of disrespect and she wouldn’t hesitate to beat her up with her whip.

“Good, now get up and wash the dishes like a good girl," Madam Rosa said.

"As you know we are going to be serving all the guests at the grand opening tonight. You know what that means right?” she asked as he cupped Amelia's face to look at her.

According to what Madam Rosa had been saying all week, a rich billionaire was opening a shopping mall in the community as well as developing it.

And since Madam Rosa had the biggest and most successful restaurant in the community, she was chosen to supply the food and drinks.

“Y-yes m-madam Rosa. I'll not b-be s-seen but I will not be h-heard t-tonight,” Amelia responded, inwardly praying that her answer was right.

Madam Rosa's lips broke into a satisfied smile as she was happy with her answer.

“Good,” she said and walked out of the kitchen and so did the two mean devils, she called her daughters.

Amelia heaved a sigh of relief after they had left. But that relief was cut short when she remembered the party.

She could already tell that something was going to go wrong and she would take the fall for it.

She was always blamed for everything whether it was her fault or not.

After all it was quite easy and much more believable to put the blame on the cursed child.

She really wished to quit the low paying job but she couldn't as it was her only source of livelihood.

No one else in this town would hire her to work for them. If only…

‘No!’ she muttered sharply. There was no point in wishing for a life that could never be hers.

She sighed once more and proceeded to wash the dishes or else Madam Rosa would chop her head off.

*****

He was deeply engrossed in the files that he was reading that he didn’t hear even with his supernatural hearing, when, Lance, his gamma the third in command walked into his study.

It wasn’t until when he slammed the door before the man noticed that another person was in the room

“You know Arthur, at this rate, you’re going to overwork yourself to death,” Lance said as he slumped down on the couch.

He was one of the few people who was allowed to call him by his name to the rest of his kind, he was regarded as the ‘Supreme Alpha,’ the most powerful of all the alphas and the supreme lycan.

“You were there when Alphaeus made the prophecy. Our kind is currently under threat from those damn deformed creature and I still haven’t found her mate," Arthur growled.

"This means we have to be prepared for anything,” Arthur replied and proceeded to continue reading the files in his hand.

However, he couldn't concentrate as his plycan started pacing in his head at the mention of the word ‘Mate’.

“Mate, I want her mate, find mate,” he kept on repeating and this made him irritated.

Ever since he turned the age when Lycans find their mate, his lycan had been wanting to find his mate but Arthur wasn't on the same page as him.

He brought his kind to great heights and he don't want all of what he have achieved to be ruined because of a mate. Arthur felt she would be more of a weakness and distraction than a strength.

“You know what,” Lance said as he got up from the couch. “You need to take a break for once in your life!"

"We are having the grand opening of your shopping mall tonight,” Lance stated reminding him of the reason why they had come to this community.

“Why not go and get ready for that.” And without warning, his Gamma grabbed all of his papers and ran out of the room.

He tried to mind-link Lance but as expected, he had put his mind barrier up which meant that he wouldn't be able to communicate with him. This was why Arthur prefered to take his second in command whenever he travelled.

He was much more serious than the brat who just ran out of his room.

Now that Lance was gone with his files, Arthur had nothing to distract him from the lycan who was in his head and who was hellbent on finding his mate.

What’s more was the fact that Arthur's lycan wanted to go for a run as he hadn’t been let out in over five days but we couldn’t as Arthur didn’t want to risk exposing them to the humans living there.

Shifters and other supernatural creatures had been keeping their existence secret for years as they didn’t know what humans would do if they found out about them and they weren't ready to find out.

“Argh,” Arthur groaned in frustration. He swore he was going to kill Lance once he found him.
