Chapter 3: Flee from the town.

An hour before.

"Are you okay Alpha?" Lance asked him as he entered Arthur's room.

He must have probably felt the strong emotions Arthur was feeling when he mind linked him to come to his room.

"No I'm not," Arthur answered honestly. "For some reason, my lycan keeps on pacing in my head restlessly which is in turn making me restless."

"Do you want to talk about it? Should I cancel the opening party?" Lance asked in a serious tone.

There would be a big problem if Arthur attended the function while he wasn't feeling well as there was no telling what his lycan would do.

Arthur looked at Lance and smiled a bit. This was one of the rare moments he got to see Lance acting like a mature adult and his Gamma.

Even though he appeared lightheaded and playful, he was deadly when he was angry or in his Gamma persona.

Arthur couldn't blame Lance for acting so serious though. He wasn’t feeling like himself and that was a great cause for worry as how he felt would indirectly extend to all the werewolves and lycans as he was their supreme leader and also humans.

“No, don't cancel the party," Arthur instructed. "I'll get it all under control," Arthur said.

"But your lycan keeps on pacing in your head and you feel restless, this is not a good decision,” Lance advised him.

"I said, I will take care of it," Arthur inhaled sharply and this came out as more of an angry growl.

The growl made Lance flinch in fear and when he noticed the change in his Alpha’s eyes.

He immediately burried his head down and showed Arthur the side of his neck as a way of submission.

“There’s no need to cancel the party, just Leave!” Arthur ordered in his Alpha tone. Lance didn’t need to be told twice as he bowed once again and left the room.

Arthur loosened the tie on his neck and slumped down on the chair. The colour of his eyes kept on changing from blue to a darker blue with a speck of gold in it.

This showed that he and his beast were fighting to take control of his body. ‘No, it’s too dangerous for you to shift, the humans will feel it!’ he snapped at his lycan.

Arthur’s lycan growled back angrily at him. He was an animal and therefore, he acted mainly on instinct and not after careful consideration. And all he wanted to do right then and there was to shift,

Due to the fact that he was a supernatural creature, humans couldn’t see them in their beast form but that didn’t change the fact that they would feel the presence of something mystical.

Plus, if his lycan was pushed to the edge, he would wreak havoc on anyone and anything in it’s part.

Even though the humans wouldn’t see the one who had caused the havoc, they would still see the destruction that had and that was why Arthur didn’t want to give control to his lycan.

‘If you don’t stop now, I promise you that I’ll stop the search for your mate,’ Arthur said to the lycan.

Upon hearing Arthur’s threat, the lycan immediately stopped pestering him and mellowed down. ‘Our mate!’ he growled angrily.

Arthur couldn’t help but shake his head on seeing how the not so easy to tame lycan immediately stopped upon hearing something that had to do with his mate.

This was one of the main reasons why he didn’t want a mate, she would make him weak and that was something that didn’t run in his blood.

Seeing that he had calmed down, he got up and readjusted his tie before going outside his room.

Lance was waiting for him and upon seeing the pale face of Arthur, his expression became one of worry.

“Stop with that expression and let’s go!” Arthur commanded. The sooner he arrived at the party, the sooner he would be able to leave.

“Yes Alpha,” Lance said respectfully as he followed Arthur.

They headed outside the mansion to where three cars were waiting for them.

Arthur looked around and saw that there were a bunch of hefty looking men standing around the car, these men were guards.

Arthur mentally rolled his eyes upon seeing them and so did his lycan.

He definitely didn’t need protection from any of the men but he had no choice but to carry them about anytime he was in the human realm.

To a human, he was the most successful CEO of all time and so it would raise questions if he moved around without guards knowing very well how many humans were after his head.

Ignoring the greetings from the guards, he and Lance entered into the car and drove off to the hall where the event was being celebrated. They got there about fifteen minutes later and Arthur got out of the car.

The stupid reporters were already there and as soon as they saw him, they started yelling his name.

Arthur sighed in frustration and so did his lycan, this was going to be a long and tiring night.

“We leave tomorrow morning!” Arthur informed Lance through the mind link.

“Okay Arthur, I will make the arrangement,” Lance replied back immediately and turned his attention back to the men he was talking to.

Arthur was currently sitting alone at one of the tables while his Gamma attended to the investors or board of directors of his company; he didn’t know which the men were and he sure didn’t care.

Even though Arthur seemed very attractive in the lady’s eyes, they didn’t dare try to approach him.

For some reason, they felt great fear just by looking at him, there was no way their feet would carry them to where he was

He looked at his watch ans saw that it was nine forty six. He made up his mind to leave once it was ten o’clock, not caring whether the people there would feel offended or not.

Ten o’clock finally struck and Arthur immediately stood up from where he had been sitting all night. And as he moved a bit further towards the back of the hall, a scent immediately hit him; it was the smell of sandalwood and it had a hint of citrus.

His lycan who had been sitting quietly immediately resumed pacing restlessly in his head.

There had been many scents going around in the air but this particular one was enticing and alluring than all the scents he had smelt before.

He didn’t know when his legs pushed him to where the scent was coming from. He followed the scent to the section where the food and drinks were being served, the scent was getting even stronger.

A loud commotion was suddenly heard from behind him. He turned and saw that a waitress had poured the contents in the tray she was holding on the floor.

He didn’t know what was special about that lowly girl that made his lycan growl in satisfaction.

He walked up to her and before he could say anything to her, she turned and intended to run away but because he was at her back and she had no idea, she bumped into him and lost her balance.

He had fast reflexes and he was able to catch her before she reached the ground. However, as soon as his skin came in contact with her own, he felt sparks running through his entire body.

It wasn’t a painful spark but a sweet one for which he craved more of. The girl who he had caught finally opened her eyes and stared into his deep blue eyes.

And as soon as their eyes met, his lycan took over and growled in a deep voice upon seeing how beautiful and innocent the woman in his hands was.

“Mate!” he growled, confusing the woman.

““Sir I’m so sorry for the commotion she caused,” He heard a woman say.

He felt his maze freeze in his arms when she heard the woman’s voice. It didn't take a genius to figure out that she was afraid of the woman.

His theory was further proven when she tried to struggle free from his embrace; this was something that his lycan didn’t like at all.

It was already taking all his effort stopping his lycan from marking her there and then.

“Mine!” his lycan growled as he came to the surface. He tightened his grip on her.

“Please let me go,” she spoke in a voice barely above a whisper.

Even her voice sounded so innocent and good to hear. The mate bond kicked in and the lycan refused to let his mate go.

Lance could feel the tension in the room. The people who had never seen Arthur hug a woman were surprised to see him clinging on to one and refusing to let her go.

Was he angry because she had caused a commotion at the party? The people there wondered.

He could see the fear for the girl Arthur was holding written across the people’s faces. Even the girl herself seemed scared and confused as to what was happening. There would be a huge problem if Arthur didn’t let her go. And so he stepped forward to intervene.

He knew the Alpha’s lycan wouldn’t spare him later but he was still going to do his duty irregardless.

He would have just mindlinked Arthur but the latter had blocked his mind preventing him from doing so.

Reaching where Arthur was standing, he slowly leaned into Arthur’s ear. “Alpha you have to let her go,” he pleaded and this earned him a growl from Arthur one that sent shivers down his spine.

“Alpha, you’re going to hurt and scare your mate away if you do not let her go,” Lance appealed to Arthur once again.

Arthur turned and looked at Lance and he saw that his eyes had turned dark with anger. ‘At least it was not red,’ was what Lance said to calm himself down.

He thought that Arthur wouldn't listen to him but to his surprise, he slowly let the girl go. The girl didn’t waste any more time as she immediately ran out of the room.

Lance cautiously looked at Arthur and he heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that his Alpha’s eyes had returned back to normal.

“I’m going home,” Arthur informed Lance in a rough voice. He immediately left from there leaving his Gamma to handle the humans.

She ran until her legs couldn’t carry her anymore. By the time she stopped, she had almost gotten to the house where she stayed.

Even though the distance from the party to where her house was about a thirty minute walk, she made it in ten minutes.

That wasn’t surprising, she had always been a fast runner.

However, that wasn’t what she cared about. The fact that she had caused a commotion at the party was what she cared about.

There was no way that Madam Rosa would spare her for what she had done.

And that scary looking man wouldn’t spare her as well. He had shown that when he refused to let her go.

She had heard from her grandma that a rich businessman was the one responsible for the death of her parents as they made him angry.

And now she had made a rich businessman angry. She quickned her steps to her house.

No, there was no way she would ever return to work. She was done with Madam Rosa and this town!!!

She would wake up very early tomorrow so she would catch the morning bus out of this town.

Luckily, she had saved up a little that would be able to sustain her for a little while until she found a job where she was going to.

She finally got home and immediately started packing the little items she had. She had made a plan but little did she know that nothing in her life would go as planned anymore.
