Petal

As Ansel walked up to me, every one of my warriors stood on alert. I didn’t need to say a word—they could sense the tension crackling in the air like a coming storm. Ansel stopped a few feet in front of me, his eyes searching mine.

“Can we talk alone for a moment?” he asked. His voice was deep but laced with something softer—something that made me uneasy.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

Alone?

Was he serious?

Every instinct screamed at me not to trust him. My warriors shifted on their feet, ready to jump in at the slightest signal. Melissa stepped up beside me, her hand casually brushing against the dagger strapped to her belt.

“You don’t have to go anywhere with him,” she muttered under her breath. “We can talk right here.”

“I’ll be fine,” I said, though I wasn’t entirely sure I believed it myself. I turned back to Ansel. “Lead the way. But just so you know, if this is a trick, my warriors will turn your camp into dust before you can blink.”

  • The Untamed One    FINALE (United we stand)

PetalThe weight of Fraye’s threat still hung in the air, but the moment Ansel stepped into the clearing with Hansel by his side, a spark of hope ignited in my chest.I controlled shouting my lungs out.Their resemblance is however.... striking. My son. My beautiful boy was safe, though his wide, frightened eyes told me he had endured more than any child should. I rushed to Hansel, dropping to my knees as I pulled him into my arms. He clung to me tightly, his small body trembling against mine. “Mama,” he whispered, his voice cracking. I kissed the top of his head, silent tears streaming down my face. “Shh, it’s okay now,” I murmured, though I wasn’t entirely sure it was true. My heart ached, knowing he’d been used as a pawn in this vicious game. But I couldn’t let my emotions rule me. Not yet. Not when there was still so much at stake. I looked up at Ansel, his expression a mix of relief and fury. “Thank you,” I said softly. He nodded, but his jaw remained tight. “This isn’t o

  • The Untamed One    Threats

FreyaI had always been good at reading people. It was a skill I prided myself on, one that had served me well over the years. But lately, it was impossible to ignore the way Ansel’s eyes lingered on Petal. The subtle shift in his tone when he spoke to her. The way he seemed to gravitate toward her without even realizing it. It made my stomach churn. He was my mate. My *second chance mate*. The one person who was supposed to be mine and mine alone. But instead of the love and devotion I deserved, he was giving it to *her*. Petal Brooks. The name itself was like poison on my tongue. She was a thorn in my side, a threat to everything I had fought so hard to secure. And now, as if her presence wasn’t already unbearable, I could see the cracks forming in Ansel’s loyalty to me. ---One evening, I found myself pacing in my tent, the fabric walls doing little to muffle the rising storm in my chest. The memories of the past few days played on repeat in my mind—Ansel laughing with Pe

  • The Untamed One    Shifting allegiance

PetalThe moment Ansel hit the ground, a sickening thud echoed through the battlefield. My breath hitched as I froze, my eyes locked on his crumpled form lying several feet away. For a second, everything around me—the snarls, the growls, the clash of claws—fade into silence. Then, the monstrous creature roared again, snapping me back to reality. Its blood-red eyes locked onto me, and it charged, its massive body barreling through everything in its path. “Petal, move!” Logan’s voice sliced through the chaos. Instinct took over. I dove to the side, the creature’s claws slicing through the air where I’d been just seconds before. My heart pounded as I scrambled to my feet, adrenaline coursing through me. ---I glanced toward Ansel. Melissa was already at his side, checking his pulse. “He’s alive!” she shouted, relief clear in her voice. “But barely!” That was enough for me. He wasn’t dead—yet. “Get him out of here!” I commanded. “Logan, cover them!” Logan nodded, rushing t

  • The Untamed One    Battle lines

PetalThe forest was alive with tension. Every sound—the crunch of a leaf, the faint rustle of branches—felt louder, sharper, as if the night itself was holding its breath. We moved silently through the dense trees, the cool air wrapping around us like a cloak. I kept my warriors close, my senses heightened. Beside me, Ansel walked with a quiet confidence, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. For a moment, I glanced at him, watching the way his jaw tightened as we approached the clearing. He was focused, determined, and ready for the fight ahead. “Are your warriors in position?” I asked him in a hushed tone. “They’re ready,” he replied, his voice steady. “What about yours?” I turned my head slightly, meeting Melissa’s gaze. She gave me a firm nod, her hand resting on the hilt of her blade. “We’re always ready.” As we reached the edge of the clearing, I signaled for everyone to halt. We crouched low, the shadows of the trees blending with our figures. Across the clearin

Alpha AnselYes, we just experienced firsthand fight and it was nothing. We warded them off easily.I couldn’t stop staring at her as we walked back toward the camp. Petal—no, Alpha Rieka, as she now called herself—wasn’t the same person I remembered. The girl I once knew was quiet, timid, and unsure of herself. But the woman walking beside me now… she was fire and steel. Her steps were confident, her head held high. She barely spared me a glance, her sharp gaze scanning the woods around us. She didn’t trust me—of that I was certain. But then again, I wasn’t sure I trusted her either. “Why did you agree to help us?” I asked finally, breaking the silence. She didn’t slow down, didn’t even look at me. “An alliance benefits both our packs,” she said simply. “That’s the official reason,” I replied. “But what’s the real one?” This time, she stopped and turned to face me. The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting silvery glow on her face. Her expression was unreadable, but
