Petal's POV

"What are you doing, you bitch!?" The palace head maid screamed at me as she eyed me. They all hate me here!!! I don't know why but it's now a tradition

"I think it's best that it comes to your knowledge, that you've got to wash up these dishes before the ceremony kicks off. Do you understand?." She yelled as she yanked my hair. I don't know when my hair became her favorite spot.

I remained silent because I was already tired and weak, like I haven't had anything since morning... When will this suffering end?

Arghhhh!!!

I screamed as I was whipped on my back.

" I believe I was talking to someone." Zara, the palace head maid said to me, smiling sinisterly and at the same time rolling her eyes at me. I stared at her as tears streamed down my petite face.

"Yes please, I understood what you said clearly." I answered, almost choking on my breath.

"So you just chose to ignore me?." She asked with a slight smirk on her face.

"No, I would never." I replied almost immediately terrified of the next evil that would creep into her head.

"Take her out, give her 15 strokes of the whip." She ordered as she signaled to one of the palace guards that was on duty close by.

"No please, don't do this. Please, I haven't had anything since morning, I might faint or die..." I pleaded for mercy trailing off as I couldn't see my body taking 15 strokes of the whip.

I would die, for real!!!

Nevertheless, I was still dragged out and given 15 strokes of the whip. My whole body was filled with blood as cuts were visible on my skin.

Yes this is me! I'm petal Brooks!!!

This is my life, my fate.

No matter how hard I work, things become even harder and worse.

I became a slave and was taken out of my own pack because of the debts my dad owed the alpha king that he couldn't clear off. No matter how hard I worked and the days of labor I applied, nothing changed and I don't think anything would ever change.

I am bound to this cruel world, like forever!

Pain is something... But emotional pain is another thing and over the years, I've noticed that whatever pain I go through both physically and mentally, all heals apart from one and that's the emotional pain. I'm hurt deep down. But that doesn't mean I would give up... No, like never.

Everyone has their story to tell and I believe that mine was going to be a long one with a happy ending anyways.

"Would you stop spacing out and clear those dishes?." Zara yelled as she yanked my hair.

"I'm on it." I said between sniffles, fastening my pace.

This was the situation I had found myself in ever since I was a little girl and guess what… My dad put me in this dilemma and I hate him for it.

As I was told, my dad used to be a very heavy drinker which I think he really was and he usually borrowed money from people of high caliber for gambling which he was never able to repay. My mom was then sent to this pack, The moonlight pack as a slave even at the stage of pregnancy. But her hard work was futile. Everything passed down to me

"Ouch." I whimpered as blood gushed out of my hand.

I had mistakenly broken yet another plate, which calls for double punishments.

Will this suffering ever end?

I've been washing the dishes for hours non stop and it felt like it would never stop coming just because the Alpha prince returned from god knows where.

Today has been the worst, as different delicacies and sumptuous meals with a very stupendous party was thrown in his honor as we awaited his arrival.

Who cares for someone whose arrival generated more work for me? Everyone but certainly, not me.

Soon enough, the dreaded moment came as I started hearing cheers and howls from different angles. All the palace maids and servants rushed out to grace the event that was unfolding as the Alpha prince arrived.

It irritated me the way they ogled at him like he was some Greek god, and then the celebration started.

From the praise singers to the dancers, as the maidens swayed their waist in ecstasy hoping to catch his fancy. Pathetic!!!!!

And then, the last moment I prayed never to come was the time to start serving meals but then, wishes weren't horses and it came.

Maids fought to take food to the high table where the Alpha family was seated.

"Petal, take this food to the Alpha's table." Zara ordered as she placed a tray in my hands or would I say forced it because it almost slipped out.

I walked slowly and steadily and when I got to the table, I bowed my hand whilst placing it in front of the Alpha prince.

"Your highness." I curtsied.

I was about to leave when someone furiously pulled my hair, yanked me back and there came a growl.

" What took you so long?." He asked, you could see that he was actually fuming in anger.

Oh goodness, now I'm in trouble. I've really got a bad fate.

" I'm sorry your highness, but it was immediately the food was ushered to me that I brought it here." I answered matter of factly.

" How dare you talk back at the Alpha prince?." That came Zara's voice as I felt a cold chilling sensation on my cheek. Heck, she just slapped me! What for? Why would they all pick on me when I did nothing wrong, obviously!

"I didn't talk back to him, I just answered his questions." I retorted, fuming in anger. Oh god, I'm putting up a show in front of the king

"For a minute, I wondered who had the guts to still stand and reply but then it's you.. how can I forget you? You spiteful and stinky being!." Alpha Ryker thundered as he roughly pushed me.

I lost balance and fell into the Alpha Prince arms.........

  • The Untamed One    FINALE (United we stand)

PetalThe weight of Fraye’s threat still hung in the air, but the moment Ansel stepped into the clearing with Hansel by his side, a spark of hope ignited in my chest.I controlled shouting my lungs out.Their resemblance is however.... striking. My son. My beautiful boy was safe, though his wide, frightened eyes told me he had endured more than any child should. I rushed to Hansel, dropping to my knees as I pulled him into my arms. He clung to me tightly, his small body trembling against mine. “Mama,” he whispered, his voice cracking. I kissed the top of his head, silent tears streaming down my face. “Shh, it’s okay now,” I murmured, though I wasn’t entirely sure it was true. My heart ached, knowing he’d been used as a pawn in this vicious game. But I couldn’t let my emotions rule me. Not yet. Not when there was still so much at stake. I looked up at Ansel, his expression a mix of relief and fury. “Thank you,” I said softly. He nodded, but his jaw remained tight. “This isn’t o

  • The Untamed One    Threats

FreyaI had always been good at reading people. It was a skill I prided myself on, one that had served me well over the years. But lately, it was impossible to ignore the way Ansel’s eyes lingered on Petal. The subtle shift in his tone when he spoke to her. The way he seemed to gravitate toward her without even realizing it. It made my stomach churn. He was my mate. My *second chance mate*. The one person who was supposed to be mine and mine alone. But instead of the love and devotion I deserved, he was giving it to *her*. Petal Brooks. The name itself was like poison on my tongue. She was a thorn in my side, a threat to everything I had fought so hard to secure. And now, as if her presence wasn’t already unbearable, I could see the cracks forming in Ansel’s loyalty to me. ---One evening, I found myself pacing in my tent, the fabric walls doing little to muffle the rising storm in my chest. The memories of the past few days played on repeat in my mind—Ansel laughing with Pe

PetalThe moment Ansel hit the ground, a sickening thud echoed through the battlefield. My breath hitched as I froze, my eyes locked on his crumpled form lying several feet away. For a second, everything around me—the snarls, the growls, the clash of claws—fade into silence. Then, the monstrous creature roared again, snapping me back to reality. Its blood-red eyes locked onto me, and it charged, its massive body barreling through everything in its path. “Petal, move!” Logan’s voice sliced through the chaos. Instinct took over. I dove to the side, the creature’s claws slicing through the air where I’d been just seconds before. My heart pounded as I scrambled to my feet, adrenaline coursing through me. ---I glanced toward Ansel. Melissa was already at his side, checking his pulse. “He’s alive!” she shouted, relief clear in her voice. “But barely!” That was enough for me. He wasn’t dead—yet. “Get him out of here!” I commanded. “Logan, cover them!” Logan nodded, rushing t

  • The Untamed One    Battle lines

PetalThe forest was alive with tension. Every sound—the crunch of a leaf, the faint rustle of branches—felt louder, sharper, as if the night itself was holding its breath. We moved silently through the dense trees, the cool air wrapping around us like a cloak. I kept my warriors close, my senses heightened. Beside me, Ansel walked with a quiet confidence, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. For a moment, I glanced at him, watching the way his jaw tightened as we approached the clearing. He was focused, determined, and ready for the fight ahead. “Are your warriors in position?” I asked him in a hushed tone. “They’re ready,” he replied, his voice steady. “What about yours?” I turned my head slightly, meeting Melissa’s gaze. She gave me a firm nod, her hand resting on the hilt of her blade. “We’re always ready.” As we reached the edge of the clearing, I signaled for everyone to halt. We crouched low, the shadows of the trees blending with our figures. Across the clearin

  • The Untamed One    A common enemy

Alpha AnselYes, we just experienced firsthand fight and it was nothing. We warded them off easily.I couldn’t stop staring at her as we walked back toward the camp. Petal—no, Alpha Rieka, as she now called herself—wasn’t the same person I remembered. The girl I once knew was quiet, timid, and unsure of herself. But the woman walking beside me now… she was fire and steel. Her steps were confident, her head held high. She barely spared me a glance, her sharp gaze scanning the woods around us. She didn’t trust me—of that I was certain. But then again, I wasn’t sure I trusted her either. “Why did you agree to help us?” I asked finally, breaking the silence. She didn’t slow down, didn’t even look at me. “An alliance benefits both our packs,” she said simply. “That’s the official reason,” I replied. “But what’s the real one?” This time, she stopped and turned to face me. The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting silvery glow on her face. Her expression was unreadable, but

  • The Untamed One    Haunted memories

PetalAs Ansel walked up to me, every one of my warriors stood on alert. I didn’t need to say a word—they could sense the tension crackling in the air like a coming storm. Ansel stopped a few feet in front of me, his eyes searching mine. “Can we talk alone for a moment?” he asked. His voice was deep but laced with something softer—something that made me uneasy. I narrowed my eyes at him. Alone? Was he serious? Every instinct screamed at me not to trust him. My warriors shifted on their feet, ready to jump in at the slightest signal. Melissa stepped up beside me, her hand casually brushing against the dagger strapped to her belt. “You don’t have to go anywhere with him,” she muttered under her breath. “We can talk right here.” “I’ll be fine,” I said, though I wasn’t entirely sure I believed it myself. I turned back to Ansel. “Lead the way. But just so you know, if this is a trick, my warriors will turn your camp into dust before you can blink.” He didn’t respond to my thre
