Adrian’s footsteps echoed on the marble floor — deliberate, precise, neither too fast nor too slow.

Lina rushed ahead, nearly stumbling in her haste. Inside the room, Alex lay convulsing, yellowish foam spilling from his mouth.

“Quickly, prepare the bathroom,” Adrian’s voice cut through the air the moment his eyes fell on him.

The scene confirmed the instinct that had screamed at Adrian during dinner. He had been right. The poison coursing through Alex was the same as the one given to Allison. And this also confirmed his growing suspicion: Sam was behind the sudden collapse.

But why Allison? His mind wrestled with the thought. Sam’s secret grudges were with the father, not his children. Unless Sam feared the children might one day uncover his crimes and rise against him. That, perhaps, could explain it. Still, speculation could wait. What mattered now was Alex’s survival.

His body was far too fragile; any single misstep — any wrong i

The atmosphere felt warm and peaceful again; with Seralyth around she always lit up the room and that same energy followed her. It was dinner, and the three sat at the table together. The chandelier overhead shone across the room, chasing every bit of darkness away. The air brimmed with anticipation among them. Since they were from the same place, they felt free to talk about home and other things.“So, don’t worry about a thing — I’ll be here to guide you,” Steve said.“Umm, what if her parents say they don’t like this old-looking man?” Seralyth teased. For a moment Steve paused, as if he might take offense.“Sorry, I didn’t mean that you’re that old,” she added with a smile.“Ah—don’t worry about it. She likes me that way, and I don’t think her parents will have a problem. Right, Master?” he asked, glancing at Adrian. He was sure Mr. Smith would forever be indebted to Adrian for curing his daughter. That was Steve’s chance, and he was also sure Clara cared for him.Adrian didn’t usu

Adrian was aware the sect would still come for him—only a matter of time. If they couldn’t find him easily, they’d likely destroy the city, assuming someone was hiding him from their wrath. After Seralyth learned the latest about the street sigil game, she spoke.“Master, I’m not trying to sound… but you know the sect are wicked in their own way. They won’t let such a mistake slide if they discover you’re capable of that ability in this world. They’d either punish you and force you to become one of them, or they’d try to end you.” Her tone was cautious; her wariness clear.“Don’t worry about it. I’ll handle this myself,” Adrian said. He wasn’t ready to risk anyone’s safety.“You’re right, because the sect’s members are cruel. They’ll start hunting everyone, hoping you show up when you see innocents punished because of you. So it’d be best we deal with this together now before Master returns home,” Steve said in his deep voice.Seralyth had always held a grudge against Steve. He was th

“So, it’s you mother has sent to bring me home?” Adrian said with a knowing smile. He had already noticed someone tailing them apart from the four cars earlier. In fact, before he even told Steve to stop the car, he had seen Seralyth on the rooftop of a tall building, watching from above. He recognized her instantly.“Well, I expected you’d be surprised to see me… but you don’t even look surprised.” Her tone carried a faint disappointment, as if she had hoped for warmth.“I already noticed you. So I wasn’t surprised that you’d interfere.” His voice was cold, though a neutral smile rested on his face.Seralyth sighed, her head dipping slightly in disappointment.Adrian had a way of deliberately shifting the topic when he didn’t want to acknowledge something. She was sure he understood what she meant—that subtle question of whether he missed her—but he dismissed it like it carried no weight. Still, she couldn’t complain. She hadn’t asked him directly, and she didn’t want to receive the

There were four phantom eclipse cars behind them, crashing into the Rolls Royce — clearly, they wanted something.“Let me take the wheel,” Steve said in an angry tone, as if he had activated battle mode. From the back seat, he moved to the front, taking control from the driver. His expression darkened with determination as he pressed the pedal, charging forward. One of the cars maneuvered its way to the front, almost as if it wanted to block them and force a stop. But Steve was now in control. He sped forward and smashed the edge of the car ahead, forcing it to almost rail off the road.On the edge was a deep bush, and if a car fell there, it would be suicidal. With precise control, Steve sped past, pulling the Rolls Royce ahead of their pursuers.“Steve, slow down. I want to know who they are… and why they’re here,” Adrian said in his usual calm tone.Steve immediately slowed, almost instinctively. They were already at the edge of a tunnel, about to cross outside. But just as he pres

But what Kaleb failed to notice was that Adrian had held back while fighting the others. He knew their strength wasn’t anywhere near his, so he matched them blow for blow — never using half of what he had. He shoved them away as if tossing a waste item, kicked like he was passing a ball, not engaging fully.Just at the last second Kaleb smiled. He thought Adrian was no match for him. Smiling as if he’s seen his victory ahead, Then, before he could trace the move, something unseen lifted him.He flew through the air and crashed into the bar. Bottles shattered; the display collapsed in a spray of glass and liquor.Adrian had shoved him unexpectedly with a single right hand. Kaleb hadn’t prepared for the move — at the last moment he’d looked away when Lyra called, and that split-second mistake cost him everything, in that moment he saw Adrian looked away he had thought he made a foolish mistake but rather it’s him to have think Adrian had made a mis

“How dare you?” Kaleb’s anger flared even more at Adrian’s words. For some reason he felt this man wasn’t ordinary he’s regarded him as a casual person but then he wouldn’t let his guard down— and he wouldn’t give him a chance to play hero.Adrian held Sam with one hand, tightly. “You bastard, let go of me… ahhh—ahh,” Sam screamed.Sam expected the others to rush in and throw Adrian to the floor for a beating, but the men hesitated; they respected the rules too well. Still, Kaleb’s hatred was stoked. No one dared act bold in front of him — but Adrian just showed no fear in front of him and he sees that as disrespect, and he’d even took things far enough to talk down to their boss.Kaleb stepped back a few paces then signaled his boys to charge. He had been sure to warn Adrian twice to let Sam go; when Adrian refused, Kaleb gave the order. Now he’s sure to have an even solid reason to deal with Adrian. With a single hand ges
