Chapter 34: Safe?

Maria's POV

9:01 am.

I've been wide awake since the crack of dawn, again, so fearful of the bucket of iced cold water or even human waste that could be drenched upon me if I was in bed for even a second too long. 

Even after the long night Luke and I had last night, somehow my body still told me I was trapped and needed to stay on guard no matter what. I find it strange since when we finally finished after who-knows how many rounds, he had pulled me into his arms and I fell asleep in an instant. I thought for sure I could get a good nights sleep. 

No nightmares, though, so that's good. 

I hear Luke toss and turn around a bit. I turn around too
